The serene forest was normally a place of peace and happiness. When one looked upon it, they could see the beautiful sun kissed leaves and clear waters. It appeared to be a place of peace and harmony, where one would find many lazy evenings. Though, there was a force that guarded it that was rather formidable, as well as very tricky about it's ways. For, it guarded it's forest against the impure, this creature, and it was determined to keep it's home absolutely perfect. Not a single life would be spared, no matter what the reason was for the loss of one's purity, even if it were a mistake. This beast would take down anyone who dared entered that wasn't welcome. It also had many ways of luring the impure in, mostly by taking many forms and confusing them.

When entering the forest, many warn against a young woman or boy, normally pale of skin. This figure usually is stunning and absolutely angelic, and it's long white hair cascades down it's shoulders. It's completely nude, and seems to lack shame for it's beautiful body. It normally spends it's time around the ponds or waters, waiting with a beckoning smile and a soft call to come closer. When one does eventually get closer though, they find themselves impaled upon the horned beast, as it would quickly change forms and attack when it pleased. This, was of course a horrible thing, and so many learned not to trust the forest dweller. Though, that pearl white horned horse would still have many come in it's home despite warnings, and people would still approach the beautiful apparition. So, it never found a time to be bored. However, the beast had no idea that it would soon be the subject of attack.

The unicorn had drank from the water, light blue cream eyes gazing into the pond as it lapped up the clean liquid. This sight would be gorgeous... if it weren't for the fact that this creature wouldn't hesitate for a moment to impale you and drag you about the clean grass, leaving a bright red trail of blood. Little did this monster know though, that this day would be so much more different than the rest. He would learn many things from this experience though, one of which being the true meaning of hate.

  • The forest was beautiful, peaceful; it soothed the soul with itâ??s vibrant colors, the sunlight filtering through the emerald leaves, you just couldnâ??t retain any sense of anger, negative though, as you peered into the green shadows. But even the soothing aura, fiercely protected by itâ??s guardian, had no effect of the rage and malice that rolled off him like waves, even his stride was smooth and swift, brushing past the plants and fauna instead of chopping them away with the sword at his side. Even with his angered state, he couldnâ??t help but notice the soft pedals on some of the flower, cream coloured. His footsteps stop, as he gazes upon the flower, emerald eyes suddenly soft. She had loved those flowersâ?¦ He could remember her face, her sweet smiling face, every time he would come meet her at the castle, riding his pure white horse, waving up at her.

Leonas reached out, his gloved hand caressing the flower head gently, blond hair tied into a low ponytail. And he killed her. Crushing the flower in-between his gauntlets, the knight straightened up, his eyes once again dark. It had supposed to be his wedding gift; an encounter with an unicorn. Only maidens could touch them, so legend went. Laying her down, she gave him a shy smile, before reaching out towards the white horseâ?¦ And a red flower blossomed that day.
A horn jutted out of her chest, as the creature snorted, silver hide stained with crimson blood, his eyes wide open, as she was tossed around, a rag doll, as the horse rearing up to stamp on her to finish the kill. A twang from his bow, the arrow landing harmlessly, but frightening the creature. It had looked at him; looked at him, with those clear eyes. It was mocking him. It had turned around, and trotted off, as if it hadnâ??t murdered someone. Dropping his weapons, Leonas had made his way to his loveâ??s side, her copper hair spotted with blood, her eyes wide with her last glassy look. But... Why? Why did he kill her? WHY!?

A bitter sense of hatred had been sewn, making even the purest things the bitterest of enemies in his eyes. The lord of his castle, his lady, the servants, his fellow knights, pagesâ?¦ They had all rushed out, eagerly expecting the happy coupleâ?¦To be met with a dead lover, and the living seething with malice, tears trailing down his face. A funeral instead of a wedding, anyone could see the distant gaze on his face, as he made his way around the castle, a husk of his former self, a drifting spiritâ?¦Nothing to live for, and no one would let him dieâ?¦

    Revenge.

Something he could live forâ?¦ Slay the horse that took away his love, cut off itâ??s horn and slit the beastâ??s neckâ?¦ He was deranged, killing a mythical, pure creatureâ?¦Was against all rules of being a knight, as his comrades warned him, and his lord took him to the side, warning him of dire consequences of slaying the creature.

