The common room could hold fifty people of they were rather friendly. Thirty would be barely comfortable, twenty would be normal capacity. Tonight there were nearly seventy. The Innkeeper was a heavy set jovial man of near fifty. His good wife was past mid forties and worked the kitchen with two of the eldest daughters. One was 26 and the other was 24. Both were married so worked in the kitchen where groping hands would not be a problem. Camby had four other daughters, two of them adopted, they were 21, 20, 20, and the youngest was 18. They worked the tables and tonight they had four women from the brothel hired to lend a hand.
The crowd was due to the Baron hiring adventurers to go into the High Moors. Rumors of a gathering of Lizardmen tribes to make raid the local settlements had people on edge. Not wishing to send his troops away in case there was trouble the Baron had come up with an alternate solution. Hire adventurers to go into the Northern Moor and locate any gathering horde of tribes. It seemed like a win-win to most people. Tonight they would enjoy a last night under a roof before heading out in the morning.
It was a tough crowd, and Camby was hoping against hope there would be no trouble. Normally he felt pretty confident he could handle trouble but not tonight. He had hired a pretty half elf bard to sing and dance. He had offered her an 80/20 split and a room if she could keep the peace tonight. He would be glad to lose 10% of the take if he did not have a bunch of dead people tonight to deal with!
Minidy Mendez knew what Camby wanted and she was playing the fiddle tonight. Light happy music to lighten the mood. When someone bumped into another she was there in a flash getting her petite body between anyone involved, a hip bump there and a slow grind to a leg there and she was keeping the peace as well as getting several coins.
When the catwoman came in several males noticed her at once. The cat's had a reputation as being a hot lay. They were rare and these fellas wanted to check out the thick muscled feline. Mindy saw them and slipped between them as she played her fiddle. She did a sort of backward lean into Tawny smiling her warmest smile. "Hello beautiful, are we still on for tonight?" She spun away looking at the much larger men who looked confused. "Sorry gents the lady is sleeping in my room tonight." Mindy swung around in a pirouette and going to her toppy toes to kiss one of them on the cheek. "No sense in fighting over a lady you have no chance with?"
The men departed, some grumbling. Mindy winked at Tawny and noticed her sexy green eyes for the first time. She licked her lips, "Sorry Miss. Bartender is giving me a big bonus for tonight if I can keep the peace. That lot was likely to fight over having you and well, if you are inclined toward any of them be my guest." Mindy continued playing as she spoke. She slid past Tawny "but I do have a room, it only has one bed but I wouldn't mind sharing."
Mindy continued on toward another table that appeared to be getting rowdy. Seems someone was claiming they had been tricked? It was going to be a hard earned bonus. Mindy was game and her red haired bounced as she danced and slithered through the tight packed crowd.
Kraggar was standing at the bar. He had yet to join any of the groups heading North in the morning. Some he knew would not want him. Others he wanted no part of himself. Thus far he had avoided any reputation as a bandit and he intended to not tarnish that. He wanted a room and a warm body to spend the night with. That was when he saw her.
She was all elf, to a fault, willowy, pale, with hair the color of spun gold. She looked almost too delicate to be real. How could anyone actually exist in the world being so sculpted in the perfect image of femininity. That golden hair extending to her waist, worn in an intricate hair style. Kraggar was smitten just watching her slip through the crowd like a ghost.
Four humans noticed her, rogues to the man. They surrounded her, one touching her hair, another his hand on her tight round ass. Two i front of her were just crude in comment and demeanor. Kraggar was annoyed. He stepped in and glared at the men. They were backing away when Camby leaned over "any trouble here gents?"
Kraggar never took his eyes off the men but shook his head "all good here Innkeeper. I was jsut about to guide my friend here to a table. Two bowels of stew and a salad for the lady." He smiled at Niallill Dawnchilde "my name is Kraggar miss. Would you be so kind as to tell me yours?"
Ryder MacCloud sat in a back corner near a window. He disliked crowds, tonight though he had little choice as he had a room upstairs already and he planned on enjoying the night in a bed under a roof. The High Moors would offer no such comfort and he fully expected to be there for several weeks at least. This was searching for a needle in a haystack. No clues and only vague reports were to be had about this Lizardman gathering.
He saw what was to happen just before it occurred. A large barbarian was deep in his cups and he was staggering toward a blue skinned Tiefling in a tight black outfit. He noticed her white freckles and dark blur hair even as he picked up his bowl and mug of honeyed mead.
Sure enough the barbarian nearly slammed into her and her only recourse was to sit in the chair opposite Ryder. Ryder smiled meekly and nodded his head "sure I would enjoy some company have a seat. Could I order you some stew? It is meaty and very tasty in my not so humble opinion."
