My Character

Julius Benson AKA JB

Personality: Julius party animal, easy-going, calm and collected on the outside; even if he is freaking out on the inside, he was always a quiet ocean. He had it rough as a kid but didn’t let that stop him from living life to the fullest. He’s brilliant, even if he is an average student on his report card. He just plays a part as he has a reputation to uphold. Though once you get to know him, he seems down to earth.

Description: Julius stands 5’11” tall, weighing 165 pounds. Julius trains once a week in a mixed martial arts gym. He has sparring sessions but never was seriously thinking of competing. Julius also exercises regularly year-round, taking his football career more seriously as Julius gets closer to graduation. He has various tattoos, all representing different things from his life experiences, good and bad.

Trapped
Julius was born to Jorge and Claudia Ortega. Jorge was an abusive drunk who used to beat up Claudia in his drunken rages. When Julius turned 12, he tried to stick up for Claudia. Jorge switched his attention to Julius then. Not wanting to lose her son, his mother covered his bruises with makeup as he had the same skin tone as her. At the age of 13, Jorge was drunk at work on a construction site and fell 13 stories, dying.
Julius and his mother moved around Oakland for some time. Julius met a friend his age instead of the usual older kids on the block slinging their rocks. Izzy was into football. Julius got into football. During the summer holidays of their last year in middle school, Izzy and Julius were in a drive-by aimed for Izzy's Older Brother. Izzy and his older brother died. Julius Watched Izzy chokes to death. Julius had experienced, but he knew Oakland was dangerous. Julius consoled Izzy's mom before she could see his body, Izzy's blood staining his hands and shirt.
Jeff & Chester
Julius was scouted by the then Quarterback Jeff Navaro. Julius learned how to talk to girls, drink obscene amounts of liquor, keep going, And read the area and make plays. When Julius reached his Junior Year, Jeff and Julius had started playing in the acoustic cafe. Jeff let Julius take Quarterback for the finals in that year despite knowing he could get a scholarship. Julius won the trophy and MVP for the second year in a row at that point. Julius still meets once a month with Jeff and some college friends to play at the Acoustic Cafe. Jeff, learning that Julius is in a band he agreed to let them play at the Bar. Chester is another friend who has done most of Julius’ tattoos but graduated before Jeff Is Julius's Tattoo artist and hook up for booze at his parties.
Sex Drugs & Rock
Julius was never really accepted by Doug; maybe it was just because Julius is a wild and rebellious teenager. Doug has tried, and they were just on different vibes. Julius respects Dou,g but he's come too late in Julius's life to be anything more than his mom's new husband. Julius still does all the things his mom taught him to do, like clean the house and such, but that never stops Julius from throwing parties. The first party he ever threw at Doug's mansion wasn't even his; it was Jeff's idea. Julius learned three things that night. All girls like confidence, know who your friends are, don't flirt with the devil in the blue dress. She's since graduated. Jeff was the only one who stayed and helped Julius clean the house. That's how Jeff and Julius became friends.

Name: Freija Sorensen.
Age: 20
Current Residence: A small, one bedroom, flat above a liquor store in down town Pacific Grove which she shares with her younger sister Astrid (17).
Family: Younger sister Astrid. Both parents dead in a car accident.
Relationship status: Divorced
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual.
Personality: Freija is something of a wild child who does enjoy a good party with booze flowing like rivers and pot to cloud up a room, and perhaps a few assorted pills. She is also very caring about her sister and does her best to keep Astrid out of trouble as much as possible and would do anything to keep her safe. She is creative and artistic dabbling in a little bit of everything from playing the guitar and writing songs which she performs using a vintage drum machine and sequencer as back up (but is looking for a real band), to painting and writing poetry.

Back Story
Freija was born in San Fransisco but grew up in Pacific Grove's West End. After high school she studied art at the university of Berkeley where she met the love of her life, the one girl she could see herself going monogamous for, Danielle Summers whom she married within a year on a trip to Las Vegas. They were divorced only a few months later after Freija caught Danielle in bed with a fellow male art student. The two have not spoken since. She is currently not looking for any kind of long term relationship but few weekends pass when she doesn't hook up with someone or other, threeways are not entirely uncommon.

She moved back to Pacific Grove without graduating to take care of her younger sister after their parents died in a car accident. She now works at The Cove as a waitress and bartender. It is also where she play from time to time, sometimes joining other bands as a guest but mostly solo with her drum machine and sequencer.

Age: 18
Current Residence: A modest one-bedroom house on the outskirts of Pacific Grove
Family: A father who travels constantly for work, leaving him home alone. His mother died from cancer several years earlier.
Relationship status: None
Personality: On first glance, Marcus is relatively introverted. He doesn't place a huge emphasis on being part of a singular group of friends, instead making his way in school by talking to whoever he feels he might get along with. Even then, the conversations are usually surface level. With the few friends he feels closest to, Marcus is almost like a different person. He is more engaging, more easily brought to laughter, and overall more entertaining than his typical actions make him out to be. Marcus is relatively independent since he is generally left at home alone and makes a modest effort to stay active through sports and the gym, but also has a distinct interest in writing and practicing some instruments.

Physical Characteristics
Straight and short brown hair, hazel eyes. His skin is on the pale side, but has olive undertones. He's around 5'9, and is 140lbs. Marcus' body is relatively toned owing to his athletics.

He's slow to anger but is not opposed to taking it out on those he feels deserve it. Overall, he tries to stay friendly with most people, sometimes to a fault. Marcus is not a fan of confrontation but will not shy away if it comes to that.

Back Story
Marcus was born right here in Pacific Grove and has lived in his house his entire life. His life has been relatively quiet, especially since his mother passed away from cancer a few years ago, and his father took a new job requiring him to travel. Most weeks, Marcus has to care for himself. It leaves him little time to do anything other than classwork and attend practices for his sport. He tries to do some part-time work as a sign holder downtown, but has trouble managing his time to accommodate it. His classwork is average but he has dreams of leaving Pacific Grove forever and moving on to something bigger and better.

Ty stands at an average height of 5’10”, weighing 120 pounds, with various tattoos that he had done within the last two years. He is slim but athletic, keeping his form mainly for looks over physical strength. Ty often changes his hair though the natural colour is light brunette. He prefers to have it shaggy but understands that his hair often changes in his line of work.

Ty Johnson

Backstory
Ty Johnson is a Pacific Grove native. He grew up in Willow Park and went to the high school of the same name. Upon graduating, he left for Los Angeles. At first, he started as a solo singer on stage at open mics, where he met the rest of his band. Together they formed Ashes of Yesterday. Ty was 18 when they started the band; they had all been around the same age at the time. However, after being given a chance to perform at the famous Johnny Depp club, The Viper Room in West Hollywood, California, Ashes of Yesterday got noticed. Their music careers had gained some traction. Two years later, their first Studio album is a top 10 billboard lister, ranking at number 6 on the charts. After a country-wide tour, they are working on their second album. But as a surprise, Ty has moved back to Pacific Grove, buying a house on Mount Suttro.
