" Raito-kun ~ don't be like this, please ! Misa didn't mean to ! I love you ! " the blond pop star desperately pleaded, her fingers tightly clasping the hem of her boyfriend's shirt. When she couldn't detect the slightest ounce of mercy from her lover's facial expression, she buried her face into his chest and whined. " Misa-chan only wanted to help Raito-kun ! I'll do anything he wants ! " she cried, her high-pitched wail coming out muffled as she refused to withdraw her head from his torso.
" You've done enough to help. Now, the entire force's onto us- thanks to your stupidity, " he grunted, coldly shoving his girlfriend off without so much as another glance in her direction. He shoved his hands into his pockets, impatiently tapping his left foot as he brainstormed ideas to convince the headquarters that they weren't the culprits to the whole Kira case. He worked so hard to achieve his biased idea of justice for the world, and some dimwitted Barbie couldn't foil his plans so far in the game ! She did make the situation incredibly difficult to turn around, and now, Light wondered if it was actually smart to use her as his vessel. Who was he kidding ? He was stupid to have thought for even a second that L would fall for a stupid play that a bimbo like Misa could act out. The sugar addicted detective was very much a worthy match for him, but Light wouldn't and couldn't be the possible new king of the upcoming era if he lost to some childish teenager.
Instead of relying on Misa to carry out most of his plans, he'd have to ask her to do very simple tasks that might not take the risk level up a whole new step. L probably had them figured out already, but there was still very little hope that he could make everything work out. " Misa, " he cleared his throat, softening his tone as if instantaneously changing into some romantic sweetheart, " ... If ... I-Raito-kun gave you another chance, will you promise to do it correctly ? " If Misa couldn't keep L busy, he would have to take the matter into his own hands. If Misa ended up getting caught, she'd be arrested- not him. And he didn't give a fuck if she got dragged away to prison in the end. It was her own damned fault for being so incredibly gullible and foolish. He wouldn't like his plans, per say, but there wasn't anything else he could do ... Misa would have to continue her roundabouts with writing down the criminals' names on her own separate copy of the Death Note, while he stayed with L to distract him from his work. While they would be interacting, numerous people would die at that moment, thus making him less of a suspect.
That evening, he gained access to the main headquarters where he found L lounging in front of a long line of computers that lazily blinked, showing several screens of different rooms of the whole facility. Light loosened his crimson tie and entered the detective's domain, leaning his hip against one of the work tables. " Evening. " he greeted in a dull voice, sounding more or less like himself. Part of carrying out a plan was knowing how to keep everything cool.
And as they spoke, Misa was getting ready for bed, shuffling into her sheets with a torn piece of the Death Note clasped in her hand. As she laid her cheek on one side of the pillow, she used her free hand to write the names she remembered from police frequencies and visual television aids. Her eyes remained closed as she was instructed to have them, and looking totally asleep, she continued scribbling, however messy her handwriting turned out to be, the fates of the recorded criminals were well on their way to be cut.
" Living your life off of sweets and sitting in front of the computer all day long ... " he shook his head, 'tsk'ing him with repetitive clicks of his tongue, " You have horrible habits, L. " He stopped, weaving his fingers egotistically through the strands of his hazel hair, " ... Have you started on your homework yet ? "
