I would like to do a game based on the Soul Mates Article by the XKCD comic creator. The article isn't long, but the hypothetical world that it outlines is fascinating, and can be expanded on in interesting ways, I think. I would like to set an RPG in this hypothetical universe.
Here's the concept:
Every person has a soulmate, and they will know one another the second they gaze into each other's eyes. Society has reorganized itself to facilitate maximum eye contact. However, the likelihood of meeting one's soulmate is still exceptionally low. It's become a lonely world. Some people devote decades of their lives to looking for their soulmate, some fake a soulmate encounter and live the lie, others give up on the idea of soulmates entirely living their mediocre lives with the knowledge that the extraordinary is out there and they've stopped looking for it. For all that fairy tales in our world make soul mates out to be a wonderful blessing, in reality, the existence of mostly unattainable perfection is for many a curse.
I would like to play a pair of soulmates in this world and have to navigate the decisions that they have made up to that point, and what meeting their soulmate means going forward. For my own character's part, he watched his mother waste his entire young life looking for her soulmate, and refused to do the same. He dated a bit, all with the knowledge that the person he was with was not his soulmate, and settled down with a kind man, who made him laugh and who he could build a life with. It wasn't perfect. They were definitely not an ideal match in some ways. But their relationship was based on compromise and effort. It was work, but he thought it was worth it. Then he met his soulmate. For all that it obviously hurt him, his partner insisted that he had to see it through, to explore it. He couldn't simply turn his back and never know.
Some other possible complications: your character might not speak the same language or live on the same continent as mine, your character might not have expected something about mine and it is not something he'd have wanted in another person, your character might not be thrilled that mine had given up on him - not once but twice. In short, this is a slow burn, that will ideally start out in a not great place and have the relationship build over time. This will be about people having to sort out what being soul mates means to them and for their lives.

Some things about me:
- I prefer to play in Google Docs, but can play via email if needed.
- I can write varying lengths of posts, but typically will write about a half page to a page and a half per post.
- OOC chat is fun, and I'm happy to engage if you like. I have Discord and can chat there, but will not use it for the actual RP.
- My post rate is somewhere between every day and every other day, but may be slower during busy periods. I will not pressure you for posts and am patient about waiting. If you are amenable I may ping you via discord or something if it's been a long time.
- I'm looking for at least 80% plot here, with smut for character development purposes.
- If there's something else you would like to know, please don't hesitate to ask.
