Oh damn...looks like he was in the shit.

All Aoyama wanted... All he desired was freedom. He felt like a caged bird....No, he felt worse than that...Like a stranded whale mere centimeters away from the ocean--suffocating quietly as everyone watched. He often wondered if they were entertained. Their faces of stone; he could never decipher. His father had transformed their once happy abode into a prison. There were guards damn near every step of the way and Aoyama just couldn't take it anymore.

His escape plan was simple. While there were a lot of feet in the castle, they all had rounds, and that meant he could escape during the switching of shifts.
Such a simple plan had turned to shit.... Outside of the palace walls and half a day away from the village; the Prince found himself cornered by a group of brigands. Without much resistance his servant had been hacked to pieces. They planned on doing the same to him until they noticed his family crest seared into his black stallion. There was talk of selling him off to the highest bidder, insurrection against the king, and so on and so forth. For a group of heathens they sure had their heads in the clouds. The king would pay a hefty price for him. And while that seemed noble, he would only do so to lure out his captors so that they may be imprisoned and tortured.

After the death of the queen, the king had generically become a former shell of himself. It was sad... Despite that, here Aoyama was yet again causing his father strife and pain because of his own selfish wants. There is a part of the young prince that wants to feel regret for his actions... However, his need for growth and freedom were greater.

He stood alone, dark hair cascading the shimmer of honey blonde eyes. A sudden fear washed over his tall form as he realized he had no real protection. His clothing only served as covering. He wore no armor. The only thing he had for protection was a short sword who's hilt was encrusted with diamonds. Obviously this little accent made the weapon it rather difficult to wield. "You'll make a fine toy and an even better fortune." The leader breathed. "Oh I'm not so fun..." Aoyama replied as he reached beneath his dark tunic, slender fingers gracing the studded blade apprehensively.

Aoyama was trained in swordplay. He specialized in daggers and short swords. However, he wasn't very good... Kind of clunsy to be honest. And with that thought in mind, the prince stood his ground in silence waiting. Surely he stood no chance against eight war bred men... But, he would at least give them a fight.

Tachibana was riding through town when he heard a commotion. He had just gotten back from a war that was happening overseas. His hair was a little longer and he had lots of scars so no one would probably notice him except for his mother probably. He went up to the sound and saw that someone was being mugged. He got off his horse and sneaked up behind them slowly unsheathing his sword. "Um, excuse me. Don't think you should be threatening this person." He said in a sweet yet shy tone.

"And who the hell--?!" The leader fixed himself to speak but, when he turned to see where the voice had come from.. You could say they were all disturbed by the white haired male. He looked like someone from the castle and they knew they wouldn't be able to take on a knight on horseback. With no bows and only flimsy weaponry for small fry the leader scoffed. "For now....you are saved boy." The leader barked as he motioned his men to follow behind.

A huge breath escaped Aoyama as he dropped to his knees. "Geez...you really saved my ass." He spoke in a relieved tone. With both hands the prince tucked his dark hair behind his ears revealing honey eyes. "My escort is kinda dead annnnd those men took all we had save for my blade. However, if you escort me to the village and help me sell it I'll give you a nice chunk of my pay." Aoyama spoke rather nonchalantly as he stood. Sauntering over to his horse, he hoisted himself onto it with poise and grace.

He sheathed his sword and walked up to the prince. "You seem familiar. Have I met you before?" He asked. Tachibana's motto was to always show kindness. Not because of the rewards. But because it made his soul feel happy. Even though sometimes on the battlefield he has to dip his soul in darkness. And that leaves him seeking a type of salvation. "Also, you don't have to pay me. It's my honor as a knight to serve the innocent. Now, I do believe that if you are to roam the town you'd need to blend in with them. I'll pay for it." He smiled lightly as he got onto his horse.

