The Changing: Gender Bender Love Story

Universal Remodeling Condition, the modern term for a largely unexplained phenomenon for a condition that has been a part of humanity since before written history. The How has been well researched for the last few decades, but for many centuries the Why has remained substantially enigmatic with theories ranging from a branch of evolution to extraterrestrial involvement. Historically individuals that underwent remodeling were persecuted as seen as monsters or demons when many were ignorant of what they had observed, not recognizing the organic miracle before them. In more modern times, individuals that underwent the biological changes are increasingly normalized in mainstream culture with a small, yet, very vocal minority protesting the inclusion of the group in question. For the individuals afflicted or blessed by URC, their lives would never be the same. Everything that made them themselves would undergo vast changes. Their bodies, minds and beings changed. Their dreams and ambitions lost and made way for new ones they’d never thought unbelievably before the change. They lost themselves but were remodeled into someone new, someone different, someone that was still them inside.
For Hirayama Shiori, or at least her male self before the remodeling, Iwao never thought it’s happen to them. It was at the beginning of the summer break that them suffered from what they thought was simple heat stroke, but it was the first symptom of URC. Iwao’s condition worsened day by day and they were moved into the hospital to care. Within in a week Iwao was inside the well documented Permuto Vessel, a human sized womb like sack surrounded in layers of sticky web like silk that clung to anything it could hold onto to. Two months later, one being who was known as Iwao, emerged from the Vessel a new person. Hirayama Shiori was born to a new body, a new mind and desires.
