Cassandra had never seen anything quite like this island. It had been ignored for centuries, but at one time, it apparently had been connected to the mainland. It was dotted with ruins and old, crumbling architecture, slowly being consumed by the jungle that covered the island. She had arrived a week ago, part of the small expedition to map the island and all of the archaological sites that covered it.
She and her partner had found the motherlode this time: a huge temple, almost intact, was in the area that they were surveying. They had spent the entire morning studying the outside, and were just now getting to the inside of the temple, the great hall and the impressive altarpiece, covered with gold offerings.
She was an average-looking woman, mildly attractive and with a slender body, never having much time to relax since she was always traveling from one site to another. Her hair was pulled back into a ponytail, keeping her black locks out of her vision.
