Tommy Thompson was once an accountant for the Glendale Company. He was doing a great job there with the numbers. Then one day, there was a major incident. The money that the company made…gone. There wasn’t a single penny left. The company was left high and dry. However, there was a silver lining to this. The accountant, Tommy Thompson, was last seen placing bets on the horses. Thanks to an anonymous tip from an unknown source, the police swarm to the race track and arrested Mr. Thompson of multiple counts of embezzlement and fraud. Two days after the arrest, there was a plea hearing as the crowd muttered indistinctively as the court clerk begins to speak loudly, “Docket Number 05-4829. The People vs. Tommy Thompson. He is charged with multiple counts of embezzlement and multiple counts of fraud.” The clerk hands him the clipboard containing the information of Mr. Thompson and his crimes. The judge turns his attention to Mr. Thompson and his defense attorney. “So, you are the one that cost the company millions. It is a very charge. Now, how does the defendant plead?” Thompson spoke to the judge, “Not guilty Your Honor.” The judge turns to the prosecutor, “The People on bail.” The prosecutor responds, “The People request remand. The defendant is clearly a flight risk. He siphoned off millions of the company’s money, and you know what he did with that money. He gambled it all away. There isn’t a cent left on the company.” The Prosecutor has presented a compelling and argumentative case against the defendant. Tommy Thornton’s lawyer spoke, “Your Honor, my client has” The judge swiftly raise his hand to interrupt the defense attorney, “I have heard enough. I do not wish to hear anymore coming from you.” Those brown eyes coming from the judges gave both the defense attorney and Mr. Thompson a stern look. “The defendant is remanded, and he’ll surrender the passport."

The matter of the hearing came to a close with Mr. Thompson being escorted by the two policemen to jail until the trial date set in stone. Two week after the bail hearing, there was a trial with the same judge, same prosecutor, and the same defense attorney. The trial went by smoothly because of all the evidence that the prosecutor is using against Mr. Thompson. The prosecutor spoke to the jury as if he was painting a picture on how Mr. Thompson was siphoning millions of dollars of the company money all for satisfying his gambling greed. After much argument between the defendant and the prosecutor, the jury went from the courtroom to a separate room for deliberate with one another. It took them a single day to carefully make a unanimous decision. After a long careful discussion among the jurors, it was unanimous. It’s a group decision among the jurors. The jurors returned and took their seats. The defendant and his lawyer rose from their seats. The judge asked the head juror, “Have you reached the decision?” The head juror nods his head and spoke, “We have Your Honor.” The head juror unfolds the paper and reads aloud in the courtroom, “For the multiple counts of embezzlement and fraud, we found the defendant. Guilty on all counts!” The people in the courtroom roared with satisfaction and excitement until the judge banged the gavel several times, “Quiet! Quiet in the courtroom!” The roaring crowd comes into a halt as the judge turns his attention to the defendant, “Mr. Thompson. You were once a great accountant, but you secretly took every cent of the company’s money all because for your greed. I despised people like you. Therefore,” The judge raised the gavel over his head, “The Court will not…sentence you to prison. Instead, I will force you to relinquish your remaining assets over to the Association where they will sort it out. Failure to comply will have the authorities come over and take those assets from you. Do you understand?” The lawyer then whispered in his ear, suggesting in have his assets relinquished over to the Association. Tommy just nods his head slowly with the look of defeated written across his face. The judge nods his head, “Good. In two weeks there will be someone coming to your home to finalize the arrangement.” Thus, the matter of this case came to a close with the judge carried out the sentencing through the sound of the banging gavel.

Two weeks have passed since the trial, and Tommy was sitting on the couch trying to find the words to tell his only daughter that he had practically sold her. It was all because the law that was passed that states that the person(s) doesn’t have any money left, then he/she will be forced to sell the remaining asset(s) to the Association. The Association that does lucrative business, but most of all: It is the creation of The Slave Contract. The Slave Contract is a binding agreement between two parties indicating that the sold person is the slave for the remainder of his/her lifetime. Tommy placed his hands right on his lap with his brown eyes, “Daughter!”His loud voice attempts to reach her from the living room, “Can you come down here? I need to speak to you. It is important!” Tommy waited for her to come to the living room to tell her about her the bad news. Once she is within the vicinity, he took a deep breath through his lungs and let out a heavy sigh. It was nothing he can do. It was either that or go to prison for a long time, so he took the only way out possible. He lifted his head and looks at her with the defeated demeanor, “I’m sorry to tell you this, and it was the only legitimate decision that my lawyer suggested. The court forced me to sell you at a high price and someone is coming here to…claim you.” Outside of Tommy’s residence was a man wearing a yellow snazzy suit from the neck down. He carries a brown briefcase on his right hand. Following him is man, who is a licensed teacher, his whole life. He has dedicated his whole life helping his fellow students at Apple Valley High School.

