Who Am I?
Hello there and nice to meet you! My username is Seraph_Azriel, I answer to Seraph, Azriel, or just Az. Respectful nicknames are fine too. Much like yourself, I’m here at Fiction Depot to write stories for fun. Heck, maybe even make a few friends along the way! Just please respect that I’m currently in a loving relationship with my girlfriend and am not really interested in flirting online. I’m a hecking nerd and really enjoy science fiction, fantasy, adventure, and even a little slice of life now and then. I hope you’ll give me a chance so we can write some fun stories together!
Capabilities & Expectations
My writing level is somewhere in the grey area between semi-literate to literate. Generally I try to give as good as my partner gives me. Posts with lots of details and things to play off of will get lots in return. Though I do enjoy good grammar and spelling, we’re not all word checkers here. I’m not about to lose my shit over occasional misspellings or funny phrases as long as I can understand what you were trying to get at. It’s more important to me that you can convey what you’re trying to say. Good prose is a bonus, as far as I’m concerned. I like to roleplay as a way to keep my writing muscles sharp but also as a way to try and improve my storytelling skills. I feel more accomplished and vested in the story when it feels like I’m actively improving my imagination and writing skills.
We’re all adults here and we’re present on Blue Moon to roleplay for fun. Emphasis on the fun part. If things are getting a little boring or bogged in tedium, by all means hit me up so we can get back to the having fun part. I respect the right to my partner’s privacy here on the internet. You don’t owe me anything, not an explanation for a disappearance or to explain posting in another forum. Interest can be hard to keep up, especially in these strangely frantic times. If you need to drop the roleplay and don’t want to say anything, that’s perfectly alright by me. Likewise, I hope you’ll respect my privacy as well. Sometimes I lose the muse or have things happen IRL and might not be able or willing to get back to things for a while. If I can, I will let you know if I’ve lost interest.
Do’s And Don’ts
Just some quick pointers on how to get me jazzed up for a roleplay or to quickly sour me on the experience. Some of the points above are reiterated here for emphasis. Here you can find the kink version of my Do's and Don'ts.
Do give me more story over smut. If I had to liken roleplaying to a meal, then story would be the meat. It’s the main course and mainly what I came here for. The smut is the spice to give the story that nice bit of flavor to make it mouthwatering. I will have a few more smut oriented storylines for fun, but the bulk of my capabilities and interest is vested in the storytelling, worldbuilding, and character development
Don’t Godmod. Nothing kills narrative tension faster than a character that can do anything perfectly. Especially in stories predicated upon conflict. I do have a great appreciation for competent characters, but everyone eventually screws up or is outdone eventually. Let the characters get physically beaten down or outsmarted or be surprised or scared at something they don’t know.
Do Worldbuild with me. A story is like a sandbox. We’re gonna have more fun here if we build things together. I can do worldbuilding and lore all on my own but it sucks motivation and excitement right out of me if I’m doing it all myself. At that point the question ‘why don’t I just write this as it’s own story?’ arises. Please be a partner and not a dependent.
Don’t give me short line replies. If you really wanna kill my interest, give me monosyllabic or sentence replies. I’ll drop the roleplay faster than a hot potato. Please, if you want to keep me interested you gotta try a little bit.
Do Help me make a character. What I mean here is help me make a character that fits into the world or setting we’ll be playing in. Characters are microcosms of the cultures and societies that they interact with and can have wildly varying expectations. Good worldbuilding can result in memorable, fascinating characters and I very much want to give you a fun person to play with.
Don’t control my character. Now there’s a fine distinction to be made here. Things happening to my character is one thing. Controlling my character as part of a story beat (ala mind control or hypnosis) that’s been discussed beforehand is perfectly fine. But suddenly making my character do what you want them to do will result in me dropping the roleplay.
Do contact me. Hit me up in the PMs if you wanna give me a shot! I’m down for roleplaying in messages, on the forum, or Discord. Though I tend to be a bit wary of the last, I’ve not always had the best experiences on it.
Don't hit with 'Hey' or 'Wanna roleplay' in PMs. First impressions are everything. I don't know you so this is your perfect chance. Use that big dick energy and hit me with massive paragraphs of the story ideas you have or the ones I have that you like. The more detail you put down and suggestions you throw out the more willing I am to work with and accommodate you. Nothing dries up my excitement like seeing a sentence or three or just linking me your request thread. I put in the effort I get, you gimme lots of energy and I'll throw it right back at ya!
Do ask me if I'm currently accepting roleplays! I try to keep my request thread as up to date as I can, but sometimes things can get busy at work and I'm not always able to edit my thread in a timely manner. So don't be shy asking if I'm open or not, the worst that'll happen is a No, promise!
Stories
I enjoy a wide range of subject matter. The exact genre isn’t always important insofar as a good story is being told. A good tale can make me venture into genres that I don’t always dip my foot into, so even if I don’t seem to mention a similar idea, pitch it to me anyways! I’m a pretty open-minded fella. All that said, there are some genres, tropes, and conventions that do draw me in time and time again. Generally I prefer long term stories over short term. That’s not to say that a good pitch for a short story won’t sway me, I just don’t want the fun to end any time soon.