"Blend in?" He questioned with a childish tilt of his head. "I thought I was..." He added motioning to himself. A simple black cloak and dark pants he assumed that was what the townsfolk wore. He even borrowed the uncharacteristic clothes from a servant. Of course he failed to realize that the shiny fabric was a dead giveaway to his status of wealth. Not to mention his horse bore the crest of his family. "You don't remind me of anyone in particular. Did you used to live in the palace?" The prince asked as his feet casually tapped the horse's side nudging him into a trot near the knight.

"I believe I used to when I was younger. I used to play with the prince. He was so kind to me. But unfortunately, I was sent away. But my time as a knight taught me that I was 1 amongst 1,000. By this I mean, the prince probably won't remember one knight out of a thousand others." He ran his hand through his hair. "Man, am I pathetic." He laughed to himself. "Sorry. You probably don't want to hear me ramble. Also, did you know that you can have pictures of anyone? But when I asked for a picture of my....the prince they said it's a crime. Can you believe that?! With all the pictures they have of him on stuff I can't have my own. Plus when I try writing to him I never get a response. Maybe he has forgotten about me." Tachibana looked down at the reins. He then immediately looked up. "Again, so sorry. I just miss my...my best friend. My only friend."

There were many children in and out of the palace. Tachi was the only one Aoyama bothered to remember. With that thought in mind, the man before him did not remind him off his childhood friend.

"...I am the Prince..a--" why don't you recognize me? Perhaps his disguise was working after all and that blend in comment was just a snide comment.

His voice fell silent as he analyzed the knight one more time. Listening to him talk he smiled as he went on a rant about having his picture. Aoyama didn't think he was all that special. Unfortunately, his face was plastered all over as if he was a product to be bought.

"Your story fits...but I doubt my father would go to such lengths to keep me from reading your letters." Aoyama began, his statement drenched with skepticism. "If you are really my best friend, then tell me, did I break my hand or my arm?"

Aoyama liked to invent games for the two to play. They were playing the coveted truth or dare and jokingly Tachibana dared the prince to climb one of the trees in the courtyard. Clumsily he the prince tried to climb the thing but when he couldn't he kicked the tree in frustration and broke his toe.

The real Tachibana would see right through his trick question.

Tachibana thought about this and laughed. "The fact that I didn't notice you. It was neither. Unless you broke it while I was away. You broke your toe on a dare. And I was scolded for that. You probably don't know this but they made me crossdress. That was embarrassing." He blushed lightly while looking away. "Anyway, I guess I've been gone so long I forgot what you look like. And before you say anything, no they don't have any pictures of you overseas. And about the letters. It was actually the general. He had a complete obsession with you so whenever I tried to write to you, he would read it and punish me for being your friend. Thank goodness that after that incident I just wrote to my mother." He said sheepishly. "Apologies, my prince but we really need to get you some different clothing. It's fact that you're wearing your crest. If I was a normal commoner I would've thought that your nobility. And nobles are targeted constantly. I can't imagine what they'd do to you."

"I'm glad you weren't an imposter." the prince spoke with a sigh of relief.

Well it has been a while... They were a long ways off from the prepubescent children back then. Tachibana looked like a hardened soldier now and Aoyama a spoiled brat with his baggy clothes, unkempt hair, and ridiculous attempt at leaving the palace grounds. "I'm sorry you got in trouble for that." thank goodness he didn't know about the cross-dressing. He probably would have gotten the knight into so much trouble because of the temper tantrum he would have threw. Hearing that Tachi was in trouble for being his friend made his heart quake with frustration. Was there always a price for being near him? He knew just of the general the white haired male spoke of. "Oh, so it was that slimey bastard....huh..." there was a mischievous grin curving his sensual lips as he pulled his hair back. With a band upon his wrists he wrapped his hair into a sloppy bun. "For sure I had thought my father was the culprit. Well, that makes payback all too easy now." with that said he started towards the town. "I didn't think there would be pictures of me overseas Tachi... I might be a klutz but I'm not an idiot.." not entirely anyway. "Now, quickly show me where to get new clothes so I can explore the town. I don't have much time before the king finds out I'm missing."

