Heather slammed her hands onto the steering wheel of her car.
"No no no no no!" She shouted at the car. The engine was making an unpleasant knocking sound that she didn't know exactly what it was, but she was pretty sure that it wasn't good. She turned the wheel to the side, getting the car off of the road, and sighed. She grabbed her phone and looked at it, then swore loud enough to reverberate off the windows. No reception. She had a dead car and no way to call for help. It was already getting dark, and she had no idea where in the hell the nearest sign of life would be. She angrily got out of her car, adn popped the hood. SHe knew basically nothing about how ehr car worked, but she had to at least look at it, right?

She lifted the hood and the engine spat and hissed, steam rising from it. She swore again, slamming hte hood down and fighting the urge to just scream in frustration. There weren't many options at this point. She looked around and saw a sign listing that there was a town within the next eight miles. She nodded, adn went back to the car, locking it up, and grabbing her purse. With a determined set to her jaw she started walking. It was going to take her forever, but she didn't fancy just syaing in place either.

She'd gotten perhaps a half mile down the road when she saw headlights coming from behind her and turned, waving an arm and sticking out a thumb in desperation. With a little luck she could still salvage this, she could still make it!

It was almost a miracle that there were other people on the road this evening. The road was in bad shape and rarely used, the area basically uninhabited, and as Heather had already noticed, a phone didn't do one much good in these parts. Nevertheless, it seemed luck was on her side today, and the car slowed down, coming to a halt right beside her.

The window next to the driver's seat opened, and a young man's head popped out. He had short, sandy brown hair, a lean, clean-shaven face and rectangular glasses. Many would call him quite handsome, though not in a particularly masculine way. His smile had a jovial feeling to it, and his body language was calm and utterly unthreatening. Though it was hard to tell his exact height while he was sitting, he clearly wasn't very tall or sturdy. He was wearing a white dress shirt, with the sleeves rolled up to reveal forearms probably as slim as Heather's own.

"I take it you're the owner of that car I spotted on the roadside a while back?"
