The Super Smash tournament, the multiversal event that united people from worlds far apart, brought forth by those that controlled the universe, watched by their servants, the Master and Crazy Hands. The way that one found their way into the tournament was finding an invitation in the mail, even if one didn’t have a traditional mailbox. A few fighters had been quite confused when they had found a slip of paper with an odd logo on it for the first time. The Smash tournament was rather simple, it was about fighting and knocking your opponents off the platform. No serious injuries were ever dealt in the combat. And if someone had gotten hurt there were ways to heal them. This meant that no one ever had to hold back. Smash was almost contradictory in nature, fighting and brutal violence could happen but no blood or consequences for it. This meant that fighters as scary as Ridley would go toe-to-toe with smaller guys like Kirby.
Smash was also curious in that it took place in a real place, one that people could travel through throughout the multiverse. The Smash Village, not to be confused with Smashville, was a weird little piece of what seemed to be a wider world, existing in a place that could be reached wherever you were. If you were from Mario’s world, all you would have to do is jump down a pipe to get there. If you were from Samus’s world, all you would have to do is find the right coordinates. Yet, there was little point in going to Smash Village unless the tournament was on, there were no permanent residents there. All it would have been is empty homes. It resided by the beach, it had restaurants when tournaments were going on. Thankfully the tournaments tended to last a few months, meaning that people had places to live.
Currently, there was a tournament going on, this one had been titled the Ultimate tournament, the longest one to ever happen. The tournament consisted of all the fighters that had ever taken part in it and more, with the door still being open for more guests. It was quite an achievement that the others had been able to come back. It had seemed that the way to their universes had been lost to time before the Ultimate tournament had been announced. It was quite a surprise to some that they had been allowed back into the tournament. Snake himself was surprised when he got the invitation. He had himself shipped to the Smash Village in a cardboard box, which had somehow found itself back to the Smash Village. That was the most impressive part of how it worked.
The fight going on in the present was the fierce Samus Aran, in her full set of armor, fighting against Palutena’s loyal angel, Pit. It was not a deciding match at all, elimination wouldn’t start for another two weeks. No, this was to build up points for the elimination round; the more points a team had won, the more it was allowed to use items beyond the Smash Ball in the elimination round. Samus had been dominating the fight against Palutena’s angel. The crowd was cheering, except Palutena who was screaming at Pit. Yelling things like “You can take her down!” and telling him that he wouldn’t get a special dinner after the battle. Not that it was in time to save him from getting eliminated. In the most obvious way possible, in fact, Samus had charged up a shot and fired at the angel, sending him flying away, knocked off that platform.
The crowd went wild. Pit would appear on the platform again moments later, looking tired but no worse for wear after the battle he just had. Samus, in her Varia Suit, walked over to Pit and offered him her hand. “Not bad. That was a good fight. Don’t know if your goddess agrees.”
Palutena could be seen looking angry, crossing her arms but trying not to seem like a total sore loser. That was hard for her, however...