Hand on the golden rope (For the Lords above how hard this was to get...), he narrowed his eyes. The knight wasn't about to just... Let this unicorn go. Legends said that wild unicorns could be tamed by young maidens, but it was a stupid idea to get another young lady killed; his fiancee had been murdered without a second glance. From the bushes, it was a good distance away from the mythical creature, and hiding in the bush was most likely as close as he could get without alarming it. Getting ready to throw the noose around the horse's neck, he flicked the rope up, it made a slight whirling nose as it spun. Thank god that the light of the sunlight didn't fall upon the rope... A shimmer of light would have brought the horse's attention towards him. Now. Throwing the lasso with all his might, he watched as the golden rope landed around the horse's neck. Perfect. Throwing his weight onto the other end; Leonas's goal was to bring the creature down, if if this myth held; it wouldn't be able to break free of the lasso.[/list:u]

It seemed as though this creature should've been much more alert than it was now. This laziness in paranoia would certainly cause him much more trouble than he would've originally thought. Normally, when he had let his guard down, the consequence was an arrow that would normally miss, or a horrible attempt at trying to ride him. However, this lasso was an entire surprise. Those pale blue eyes widened, a neigh of protest escaping from the beast's throat. Tugging at it, he had started trotting forward, desperately trying to escape. The unicorn was expecting the rope to snap, or to somehow survive this incident. But... it seemed as though it wasn't coming off. Not only that, but he felt as though he was growing weaker by the moment. This wasn't good... no... not at all.

The galloping had soon ended, as the soft white fur was exchanged for pale flesh. Yes, this transformation was happening against his will, the unicorn's normally tall daunting figure shrinking to the size of a human. The lasso had loosened about his neck for only a moment, but thanks to his insistence in trying to run in the opposite direction, it had tightened around his waist. Realizing his strength was dramatically reduced, the enchanted creature ended up falling to the ground, now stained by the dirt and grass below him. Those long white cascades of hair fell down the young man's shoulders as he had tried to dig his nails into the dirt, trying to pull himself away. He didn't want to give up the struggle, he didn't want to end up being killed by anything.

What had perplexed him the most, was this rope, how it had hindered his attempts at escape. He tried to loosen it, or move it, but it didn't work at all. He even tried clawing at it, but the golden rope remained perfectly intact. His heart was rapidly beating in his chest as he gasped for air, panicking and unaware of what was going to happen to him. The young man would've cried for help, but he knew that no one would save him... After all, he was the one defending the innocent ones, he was the only one. Eventually falling to his knees in exhaustion, he had turned to look over his shoulder, trying to figure out who his attacker was.

Well, it wasn't a good sight in the least... his attacker was the one who had a lover killed by him. Gulping softly, those blue eyes stared at him, waiting for something to happen. He wasn't going to apologize for his actions, though, as he had only done what he was supposed to. A pure woman could tame him, yes, but that woman wasn't even pure! How was this something he should be captured over? The creature only did what he was supposed to do! Just because the knight didn't have a lover who told him the truth, it didn't mean that he should be slaughtered over her lies.

  • Count the blessings of the gods above, he surely didnâ??t expect the unicorn to have itâ??s guard down at the moment, the stories of itâ??s ferocity and defense were remarkable. Of course, it was the defender of the innocent, of all things pure. A corrupt guardian than; he had murdered an innocent soul; his lover. But still, was it that content, so sure that no one would come after it? If not for revenge, Leonas had heard that unicorn horns, hooves, and even a tail hair was valuable. Did it not foresee someone entering itâ??s domain? However, he had witnessed the sheer brutality of the seemingly docile mythical creature. He was not going to let the horse get away.

    Not on his life.

Bracing his feet against the ground, as a force started to pull on it, wrapping his hands around the golden rope, refusing to yield, even as the ropes dug into his skin. If the rumors, legends, myths he had spent weeks reading upon were true, the unicorn wouldnâ??t have been able to break the rope, and would be rendered docile, even just wearing it. A soft voice protested, he was a knight, and he shouldnâ??t be doing this, the image of his love fluttered up, as his eyes narrowed, the wrath quenching the small voice. It was a small game of tug-of-war, a childish game he had watched the pages play, and when he was young, had participated in it as well. His boots sinking into the dirt, the horse dragging him out of the bushes, snapping branches of the shrubbery as the blond male braced himself against the shrubs for them to snap in protest as they gave away.

