Val looked at the Pokemon Professor, and took the Pokeball he handed her. "What Pokemon did you give me, Professor?" She asked, looking curiously up at him. Then she held the pokeball out in front of her. As the ball opened, with a white flash, she heard a sound, the cry of her very first Pokemon. Looking down, she seen a puppy Pokemon. He was fire type, Val's favorite type. "Oh! Look at you!" She exclaimed as she knelt down and pet the Growlithe she just received. Looking at him, she couldn't let him stay in that pokeball. "I'm just going to let him follow me. I don't like him in there." Then she walked out, and took a look at the scenery outside. "Well, how about it boy? We ready to go take on some wild pokemon?" She said, walking to the edge of the tall grass. She had all she needed to help him grow, and keep him healthy.

Then she looked at him again, and entered the tall grass, waiting for their first fight. It wouldn't be long before they were ready to take on a low level trainer. She kept him healthy and he eventually leveled up enough that they would be taking on trainers with their low level Pokemon as well. Looking to become the Champion in her region, she was eager to have her Growlithe rise the ranks of Pokemon and become Champion with her.

The Growlithe barked out, being out of his Pokeball and saw a human female. He barked out at her and felt her soft hand pet his head. As a trainer Pokemon, he was trained a bit with the understanding that he would form a bond with the human. Seeing her happy expression made him smile and bark back, happy to go and follow by her side amongside the tall grass. He would protect his trainer and that wonderful smile on her face.

Over the next few days, he would become strong through her care. He appreciated how she always fed him on time, groomed him so he would have a good coat and play with him. She is a good trainer and worthy of him. As such, whenever he would fight, he would do so for her. Through the weeks together, he fought some of the various local Pokemon ehre, becoming stronger and learning new techniques to go out and ensure victory for her sake.

He sniffed the air and saw someone approach the two. It was a female around the age of his trainer and judging by her tone, she was familiar with her.

"Hey Val, long time no see. Looks like we both got our Pokemon! How about a Pokemon battle?" the girl said. She said her name was Ramona and lived in proximity of Val. Apparently, they grew up in the same area. Ramona meanwhile when she realeased her Pokemon, it was a Luxio.

Growlithe became on the defensive and prepared to accept the challenge.
