David awoke slowly, stretching his back as he arose in response to the sun shining through his poorly-designed venetian blinds. He grumbled as he walked over to the window, scratching his back and yawning as he fiddled with the cord and handle on the blinds, struggling to get them to close tight enough to restrict the cursed sunlight. After what seemed like a half hour of fiddling (but was, in reality, fifteen seconds) he dismissed the activity as an exercise in futility. He seized his alarm clock from his bedside table like it had a grudge against him. It was half-past noon. He grumbled something so incoherent that even he wasn't sure what he had said, although it had something to do with 'might as well, bout time'.
For a few moments, he hunted about the floor for something. Eventually, he held a pair of boxers out in front of him with a look of vague triumph on his face. He pulled them on and ran a hand through his fly-away blonde hair. He stepped out into the hallway between his room and his sister's and trudged down towards the stairs, intending to get a bowl of Cocoa Puffs from the kitchen downstairs. Maybe see if there was anything good on Cartoon Network. There usually wasn't any more, not since they stopped showing the old Cartoon-Cartoon cartoons like the Powerpuff Girls and Johnny Bravo.