Zachery Eliot Spencer, Zack to his friend and Mr. Spencer to his students. He has a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in education. Zack does have a luxurious lifestyle, yet he’s modest. Some believes that he’s a strict teacher, yet some people think that he’s lenient to his teachings. He dressed himself in accordance for a formal look as one would think of him as a handsome man in a suit. He wears a long-sleeve white buttoned-up shirt, black slacks with a matching black suit, with a black leather belt around his waist to hold up those pants of his, black suede shoes, around his neck is a black tie to suggest a proper look. Furthermore, he has short dark brown hair and brown eyes, staring right at the snazzy lawyer. A heavy sigh spilled from his lips, “Why do I have to do this?” The lawyer responded, “Because you are the only candidate that’s available Mr. Spencer, and you have already paid the amount necessary to…claim her.” There is an evil look on the face of the lawyer, “Besides, would you rather see her sold to the brothel and believe me, the people there are not very nice. Her father has to pay the price for embezzlement, and who knows how many years she has to live in that brothel before she can return home to her beloved father.” The thought of that alone made Zack feel disgusted with a little shiver, “Well, as much as I would love to see her selling her in the brothel. Might as well…claim her for myself. I am doing this only to save her. I really don’t want to see her out…there on the street, practically becoming a whore.” Upon hearing Mr. Spencer’s statement, the lawyer smiled “Good. You have made the right choice.” Finally, there was a knock on the door, so Tommy stood up went to the door. Tommy took a deep breath and opened the door. Once the door was open, the lawyer swept in with the math teacher following him. Mr. Spencer gave the father a cold stare, before turning his attention to her daughter.

Caroline Thompson was a respectable student at Apple Valley High School, she had been known to cause ruckus any chance she got though. Whether it be skipping classes, skipping school, cheating on tests, getting caught under the bleachers drinking or smoking. Caroline always found herself mixed up in anything going on around the school. In her mind, it mattered not due to the fact that she was a B+ student, never failed a class or gotten held back. Keeping her distance from the sports end of things and the popular kids, she was often found either by herself or hanging out with the outcasts. On rare occasion she could be spotted talking or walking with the popular group of students but it was a rare chance. Caroline was a Junior in high-school, hitting the prime at 17 years old with looks that could make her pass as an adult. Caroline was known for her rebellious ways, especially once the rumor began flying around school about her fathers way, and fathers embezzlement hearing.

It was no secret that her father was charged, that her household had lost everything. During the past week Caroline often was not seen around the school and if she was she managed to sneak out without being caught. Tommy had caused numerous parents of fellow students to be displaced from their jobs or relocated to other places of employment. He was greedy, and thus causing hardships on her. Having kept herself away from the court proceedings and visits with the lawyers, she was under the impression when she heard he had to sell he assets that it meant their house, his car, his belongings. Never in a million years did she ever consider she was the asset he was going to sell in order to keep himself out of prison. Hearing her father call her from the living room she rolled her eyes as she finished lacing up her converse shoes, she headed out. "What is it father?" she questioned not in the mood for much conversation since he had been causing enough trouble in her life at the moment.

Entering the living room, the words that escaped his mouth were the last thing she ever expected to here. "You got to be kidding me!" she screamed, tears already welling up in her eyes. "Im not leaving my home, you can not just sell me to the highest bidder, this is not right. This is unfair!" she proceeded to scream and yell as she stood there. Her body trembling with fear and anger as he continued to explain to her that he apparently had no other choice. "When will this even happen?" she questioned starting to plot her escape to run away from the mess her father had caused. That was until she heard the knock on the door, she was frozen in her spot as her father let the men in. The first male she saw was obviously his lawyer, which she had seen on very rare occasions passing through the living room or dinning room of her house, it was the second man that caused her to gasp and step back in horror before turning to her father. It was non other than her own math teacher, a teacher than seemed respectable and well liked. Never in a million years did she ever imagine to be basically owned by someone she looked up to, trusted as a teacher or ever a teacher at that

"You can not do this!" she screamed at him, the tears freely falling from her face as she continued to step back. Caroline's eyes darted from the door to the three men that now had full control over her life. "I wont agree to this, this is illegal in so many ways!" she began yelling at all three of them. Before she could turn and run her father yelled. "Hush up!" he stood, and his body towered over her, causing her to instantly become quiet and shrink into silence. "Gentleman, please have a seat. Lets get this over with." he retorted once he looked at the men standing there, not taking another glance at his daughter who was frozen against the wall. Standing there watching as the men took their seats, she fell to the floor, her knees resting on her chest while she held them. Her hazel eyes jumping from figure to the next, the black and red colored hair fell loose over her shoulders and she listened to the conversation take place in front of her.

