Request thread gendering.

In my past, as incredibly backwards as it is, I've had potential partners deny my ideas based purely on the fact I am a man offering to play a female. I know, weird but that seems to matter to some people. Personally I do NOT like hiding my gender, as if it does bother you wouldn't want to role play with you any way but also to a degree I do respect that some people don't even want to play with a male playing a female. Any way, my question is so:

Do I as a male have to post a request to play a female in the male board. Or, for example, is the male and female request thread for the character gender you intend to play?

For what it is worth, some of my most enjoyable role play games were with guys playing ladies.