"Ok, Aoyama. Follow me." Tachibana said as his horse went a bit faster. "There's a clothing shop right ahead. We'll find you something there." They soon arrived. Tachibana came to a halt and got off his horse. "Allow me to help you." He said as he helped him down. He then lead him in. "If you need my help just ask me. I'll be right outside the dressing room." He said smiling. "I promise not to peek." He joked. It was an embarrassing joke. He wanted to die. Talk about gay panic.

Aoyama followed Tachibana on his own horse. The town was a lot bigger than he imagined... Cleaner as well. He'd heard rumors that only savages lived outside of the palace walls and that they had to go through rigorous trainging before allowed to live in it. The brunette smiled as Tachibana moved to help him down as if he were some kind of girl. "Y'now Tachi I am still a boy that hasn't changed..." he commented briefly as he was led into the clothing store. He grabbed some random items and promptly moved to the dressing room laughing at the other's remark. "If you peek you'll be just as bad as that perverted general Maul..." he laughed.

It didn't take him long to disrobe as he honestly wasn't wearing anything underneath. His body was pristine in nature. He looked silky smooth to the touch, like porcelain. The only stain upon his skin was the large family crest tatooed onto his back when he reached puberty. His father had the same done to him as well. It was to ensure that no imposters inherited the throne. If there was no heir the lineage would crumble and a new empire would take over. It didn't take long for the Prince to dress. He chose a variation of what he had on already just in a different color: blue hooded cloak with black pants a closer fit to him. Returning to Tachibana he smiled. "So, do I look normal now?"

Tachibana examined him. "Hmm... You do know that you don't have to wear a cloak." He told him. He then went over to a section of the shop and came back with some "commoners clothing". " Here. Try this. It should be better. And for your hair, we can put it into a bun. I think I have yarn or a ribbon in my sack. I'll help you if you need it. Um, d-do I have p-permission to help you?" He asked blushing lightly.

"Cloaks are easy to take off." he responded in a lazy manner. Without much resistance he accepted the clothing. "Well come one then Tachi let's hurry up." he breathed in an exasperated manner as he pulled the other into the dressing room. "You're fawning over me like my maids or my mother. It's okay if I look a little disheveled." Aoyama went onto say as he undressed quickly. He put the new pants first so that Tachibana could do his hair. Turning his back towards the other... "Yes, you have permission to do my hair... You are my friend not a servant...right?" he asked.

"That is true but it's kind of a force of habit. I don't like to touch people without permission." Tachi said as he put Aoyama's hair up and tied it with ribbon. "There. That should do it. If you need anything else just let me know. I'll go back to standing out there. He said as he backed away. Unfortunately, after meeting his best friend after a long time some feelings have arisen. Because he doesn't want to make Aoyama uncomfortable, he tries to do the bare minimum. But it's starting to drive him crazy. Anyway, he probably doesn't even go that way. 'Ay, Tachibana. You can't feel this way. It's inappropriate.'

"Tachi doesn't have to ask for permission to touch me." Aoyama spoke as the other dipped out of the dressing room like a scared kitten. He finished dressing and followed behind shortly after. "Well now that I'm dressed appropriately let's pay and go see some stuff." Aoyama declared as he sauntered over to the owner of the shop owner. "I'll pay you later Tachibana since you won't let me pay now." he commented as he pat his the blade on his waist. "You have a favorite place you like to go to?"

"Oh. Well, I just came back from visiting my mother. But there is a pub that sells some amazing food." Tachi said as he paid for the clothing. "Ironically, it's right next door. We can go there if you'd like. And then after that, we could hang out by the cherry tree like when we were kids. If that sounds good to you. And maybe a sparring match. I kind of want to see how you improved while I was away and show you how much I improved." He said rubbing the back of his head, sheepishly, while holding Aoyama's previous disguise in his other hand.

