Kelly was had been running all over the diner all morning, now it was lunch time and it hadn't gotten any better. It was July, not long after the 4th of July holiday and everyone was in town on Vacation. This was Rock Cove busiest time of the year, as all the festivals and everything else were on tap for that month. This weekend was the Crab Festival, which always brought in tons of crowds to Rock Cove especially with it being one of the things they were known for. The crab around here were as fresh as they come, sometimes being served from a catch just that morning. There were contests, and games, and stuff to buy and whatever else someone can think up to do to make money on a weekend like this. Fireworks in the evening all weekend, and great food no matter where you went. To some it might get annoying being busy all day, but for Kelly she was thankful for it. It kept her busy and her mind quiet doing busy things like serving people, and cleaning tables. She cherished the summer time here, as there was rarely a time she was alone to sit with her thoughts.

She had just grabbed another order, and she rushed it to be placed before she took another one. Dressed in a pair of jeans and a white summer top that tied at the shoulders, over it was a blue apron with the diners name "Crabby's Diner" on it in white letters. There were a pair of white sandals on her feet, and she had her hair tied back and a pair of dangly silver earrings hanging from her ears. She had a little bit of make up on, nothing to fancy she wasn't really looking to attract anyone. And light blue nail polish on her fingernails and toes. There would be a noticeable tan line on her ring finger, as she just recently had taken off her wedding rings. Though she does have a silver chain on her neck which they are on as she just can't quite be away from them yet. Little steps were better then none.

Having dropped off her last order, she rushes over to the next table with pen and pad in hand, looking up with a smile which barely met her eyes she looked at the person sitting there. "Welcome to Crabby's, can I get you something to drink?" The menu's were at the table, so she didn't have to hand them any.

The last table she needed to get an order from was the booth at the far end of the restaurant, where only one person sat in it, facing away from everyone else. From a distance, it was easy to spot out his platinum blonde, and up close, Kelly would see he was dressed in a grey waistcoat, with black tie and a white button up shirt; both sleeves wrapped up to his elbows. He was looking through the menu while also checking through his phone for messages, when he turned to face Kelly as she spoke up. "Yes, I was hoping for coffee with a little bit of sugar and cream mixed in." He looked to be around her age, perhaps a few years younger, and wore thin ray-ban glasses. "I was also curious about if you sold Crabby Patties, because I can't see anything listed in this, and I feel like that would be a wasted opportunity if this place didn't have any type of burger named that." He smiled to her when he finished, a cheeky look in his eyes. He also couldn't help but admire her features as he spoke. She had a very lovely face, with the minimal makeup showing she was a natural beauty. And when checking her fingers, he noticed the faint tone of skin around her ring finger that wasn't as tanned as the rest of her arms. He could make assumptions about the why, but he took it as a sign.

See how far he could go with her.

Now Kelly was for the most part a nice girl, she was always very polite and especially to customers always made sure to give them a smile. And that was what she really wanted to be upon standing in front of this attractive man, who was obviously not from around here. Yet it had been a very long day already working as a waitress, the job in itself was tough especially on busy days like this. And going on the fact that she was working a double shift because someone of course had called out, which really she didn't mind at all. But these customers, the out of towners that come in and think they are all entertaining and smart. Like she hasn't heard the very insulting backwoods main accent done a million times, it isn't funny but yet she has to keep smiling. And now this guy, if she heard a Sponge Bob reference just one more time she might not be able to help what she might do to the next customer who says it. The diner is way older then Sponge Bob, yet people still have to always make the reference.

"Sure, how about a bring you a cup of coffee and some creamer and you can use the sugar on the table to make it how ever you like." She was tired, and she tried not to let her voice sound strained but she knew it must have at least a little bit. She had to be happy at least he didn't ask for a Venti Cappuccino or something of the like. They were a diner for god sake, not a Starbucks make it your way place.

Then he let out the reference, and it wouldn't be hard to see her jaw pull tight and a little roll of her eyes as she sighs. Why, why do they the fates do this to her? Licking her lips a moment, trying to get her bearings back. She taps on her pad with the pen "Really? That was so original, you have officially won the prize for the more original Sponge Bob reference that has ever been said in this diner. Hooray for you." She said extremely dryly, her eyes looking up to glare at the guy. Apparently she had just about enough with this day, and had no fucks left to give.

"Why thank you, I didn't know such an award existed." He retorted, chuckling, as he didn't seem bothered by her remark, still smiling as though he found it funny he made her break, unintentionally of course. "Tough day?" He asked after he stopped chuckling, pushing his glasses back to his bridge. If she didn't have makeup on, he could probably make out the lumps under her eyes from a restless night. The tone of her voice, the passive aggressive remarks, a working woman was having a tough day, and with that ring finger mark, he had a chessboard playing out in his mind. See which pieces were in play, and how to go about it. She seemed like a woman who needed a good night on the town, away from the repetition of daily life, and the annoyance of tourists who, outside the Spongebob references, were very likely rude, stubborn, and easily aggressive to her if she made even the slightest mistake. Ben though was calm, friendly looking, and had a charm to him. He was the best thing she saw all day, he thought to himself... Because of course he's thinking that.

