Haggin Hall. The dormitory for students who really couldn't afford to live elsewhere during their studies. Not the best maintained, but funcional enough that problems only occur once a month. Twenty-three year old Kristopher Collins is a second year student at UC Community College, and must stay in the dormitory as his family lives outside city limits. An art student, Kris is comfortable having his own space, and has spread out in the dorm room. Sketches of various landscapes and animals decorate the walls, and his desk is covered in half finished drawings and art supplies. Kris is also quiet reserved as a person, preferring the company of his cat — which he's not supposed to have in the dorm — over the company of other students.

However, Kris got a notice yesterday that he would be receiving a roommate now. A week into the school year. A late arrival is nothing new, UC college often gets transfer students spread through the first month. But Kris isn't happy about the prospect of having to share his space. In preparation, he has taken down the sketches he had hung on the opposite side of the room. Now it just looks bare. Surely, it would fill up with whatever this mew roommate had for a hobby.

A knock on the door signals the rommate's arrival. Kris' white cat, Sasha, looks up from where she's sleeping on Kris' bed and huffs. "I know, girl. I'm not too happy about it either." With reluctance, Kris opens the door. At 6'4, dressed in his usual dark hoodie and black jeans, Kris is intimidating to most. One look, though, and he immediately suspects not much fazes this boy.

Why was someone like Collin at Haggin Hall?

That question was one he could go on and on about. The short answer was, of course, money. He was already out-of-state, meaning he was paying a good amount to go there. Adding on top of that the fact that he didn't had a car yet owing to him having a terrible habit of nearly crashing during the practice tests, adding further to that he had a horrible sense of direction and he was the type who only focused when interested... but interested was the name of the game when it came to him being at UC! Or so he liked to say. He wasn't entirely the most... well he was a bright student, just not at everything!

It was for that reason he was here for architecture. Collin wanted to build things, but he didn't want to build them. He hated dirt and mud, and getting dirty. He hated camping especially! And it was for that reason he decided to instead design the things others would build! He wasn't the best drawer out there, not by a long shot, but he'd learned how to use computer software to make his shapes. He wanted to make modern buildings, modern shapes, modern everything! Without some of the more out there things others made. No, he wanted to put his mark on the world with someone that would make others happy to see it.

"Howdy howdy!" Collin's voice rang out, a bit on the higher pitch as he opened the door to their room. The man that opened it was a twenty-two year old in a glisteningly bright orange t-shirt and deep red button up flapping around it, with tan slacks on that all came together to an undeniable 'autumn' vibe to it all, "...Oh! Right. Sorry about that, I thought nobody was here yet. Though I guess I'm the late one, so..." Collin rubbed his neck a little more, "Anyways!" He was barely 6" as he strode into the room, dragging a large suitcase that contained just about everything he held dear to himself. And upon seeing the cat, his eyes lit up, "Oh1 She's so pretty!" Quickly, Collin got down, lowering his field of view to put himself on the cat's level and holding out two fingers within her line of sight, down so as not to threaten her, "Let's see, are you the friendly type?"

Kris quickly steps back out of the way as the brunet boy strides into the room. Wonderful, a bouncing ball of energy is his new roommate. Kris refrains from sighing as he closes the door and pushes the boy's bag over to the end of the bare bed. Well, bare as in only having the dorm issued sheets on it. As for Sasha, she isnt't thrilled at having a stranger's face suddenly in hers, plus fingers close to her nose. True to her aloof nature, though, the white cat simply stands up, turns around, then lays back down with her back to the new boy.

"She doesn't warm to strangers quickly." Kris' voice is deep, but smooth and quiet. He walks over to sit at his desk, a small surface against the wall near the end of his bed. He turns the chair to face his new roommate, setting his elbow on the desk and his jaw against his fist. He stares for a bit, then sighs again. "I'm Kris, second year art student. Stay out of my space and my stuff and we'll get along fine. Also, if you so much as mention Sasha is in here, I will find a way to get you moved dorms."

After giving the brunet a moment to offer his own name, Kris pulls headphones from the drawer of his desk, setting them over his ears and plugging them into his phone. Sound cancelling, he can now no longer hear Collin. The irony is not lost on him that Collin's name is nearly the same as his own surname. Not one for conversation, though, Kris picks up his pencil and returns to a grayscale sketch of Sasha outlined by a sunset.

Having the white cat move away from him was a slight disappointment for Collin, not the least of which due to she was a very pretty animal he wanted to lavish with affection. Cats, however, weren't his priority here, and instead he saw Kris pushing his bag and simply moved over to sit down on the bed himself. He took his time to stretch, popping several joints before putting both hands in his lap, pinching them between his thighs as he leaned forward and looked right over at Kris with a curios glance.

"Collin! First year here, though I did about a year of classes at a community college back home, sooo... it's somewhat of a weird half-first half-second year thing for me. I'm half in half!" Collin chuckled. t wasn't lost on him that the man put in his own noise-cancelling headphones, something he took as an immediate dismissal. For now, he rolled with it, putting it simply in stride with his own step and moving to undo his bag.

Collin's bag, as it seemed, was almost all clothes. Aside from some shoes, his laptop inside his relatively plain bag and a few random toys that almost looked like they were from children's restaurants, there wasn't much else to his name. He set his clothes up in what he presumed was his half the closet, ruffled up his hair, and then looked over and waved his hand to try to get Kris' attention, "Hey! I'm going out for dinner, I can bring you something back if you like? Anywhere you'd like to go, I have a car!"

Kris notices the waving hand and looks up, pushing his headset back from one ear so he can hear his new roommate. Going out for dinner? Kris had thought the boy was placed here because of lack of money.. Haggin Hall is the cheapest dorm, after all. Whatever. He shakes his head, then replaces his headphone over his ear, ignoring the boy again. Things would just go smoother if they kept to themselves. Then Kris wouldn't have to worry about entertaining Collin.

As soon as Collin leaves the dorm, Kris releases a sigh, and the tension from his shoulders. He's as anti-social as they come, avoiding all college community functions and only attending the assemblies required by the school. Having someone so.. lively, as his roommate is going to be a major adjustment.

Kris only spends another hour on his artwork, then stands and stretches. First, he feeds Sasha, then does a quick scoop of the litterbox hidden under raised bedframe. Leaving the dorm, he locks the door and heads downstairs and out to the dumpster. A loud cheer makes him jump; the college gymnastics team is practicing on the lawn, and bystanders are cheering them on. Kris shakes his head and continues to the dumpster, pulling his hood up over his head.
