The shadow didn't know when it first started thinking or remembering. The first memories are hazy, and it can only remember a feeling of intense hatred, anger, fear, and acceptance. The first centuries of the shadow's life were spent flitting from shadow to shadow eking out an existence on the residual emotions of animals and sentients that entered his forest. He grew slowly learning his abilities to hide in other shadows and being able to ride in another sentient's shadow. The refinement and discovery of these skills allowed the shadow creature to feed more boldly on the emotional energies of the creatures around it, but it still retreated to the dark primordial forests and jungles where it could hide in the dense shadows.
The shadow continued to learn how to alter and condense its shape eventually taking on tangible forms. The first shapes it mimicked were those of the deer, monkeys, and wolves. It learned all of the shapes of the forest and jungle, yet the creature could never fully master its mimicry. The shapes it took were all composed of black and white. Still, the shadow enjoyed the freedom to move about as it pleased. It was no longer reliant on the passing shadow of a deer or rabbit.
The shadow grew bolder with its skillful shapeshifting and began visiting the farms and villages that bordered the forest. Here it began feasting on the fears of the superstitious farmers who mistook the shadow for the dark god of the forest. It enjoyed the superstition and worship growing more powerful from it, but the shadow hungered for more. It toyed with playing a wrathful god or benevolent as the mood struck it, but it was never satisfied with the results. It began experimenting and honing its abilities to take a humanoid form eventually learning how to speak. Now, the shadow possessed even the skill to slip into villages and interact with them when the nights were there darkest.
Still, the creature hungered for more. It roved the forest and meadows, the borders of the forest and farmlands, and the humble villages that bordered his forest. It could find nothing that satisfied its hunger for something new. It was about to give up in despair when it heard the first pleasant moans of pleasure echoing through the woods, and it spiked the creature's curiosity. It silently slithered over in the form of a mouse as a rich spicy aroma filled the air. The noise became louder with deeper groans added to the mix, and the shadow was enticed further. It crept closer eventually seeing a man and woman locked in a passionate embrace with one another. The creature gorged itself on the emotional energy of the two as their passion and pleasure created a powerful narcotic for the shadow creature. It left the couple alone to finish as it mulled over the answers it had received.
The chance encounter with the couple had finally answered the question that had been plaguing the creature since its conception. What could satisfy its hunger? The answer was the passion and lust it fed off of. The long-burning question had been answered, but a slew of new ones rose up. They all demanded answers from the shadow. It set about with a plan to satiate its hunger and began an adventure to the town bordering his forest.

The streets were dark and dingy, just the way the shadow liked it. The shadow had taken the form of a mangy dog, with streaks of white across its chest, as it roved the streets of the town. It had spent weeks combing through the urban center looking for the right woman to take before he settled on one who only made weekly trips to the grocers. It was the perfect opportunity. The shadow continued to tail her back to her house which at first glance seemed rundown and in need of repair. The shadow ran up to the woman as she reached her front door and barked to get her attention. The creature sat on its haunches, cocked its midnight-black head at her.
Its eyes gleamed in the bright moonlight as its tail thumped back and forth on the dirt street. The woman would be perfect since she was isolated from the rest. He could taste the sour melancholic taste of sadness and despair around her. The shadow would take her as his own and claim her. He would bathe her in passion and pleasure transforming her into an adherent of the shadow.
The shadow was intently studying the curves of the woman, and its excitement was growing seeing them in all the right places. It felt an urge to take her right there, but it held off knowing it would be better to take her inside of the house. Still, it took the time to imagine her legs spread for it. Her body convulsing in pleasure and the woman covered in the black sticky cum. These thoughts were making it salivate as it licked its chops while continuing to look up at the woman. It waited to see what she would do while its tail eagerly thumped the ground.