The man in yellow snazzy suit waltzes inside like he owns the house with that crooked grin on his face. “My my…such a lovely house you have here my good sir.” His words are directed towards Tommy with a ninety-degree bow against his waist. When he straightens his posture back, there is an evil smirk across his lips, “If you hadn’t embezzled and gambled, then I wouldn’t be coming here, and your lovely daughter would’ve lived a normal and satisfying life. Alas, it cannot be helped. Now…” Mr. Sterling turns to Mr. Spencer and gestures him to come closer. Zachery let out a heavy sigh and gets close to the lawyer. Those brown hues fell upon Caroline, seeing her eye to eye. He gave her such a cold stare along with a cold response, “Caroline…” He already knew her because she goes to the same school at Glendale High, where he is the teacher. He doesn’t like her because she's one of those people that fell to the bad crowd, yet she made passing grades which was one of her plus sides. Still, to think that the one who will be claiming her is the teacher who she despised, and he doesn’t like it one bit. Mr. Sterling kindly steps into both Caroline and the father with his brown eyes fell upon her. His left hand grabbed his chin to take a closer look, studying her “Hmm…Well, I don’t mind if she has a rebellious streak. Just as long as she finalized the paperwork, then I’ll be a happy camper. Right, Zack?” Mr. Sterling gave Zack a gentle nudge only for him to make a heavily sigh, “Let’s get this over with.”

The yellow-suited lawyer nods his head not once, but twice “Well well, someone wanted to get this done quickly. I’m thinking that you have something in mind for her. Hmm?” Zack turned his attention towards the lawyer with his cold stare. Mr. Sterling turns away and looks at the father and daughter, “Anyway!” The lawyer goes over to the couch and sets the briefcase down on the coffee table, “Miss. This involves you as well. Now, I will explain about the contract in detail. Right! Almost forgot to introduce myself. I apologize…” His hand placed against his chest and gave them a slight bow, “My name is Mr. Sterling. Charmed I am sure.” His thick Brooklyn accent went through his lips. His right-hand gestures over to Zachery, “I take it that you already know Mr. Spencer. He was kind enough to join us on the process. Now…” The lawyer sits down to open up the briefcase, “Now, let me explain to you two. The moment you committed a heinous crime was the moment your daughter’s freedom has ended. In order words, you don’t have any other choice. Well, there is, but…you won’t like it. Trust me. Five years ago, the law has passed that involves crimes of embezzlement; like fraud, extortion, blackmail, blah blah blah. Anyway, if the person committed these types of crimes.” A wicked grin plastered across the lawyer’s face, “That person will not go to jail and instead will be forced to relinquish all their assets over to The Association. Now, Mr. Thompson was forced to sell you over to us, and then there was a process of finding a person suitable to…claim you. That’s why Mr. Spencer is here. To claim you, or how should I word it. Right. Mr. Spencer is your Master the moment your daughter sign the contract. Now, this contract that I am showing you is called the Slave’s Contract. Please look it Mr. Thompson, and when you are ready. Please have you and your daughter have to sign right on the dotted line.”

If they were to pick up and read the contract, it will explain in detail: This contract indicates that The Slave has to live with The Master establishment. While inside The Master’s establishment, The Slave will be provided with food, water, shelter, and a place to sleep. The Slave have few rights: The Slave has protection from severe bodily harm, BUT the contract went out of its way to make clear that spanking, slapping, and possibly light whipping are allowed. Also, The Slave has to wear the collar that The Master provided, indicating that it is The Master’s property. The Slave has to obey The Master, which is written in bold and capitalize. His word is law. However, there is a clause which is called The Sexual Refusal Clause. This clause states that The Slave can refuse The Master's Sexual Order (like foreplay, sex, oral, etc…), and the Master will have to respect The Slave’s Refusal. For example: when The Master asked The Slave to strip to her bra and panties, The Slave can say, “No. I will not strip for you.” and The Master will respect her refusal. This is The Slave’s Lifeline. The Slave can refuse The Master’s order three times. After The Slave’s Third Refusal, The Slave has no choice, but to obey The Master’s every word. No ifs, ands, nor buts. “I did mention that there are other ways, but your daughter wouldn’t like it and her buyout period has expired. So young lady!” He raised his voice in hopes she heard it, “You have a choice to either sign the contract or be forced to a timely auction where they will pay top dollar for someone such as you.” The snazzy lawyer is giving her a choice in the matter, either sign the contract or be auctioned off. Zack stood on his feet and slowly approaches Caroline before kneeling on one knee. He whispered to her, “Listen. When I first heard of it, I don’t like it. To be honest, I hate it. I’m doing this to save you from a worst possible fate. Prostitution.”

