@Sunshine and Whiskey A sequel to The Neighbor's Window
Adam Pierson was not expecting a great deal of exciting things to occur for him in the near future. It had been some time since his charged encounter with his neighbor at her window. A woman whose name he never knew, yet the woman he simply could not even begin to forget. His breath quickened sometimes when he thought of her, her body etched into the recesses of his mind.
But he had never learned her name. Never heard her voice properly. They'd had one night of play to themselves and that had been that. IT had left him with his life to go on like normal, or as normal as he could possibly make of it. It also left him busy. He was working odd jobs, the best he might manage. At a few of the places he traveled to, he was still giving lodgings and free drinks, which he was taking full advantage of at the local hotel bar, a glass in front of him as the bartender filled it. Adam had just given him a friendly smile, hoping he would receive no awkward questions about his service. He was just tired now, wanting a drink, a good meal. He got plenty of that.
Errands were the same demanding thing as ever. Every night he could return to his apartment, staring at the window like he expected someone there again. Every night, he could work out...and wait. Strangely, she had become a standard by which he judged all others. Was this a healthy way of dealing with it? Certainly not. Could he help it? Also certainly not.
But he finished up, setting out for the grocery store with his list. Just a normal day like any other, with life going on just like normal as he thought against of his neighbor at the window. It was absurd; he would never see her again, in all likelihood...maybe he needed to try dating again. He'd been single for a while.
Just a normal day in a normal life, with nothing more to expect.