Genres
Canon settings or original ones are fine by me. I’ve read a lot of books, and watched a lot of anime and tv shows in my time. I’m generally open to either/or although I do like making original worlds with partners. Something about the creative freedom of making what I want and seeing what my partner does to compound, confuse, or enhance what I make is utterly titillating. Canon settings can be a nice refresher at times with basic ground rules that everyone knows and understands. There is quite some delight to be had in filling in blanks that the original creators might have overlooked or not delved too deeply into. As ever, I don’t mind changing details about canon settings if it means making things a bit more fun for both of us. If you don’t see a setting here that you want to try, feel free to ask me about it!
An Assorted Sampling Of Special Settings
Probably my favorite part of the roleplay. Making a person that fits in the story we’re telling. I generally play male characters. I can play female characters but I’m very picky about who I’ll play my girls with. Generally I don’t reuse my characters. If they were made for a particular setting then that’s where they’ll live. Though if I do particularly jive with a character I’ll sometimes pluck them out of the world they were born into to place them into similar stories (though they may not be the same as they were). I like to play a few different types. I can play shy, uncertain characters that are competent but don’t have the confidence in themselves. I can play walking human disasters that are able to function just enough to fake it through life. I can play cold, seemingly emotionless bastards that do care deep inside. I can play sweet and simple himbos that just want to have a good time. Or just the plain, average everyman that gets caught up in a whirlwind of a clusterfuck.
Now my lads can only be as good as the character cast opposite them. I like characters with personality, memorable traits that can compliment or oppose my characters. Sometimes it’s a grand ol’ time watching a cute, shy couple naturally come together. Sometimes it’s fun to watch that human robot to shut the fuck up and kiss her already. Or a character that combines a bit of both for those sweet moments with the savory drama. I’m indifferent as to what kind of faceclaim is used insofar as it conveys what kind of character that they are.
Plots
Although my imagination loves to run to the specifics, I like to keep a set of general plots to help jog any potential partner’s creative juices. By all means if an idea is in your mind, share it with me! Or take the basic ideas I jot down and run with them! Go wild and crazy and make something interesting to toss my way. I’ll hear most any plotline.
Altar Diplomacy
A once great dynasty has been shattered in the wake of a decades long succession crisis. It has cost countless lives and butchered most of the primary candidates for the Throne. Smaller nations that once claimed independence have been swallowed by the greater powers. Only five disparate noble houses are left, all bearing bitter wounds struck by the others. In a bid to bring a decisive end to the conflict in their favor, Muse A’s father has made a treaty of peace and unification with their neighboring opponent (the family of Muse B). Between various payments, settling of border disputes, and other matters of integration, the masterstroke will be the marriage of the Crown Prince and Crown princess of the two families to mingle the bloodlines back into one. Between their personal animosity for one another, that of their respective clans, and third parties that would profit more from peace failing, does such a political marriage even have a hope of bringing an end to the war?
Slay The Beast
Maybe a pack of them slaughtered Muse A’s village. Or killed their parents and left them for dead. The circumstances vary but the end result is the same. They are oathsworn and personally motivated to destroy all foul beasts that prey upon the innocent. Muse B is one of those fell creatures of the night. A demon, vampire, werewolf, or something more exotic. Through seduction and corruption, or even perhaps through a surprisingly gentle spirit the Beast enlivens the wooden heart of the Hunter, only for the pair to realize that this might not be a world that can understand their love or want it to exist.
Interspecies Romance
Muses A & B are members of different races that have been set up on a blind date. Although there’s a bit of awkwardness due to culture shock, there’s a genuine attraction. Together the two work through their differing cultural values to come to an understanding of one another and share some of the realities of what dating someone else from such a different kind of place is like. A deconstruction of the usual interspecies romance story if you will.
The Foundling
Muses A is a relatively regular person living in a modern day setting. One evening after a bit of light partying they find themselves in short order accosted, attacked, murdered, and brought back to life (of a sort). They've been turned into a vampire. After struggling with their condition for a day or two they are eventually found by the undead community and brought before a shadowy assemblage of elders along with other confused, newly-turned neonates. Concerned about the growing number of unauthorized Embraces, the council deems the execution of these foundlings necessary to preserve their presence's secrecy. When Muse B, a respected member of the community comes forth to vouch on behalf of Muse A. Perhaps they were friends long ago, or recent acquaintances. The council hears and grants this request, discharging the neonate into the care of the ancillae. Muse A is then inculcated into a world of blood, decadence, power struggles, and darkness.
Unholy Matrimony (WIP)
Muse A is the child of a nobleman of great peerage. An acerbic, wild, and controversial fellow on whom opinions are sharply divided. The 'Mad' Prince they call him. Foes claim him to be a purveyor of unhale forces, sorcery, diabolism, and other dark arts. His allies see him as the young war hero whose accolades and deeds saved the heartland of the Empire when other men and women of peerage caddishly clung their men-at-arms to their breasts like babes frightened of milkmaid's tales. Alas but that time has found that reckless youth hath now laid him low. Lover's Pox struck him in his twilight years and he lays dying. Through his internecine rambling, ravings, and occasional moment of clarity has his beloved, wondrous child been close to his side.