Her world was changing right before her frightened hazel eyes, and there was absolutely nothing in her power to change it. Everything she had known and grown accustomed to was bring ripped from her life with just a few moments. Listening carefully as the man in the yellow suit speak, her body shuddered in not only fear, but disgust. He was speaking only the truth, her own fathers choices had set her up for this outcome. His need for greed and wealth became to important to him, he had risked everything including her life. These choices had landed her in the hands of a man she despised, she hated Mr. Spencer. His voice just as cold as his glare as he looked at her, she returned it was just as much hate and anger as she could manage "Spencer." Caroline hated authority, would disobey authority at any chance she was given. Never respecting someone of higher rank, she never used the correct etiquette that was required when speaking to elders. Snapping her head out of the lawyers grasp on her chin, she glared at them. If only looks could literally kill people, they would both be dead where they stood. Unable to will her body to move in fear of what punishment might be obtained from trying to escape from either of the three men in the room, she sat frozen against the wall.

As her teacher spoke with urgency to get this meeting and arrangement concluded her stomach began to do flips, causing her to feel sickly. Wrapping her arms around herself tightly she held back sobs as well as the urge to lash out and scream. Rolling her eyes as the apparent lawyer started to formally introduce him self she made a gagging noise loud enough to hear over his instruction for her to apparently pay very close attention. "Maybe it should be Mr. Death Warrant, Mr. Life Stealer." she scoffed "Or even Mr. Jack Ass" she retorted. Knowing that her attitude and ignorance was not going to save her, but at this point nothing was going to save her. Every word the man who claimed to be a lawyer rang through her ears, every detail he willingly gave caused her body to shudder at the thought of what might possibly happen once she was in arms reach of her so called math teacher. This was giving her a reason to believe he was just as vile as this lawyer came off as. Caroline watched her father with pleading eyes, trying to beg him to rethink this, to find another way. Pleading him to not take from her everything she had ever known from her.

As her father took the contact in his hands, she wiped away a few tears that had escaped. Watching as he read it, and without a second thought pulled the pen from her coat jacket she cried out "Father! No do not do this! Please!" but it was no use, the pen glided almost without any care in the world. Once signed he slide the contract across the coffee table towards the direction she was in, pen on top. "Caroline, you will sign this contract and accept it. You will pack what ever Mr. Spencer requests you bring with you and you will leave with him as per the agreement the contract specifies." he took a deep breath. "If you refuse to do this, I will be forced to use the authority of your father and legal guardian to sign your name." he dropped his head into his hands. "If you choose to fight leaving, then he will have every right to manhandle you out that door. Please do not make me witness this." he muttered. Before she was able to will her body to move, she saw Mr. Spence kneeling before her. Snarling at the words he whispered, she spoke as she swallowed a sob. "I will never obey you, You are a filthy liar and I will get away from your hold the first chance I get." she muttered between gritted teeth as she slowly stood, allowing her back to drag across the wall. She began the slow walk towards her father and the lawyer. Reaching a trembling hand down to grab the contract, she picked it up and began to read the details within herself, letting the idea sink in before reaching for the pen. Looking at her father she wiped the tears from her face once again. The idea of an auction or prostitution was not something her wanted to endure so her only option was to sign it. "I will never return to your home, if I ever manage to get free, or released Ill never come home." she reached for the pen. With a trembling hand she proceeded to sign her life away. Letting the papers fall from her hand she stepped back taking a deep breath before glaring at Mr. Spencer, the thoughts of running were very evident in her eyes and she eyed him and the front door that was only feet away from either of them.