Kelly was ready for it, the yelling and whatever about how rude she was being to this man who she was sure was pretentious as hell and had an attitude to go with it. But in the end he didn't, he just kept at it with her even laughing at her answer. It wasn't like she was worried about being fired, the owner knew if someone got Kelly to the point of being rude or blowing her top at someone they probably deserved it anyways. Plus the fact that she was doing him a favor by working there, and not the other way around. So the whole thing just struck her strangely, and she ended up doing something she might not normally do as if they were yelling at her she would have just walked away from the situation.

"I'm sorry, that was rude of me I shouldn't have said that." She said to the man in front of her apologizing, she gave a half smile as he mentioned it being a 'Tough Day'. "Just a busy one, I was expecting to be out of here by now. But again there is no reason I should have taken it out on you..." She said with a shrug, relieved she wasn't dealing with an asshole which also made her look at him a little more. He was an attractive man, not that she really noticed that much now a days. She knew it was hitting the point that she should be dating, moving on as she was still young. But the men normally around here never sparked much in her even before she was married, and most of the tourist well she didn't really bother to see any of them. In her own way she was still walking around in a fog, not really letting much else in. At least until now.

"Is there anything else I can get for you other then the coffee? Or are you still looking? I can give you some time if you like." She knew this is where she could probably flirt with him, even if he had no interest in her it at least might get her a better tip. But she wasn't even sure if she could even remember how to flirt. It has been so long, and she never thought she would ever have to think about attracting a man again.

"I won't take offense to it, we all have those days." He said, waving his hand to it. Closing the menu, he handed it back to Kelly, and placed both his hands together to lean his chin on, all while looking up at her and admiring her her. She would certainly notice that he had that look of interest in his eyes, seeing her as a natural beauty, but not so much it felt off. Rather, a friendly man who see's a charming young woman, and wished to be friendly to her. He had such a calming demeanor that you would feel calmer just looking back at him. Maybe it was the eyes, or the soft smile, but the blonde looked like a drastic change to the others in the diner. "Just the coffee and some eggs, with a little bacon on the side, please." He told her.

Kelly's eye lowered to her pad, as she seen how he looked at her admiring her. Again something she wasn't used to paying attention to at all, her cheeks also blushed a little bit. "Thanks..." She mumbled, as she tried to keep herself getting to girly from the attention from this man.

As he ordered she would write down what he wanted, and she would let her eyes rise up to meet his again with a smile "I will get your order put in." There was a little more in that smile this time, something that wasn't normal to her now a says. It shown in her eyes a bit more, which some around that knew her might have noticed as she walked away from the blond man to enter in his order.

"Thank you." He told her, nodding in approval. He of course noticed her blush, and couldn't help but smile a little more once she left. Such a gorgeous woman. Thank god he was going to stay in town for a while. He wouldn't mind meeting up with her again. He mind though returned to reality, as he phone buzzed on the table top. Checking it, he saw a text message.

Tomorrow. 8:00 PM

His friendly demeanor turned stern and emotionless, though still calm. He texted back quickly, 'That's too early.'

Wouldn't budge. Since there's a festival this week, most of the police will be guarding it. No cops to suddenly show up, unless someone talked.

'Did someone?'

There wasn't an answer for a few seconds, only the little three dots that bounced as someone wrote. Possibly

Ben rolled his eyes and stared out the window, flipping his phone around to lightly tap it against the table. Of course someone talked. Deal of a lifetime, and these guys had a mole in their operation. 'Call it off.'

We bail now, we lose a guaranteed payday.

'And I can't recoup it quickly, because?...'

Just let me talk to them some more. See if I can't move the time around. It'll be easier and quicker if we sold it now than later.

"Sure." Ben muttered to himself, putting the phone down. As much as he enjoyed the sights of a small town like this, small time criminal gangs were not exactly the ideal customers he wanted. With the shipment he had in storage, he could find a buyer that would pay much higher, or with items that could fetch a hefty price. Instead, because of a favor to a 'friend' of his, he's now selling them to idiots. Still, once Kelly came back with the coffee and food, he managed to seamlessly put the face back on, like nothing troubled him.

When his plate was finished, and his coffee empty, Ben was writing the check when she came back over once again. "I must say, that was a very good meal." He told her, finishing up. He put the pen back in the leather folder, and handed her the finished check. Inside, she would find he wrote down a tip for her. A $200 tip. "And I thank you for being a very good waitress to me." He said, with a little hint of playful sarcasm in his words for her reaction earlier. He placed is phone in his pocket, grabbed his coat from the other side of the booth, and stood up. He was quite a tall man, around 6'4 in size, and from how close they were, she could see how blue his eyes were behind the glasses. "I'm Ben, by the way." He offered out a hand to her to shake. "I'll be in town a few days, so if I see you around, would I be a bother if I got to know you a little more outside of work?" Since she already found him charming, Ben decided to judge her reaction one last time, see how open she would be to seeing him again. With the festival starting tonight, he'd make sure to keep an eye out, if she said yes.
