Welcome to the party. So, you're one of the lucky ones who got an invitation to the Rise. I'm sure there was a reason, but right now I'm not sure anybody cares about that. Everyone's just so happy to not be outside, in that...well you know.
I hope you found your accommodations comfortable. The rise is the tallest building in the world, stretching from that hell below to the storms above. Seems like whoever built it was planning on this nonsense. It has everything a person needs to ride out this craziness in comfort, no matter how long it lasts. Let's just hope that craziness doesn't get in here, right?
Well, enough jabbering on my part. Grab yourself a drink, mingle, and don't be a stranger.

The band played a soft tune, just loud enough to drown out the sound of the storm that the thick panes of glass didn't stop. There was nervous chatter amongst the guests, but each was trying their best to give an air of calm. After all, they were the lucky ones. They were the ones at the party to celebrate the end of the world. Many of them pretended like they deserved to be here, but no one truly knew why they were; And none dared to look at what was happening beyond the glass, pretending that it wasn't.

"Your drink, sir." The bartender laid a cocktail napkin down before setting the glass upon it.
The man at the bar nodded a thank you and gave a crooked smile as the bartender walked away. He lifted the glass and said a quiet toast, "To the end of the world." His eyes sparkled a pale blue, as if he knew a secret that no one else did. He looked at home in the tailored tuxedo, his athletic physique filling it nicely. His hair was a sandy blonde and cropped short, and he had shaved for the evening festivities.
He looked like the other guests except, unlike them, he hadn't been invited.
