Cia stood there in the water clutching her shoulders.
A sob escaped her throat. It was supposed to be a fun pool day for the students at Thrice Academy, a time to celebrate the summer for those who opted to stay behind and study instead of taking the season off. And for the first time in her life, the crown princess wanted to apply herself, to become something greater than the spoiled embarrassment she was to her family. But she had made enemies in the years past, most notably Countess Vivian Dragonwood. The young countess gathered up her group of friends, ganged up on Cia, and together tore her swimsuit off in the ensuing fight, leaving the princess nude and humiliated before the student body.
This is what I get for trying to become a better person. I should never have signed away my summer. I should have bullied everyone into submission like I used to.
"Oh look, there's the pretty princess who thinks she's all that!"
"Not so high and mighty now, are you?"
"That's what passes for royalty these days."
She could hear their mocking words as she rose up the pool stairs.
Don't stare at me. Don't look at me!
