Fx Female Unequal Partners / Unfair Rivalry

[A Super Girl]

I want to explore a relationship between two rivals (not enemies, just competitors) who have to work together. In a typical story of this kind, the rivals find that they need each other, or at least that they're more capable together than either would be alone. In this story, that's not true. One of the characters is just plain better than the other. Ouch. These women aren't mean-spirited; they both want to make the best of an unpleasant situation. But is there any possible outcome other than seething resentment?

The setting in my head for this is D&D-style adventure fantasy, but I'm open to just about any setting or genre except mundane Earth.

I will play either role.
