Kai Alitair had long brown hair, well, not too long, it only went down to his neck, but long enough that you could mistake him for a girl if you were too far away. A mistake you'd feel rather silly about after getting closer. He was built like an athlete who worked out daily, strong arms, a six pack beneath a leather jacket and brown tunic, matching brown pants covering his legs, and brown eyes the most striking feature of his face. It might seem rather dull, but it made quite effective camouflage more often than not, and while not armor, the leather jacket did offer some protection. The man looked around, noticing that he was no longer on the path, and after deciding on a direction, began heading that way.
Kai had been in a small town for about two months now, staying up in a room in the inn. A private room, he'd recently come into enough money to be able to afford such simple luxaries, he'd been exploring, and come upon an honest to god treasure trove. It was the type of thing men like him dreamed of, and he'd quite enjoyed his stay. It was a nice room, with a bed big enough for two, though he was alone throughout his stay. Slowly, he grew bored, even with all the things money could buy, he wanted to go exploring again. There was a forest nearby, part of it was mapped, most of it wasn't. He'd been offered good pay for a reliable map of more, and though he didn't need it yet, it seemed like just the thing.
Rumors of the forest of course, were many, as they always were. If you listened to the tales of drunkards, everything from witches to Dragons haunted the place. Kai doubted anything truly evil was inside, but part of him hopped something would be, something he could tell tales of. He brought his sword with him, he was no great duelist, but he could use it to protect himself, as well as about a weeks worth of food, a sleeping bag, and a cantine, though he'd need to fill it after a few days. With that, he started off into the forest.
He traveled for hours in the known parts, bored out of his mind, encountering nothing but a few racoons. He got out his parchment and ink, knowing that he would soon be entering "the great unknown" not that he expected that to be any more interesting. No reason not to keep his hope up though. Few men encountered even one source of treasure like he did, maybe he'd be really lucky and find more.