Zack was a bit surprised to hear that she won’t obey and will get away the first chance she gets. However, it didn’t faze him as he doesn’t like her as well. Still, it won’t matter to her once she signs the contract. The snazzy lawyer was surprised to hear such a response from the daughter and the father. However, he clapped his hands together with the biggest of grins. “Good good. However,” when mention that Caroline will get away the first chance she gets, he quickly responds “I wouldn’t do that if I were you Ms. Thompson. Know that if you try to flee from the master, then all he has to do is to give a call and I’ll send my professional people after you. They are good in capturing runaways such as you ma’am. Besides, the master has every right to ‘manhandle’ you in ways possible. A pretty young woman like you might even enjoy it.”

Once more, he clapped his hands together while he approached Mr. Thompson, “Now now. Let’s sign the contract you two. The sooner you two sign, the quicker she’ll leave this life behind.” The lawyer couldn’t help but produced a wide grin in anticipation of watching them sign the contract. Zack slowly stood up and watched them finalize the paperwork. First, the father signed the contract across the dotted line with no hesitation. Then, the snazzy lawyer watched her read the contract and picked up the pen. The lawyer produced a satisfying grin watching her sign her life away. In the instant, the lawyer snatched up the paperwork and quickly read through it. “Uh huh. Uh huh.” He nods his head not once but twice, and stacked the contract neatly. “Good. Thank you for signing. To be honest, if Ms. Thompson didn’t sign it then things might take a drastic turn for her but.”

The lawyer just smiled evilly with his hues stared directly at Caroline. “At least she knows her place now…” In one fluid motion, the lawyer puts the original documents into the briefcase and closed it. He has the copied to be given to Mr. Spencer. “Alrighty then Ms. Thompson as per contract states. You are to gather your belongings and leave with Mr. Spencer who will be your master for now on. Come on. Chop chop.” The lawyer clapped his hands together with an evil grin, “You don’t want to be punished on your first day right? Oh! Also, it is the last time you be living her, so you wanted to say goodbye or anything. Now is the time.” The lawyer quickly rushed towards Zack and gave him the copy of the contract, “here your copy of the contract to read and familiarize yourself with.” Zack turns his attention to Caroline, “Right… Come on…I don’t have all day to stand around you know. I’ll wait here while you gather your belongings.” Mr. Sterling added, “Ms. Thompson. You should be lucky that Mr. Spencer is a kind and generous master.”

Caroline laughed. "I have plenty of spots that I am able to go and hide and no one would ever find me." she growled towards the lawyer testing him. As of now she still stood the place she currently called home. "Oh great, now I get to get beat everyday, considering he hates me as it is." she mumbled as she crossed her arms trying her best to put a solid poker face on being okay with what was currently happening right in front of her. Once the contract was signed by her father than herself she felt like she was just another asset someone else could throw away. Turning her attention to her math teacher or otherwise now known as her 'Master' she rolled her eyes, "How much did you have to pay in order to deal with me an a daily basis, now even outside of school?" she questioned as her attention turned to her father.

Hearing the lawyer mention her knowing her place she could not help but let a small laugh escape her lips. "He will never hear me call him that, he wont hear me speak at all." she turned her attention to her father once again. "I hope your happy with yourself in every way possible, I wonder what mom thinks about all this, about the person you have become. " slowly turning she vanished up the stairs to her bedroom. Entering the room she slammed the door shut, locking it in the process. She wanted a few minutes to herself before she walked away from the only room she had ever slept in, the only room she ever called hers. Having grown up in one place, made this the worst experience she thought she may have to ever endure. Throwing a duffle bag and her back pack on the bed, she began to sift through clothes. Trying to take the most important articles, and leaving the one she could either recreate or purchase later on somehow. With trembling hands she picked up a photo frame that held a photo of her and her mother and slid it into the duffle bag, along with a few other memento's. Turning to her desk, she grabbed all the makeup and other essentials a girl may need before throwing them into the bag as well. Snatching her hoodie off the end of the bed, she grabbed both bags and made her way down stairs and stopped in the door way.

"I guess this is it." she stated as her father stood and walked towards her, side stepping him and closer to the front door she shook her head. "You have no claim to me any more, once this is over and once I walk out that door you no longer have any children." she spat at him through gritted teeth. "You caused this, you caused me to have to live a life that god knows what may happen to me, you can live with the consequences." she looked at the three of them and walked out the front door of the only home she ever had known. Without looking back she made it to the center of her lawn and waited, today was not the day to try and escape. No, she would wait, she would make them all believe she had just accepted her fate. "Soon" she whispered to herself as she heard the front door behind her shut, her body jumping at the sound.