"Haha spar on a full stomach you must be kidding." the prince commented patting his stomach dramatically. "I have to warn you, I've become a lot better than before." he boasted. It had been quite some time since he'd sparred with someone with talent. Father always sent him mooks afraid he was going to be hurt or whatever. He always ended up winning and that was never any fun. "Don't take it easy on me Tachi. I want to train like how we used to." he said as he looked toward the exit. "Once we work up a good sweat then we can eat." starting towards the door. "I guess we can toss those clothes or whatever... No sense bringing it along." he added nonchalantly as he sauntered towards the exit. Once outside he hoisted himself onto his horse waiting to follow Tachibana. He was ashamed to say he didn't quite remember the way to their sparring place. When the knight was close, "How is your mother?"

"Ok. I'll throw it away. Also, she's doing very well. She sends me care packages sometimes. Of course, there checked, but she always manages to sneak a little something in there for me. She's amazing. She wrote once that she sometimes tries to send you things to make sure you're ok." He said as he tossed them into the garbage bin. He then got on top of his horse. He wondered why Aoyama didn't ride ahead of him. Then he got an idea as to why. The shy boy decided to use this to tease the prince. "Aoyama, why don't you lead ahead. I'll follow behind. It would make me very happy to see where it is because I forgot how to get there." Tachi said in an embarrassed tone to cover up the teasing.

"Then I should send her something in return..."he said rather surprised that he was being sent things but never received any of it. It was quite disheartening that he was left in the dark about so many things going on around him.

"I..." that damned Tachi... He thought as he looked over the other with a blank stare. He could never tell if he was teasing or being absent minded. "Sure...I remember where it is..." he bluffed as his feet nudged his horse into a light trot. After about 30 feet he sighed loudly. "I don't remember Tachi...you know I have no sense of direction." literally he gets lost in the palace if he isn't paying attention to where he's going. "I know you know where it is." Aoyama added as he shot eyes narrowed in suspicion the knight's way.

Tachibana smiled widely. "Of course I remember. Haha, it's so fun seeing flustered. Plus you kind of deserve it for teasing me so much." He got in front of him. "Come on, stay close behind me. And try not to get distracted." He turned around and gave his signature innocent closed eye smile. After leading him to the cherry tree he hopped off. "Come on, Aoyama. I have a sword you can borrow. And don't you dare sell your dagger. This may be coming from the knight part of me but it is too good a weapon." He then proceeded to help him down. "And the friend part of me knows it holds so much history."

Of course he was just making fun of him.... Why wouldn't he be? He was always good at pulling his leg and the only person he let play with him like that. Perhaps, he was strict like his father in that way but, anyone else he would have surely punished them personally.

Aoyama followed behind, the memories of their meeting place drifting back to him. They were young...but, their parents trusted them to travel with the guard unharmed. Those were simpler times he'd hoped to go back to. If only he could convince his father of the same.

Once they reached the area he smiled as the other said he had a blade for him. Thank goodness....he was good at wielding his own but, dammit he was still clumsy with it.

"But the hi-hi-hi-hi-hiiiiilt...." he whined when Tachibana told him not to sell it. "If you like it so much I think you should have it. It really serves me no purpose I'm still clumsy and awkward with it. And if I manage to kill someone with it, it'll only slip out of my hands." he said with a shrug as he slipped off his horse with the other's help.

The blade did hold much history. It had been passed down his family tree for generations. His father once wielded it, his grandfather, and so on and so forth. He suppose they only carried it as decoration but because it was light enough for him to wield he chose it as his main weapon without considering the hilt.

"Alright, I'm ready Tachi... Don't take it easy on me I have been practicing."

Tachibana smiled at the thought. “It’s better to save it for your future bride.” He said in a bitter sweet tone. He then unsheathed his sword and handed it to Aoyama. After giving him the sword he took out another one and stepped back a bit. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He then opened his eyes and got into his stance. “Ready? Because I don’t plan on holding back.”
