Disclaimer: I do not own Fruits Basket, I simply want to do some RPs based on the animes (I have not read the manga).
For hundreds of years, various members of the Sohma family have been reincarnated as God or one of the thirteen animals by being possessed by their original spirits. Even though they don't have any memories of the original promise between God and the animals, they are still bound by that promise, since the blood of the Zodiac spirits remembers. The original God only wanted the bonds to be sacred and something that would connect him to his friends forever, but he didn't intend for the bond to become something cursed and the source of generations of abuse, isolation, and ostracization in the Sohma clan.
Although there is no definite answer to what the curse truly is, it has been theorized that the God and the thirteen animals are in a βworldβ all their own, so itβs hard for someone on the outside to understand whatβs between them. They are connected by a bond of blood and the very souls of the original animals and God. This is the reason why the Zodiacs arenβt able to defy the God, since they all harbor intense feelings toward them and since they are like a god to them; someone to be feared and respected, whether they are weak or strong. Only a few words of rejection from the Godβs mouth can both emotionally and physically wound the Zodiacs. However, it is shown that the Zodiacs are able to defy Akito if their will is strong enough.
Even if new incarnations were born, the blood of those spirits made their demand to all the previous and current Zodiacs clear; to not betray their God. It is also mentioned that their emotional connection is so strong that every single person possessed by an animal spirit cries upon seeing their God for the first time.
The Cat is the only member of the bond who was intended to be cursed. Since the Cat rejected the idea of an eternal banquet and friendship, God and the other animals saw the Cat as rejecting and betraying them, even if his words came from a place of wisdom and kindness. This is why the Cat is punished for this in each rebirth. Not only does the Cat have a βtrue formβ, but they are also ostracized and isolated. Every Zodiac is well aware of the Catβs future confinement, but none of them will lift a finger to stop it; either accepting it in silence or pretending not to think about it. The reason behind this is that the Cat fulfills the role of a scapegoat within the βbondβ; he is discriminated against, disrespected, and locked up, a fate which the other Zodiacs wonβt have to suffer. So when they feel self-hatred and that the bond is a curse, they can look at the Cat and think βThank God. At least Iβm better off than that.β
While how the curse can be broken is unclear, it is implied to be weakened a number of ways. One is when a possessed member forms a stronger bond with an outsider or someone other than God, than the one between them and God. Another βtriggerβ to weaken the curse could also be when a possessed member defies, stands up against, or becomes independent from God.
It is implied that the God, holds much control and power over the bonds and the curse. So when the God forms a bond stronger than their bond with the Zodiacs and let the Zodiacs have their freedom, as well as give up being a special βGodβ these actions all weaken the bond and can allow it to break, once and for all.

So what am I aiming to do with this world one might ask. Wellβ¦
I want to play the cat, but not as a male like Kyo. This cat would be a girl, but also hidden away from the Sohma family, their mother having escaped from their grasp as soon as she fell pregnant. This would not save the child from becoming a member of the zodiac, but in fear of her being locked up like past generations, the cat having been the only of the zodiac not alive at the time, MCβs mother fled the Sohma Estate and her Sohma husband. Sixteen, and adopted by a new family, MC returns βhomeβ unaware that she is a Sohma and of her true form. She had turned into a cat when hugged by the opposite gender, having moved around a lot from this βcurseβ, but a special necklace that she has never taken off hides her βtrue formβ as the cat, told it belonged to her fatherβs family.
I also wish to play the monkey and the rabbit if possible. I would like you to play at least two of the zodiac, but we can split them up between us, playing different characters as time goes on, as well as a few students at school. If you are not up for a huge cast, 3 x 3 would be ideal, but 1x1 is fine as well, but I would like to play against the βGodβ of the Sohma family in that case.
Of course all of my characters would be sixteen, as per the site rules minimum.