And before his leaf green eyes, the unicornâ?¦transformed before his eyes. If he hadnâ??t been prepared, he would have dropped the rope in shock, but instead, hands tightened on the golden lasso, velvet pelt melting into smooth skin. He wasnâ??t surprised that he appeared young, youthful, innocent. They said that only a wolf in sheepâ??s clothing could trick the herding dog. The sudden reduce in strength, the power on the other side, made his lips break into a grin of satisfaction. He had won. But still, in his horse form or not, no doubt the devil would have a few more tricks up his sleeve. Though it was hard to believe, he looked so desperate, fingers clawing at the dirt, trying to pull his captured body away. Something that had killed so many, now so desperate. There was somethingâ?¦poetic about it.

But that was to be decided for later, he was getting off track.

Approaching the bound creature, dark green eyes narrowed, snuffed black boots bringing the knight closer towards his prey. His hands inches towards his sword, just one swift stroke. Just one, and the otherâ?? head would roll on the grassy carpet underneath them. Dead. Oh, how tempting it was, but his fists clenched. He was not going to do that. He wanted answers. Why did he kill her? Blue eyes of the other bore into his own, seemingâ?¦fearful. A dark humor seemed to rise up inside him, as he approached the other, one step at a time.

Ignorance was truly a blessing, and humans were wonderful creatures in hiding them. His fiancee, a sweet girl, the average maiden, not a virgin? It was hard to believe, even if the truth slapped him in the face. If he was levelheaded, he would have been able to see why the unicorn had murdered her; but alas, grief and rage blinded the clearest of eyes.

Standing over the other, he knelt, so he was looking at the other eye to eye, normally clear green eyes dark with anger.

Something slicing, his dagger in his right hand, the small blade stained with blood. Leonas had lashed out, slicing at the unicornâ??s right eye, the face making him sick to his stomach. He hated the sudden weakness the other was showing, like it was the victim. He had murdered his love, and it seemed to be begging for release. How could he do such a thing, when he had speared her without a second glance?

    â??Why did you kill her?â?

His voice was cold, but steady, the rage leaking off of him, eyes the colour of leaf mold glaring into pure blue. â??She was innocent.â? How misinformation could lead to such tragic scenarios, games that Fate loved to play.[/list:u]

The mythical creature's fear only heightened when he had seen the knight approach him, a deep hate held in his eyes. Now, the creature in question of course didn't think that any of this should be happening in the first place. The criminal was the girl, not himself. After all, she had deceived the knight and made him think she was a pure virgin! If she hadn't told the lie in the first place, he wouldn't be in any of this trouble at all. The last thing that this beast wanted was people coming to him with their anger, when his only job was to protect this forest from everything impure!

When he had seen the blade being drawn, and felt pain shooting through his body, he flinched back a bit, covering his face. The silver blood had leaked between those pale delicate fingers, his eyes now glancing up at the man who had injured him. "She wasn't innocent!" He cried back, looking quite upset at the fact that he might be killed by some human, especially over something this seemingly trivial. "She wasn't pure, and she approached me! I didn't approach her, she approached me, and you brought her to me!" Wiping some of the blood from his face, he had winced in pain, obviously not enjoying this ordeal. "She's a liar, she lied to you. I knew not about the promise she made to you though... All I knew, was that she approached me, and she was not pure! The same thing happens to every man who comes to me in an attempt to capture me."

Resting his hand in the grass, the eye which had been damaged remained closed for now. He was too weak to heal the wound in this state, unfortunately. "The woman lied to you, simple as that. I don't attack innocent young virgin maidens. Everyone knows this, it is a stone cold fact. I protect women of such a standing, I don't kill them, especially in the manner I killed her!" Growing quite frustrated, he had hoped the knight would believe him, that he wouldn't keep pursuing this lie as a fact. "If I were some hell spawn demon, I would've taken a virgin woman from you, but I'm not!" He was insulted at the mere idea that he was some sort of liar, and that he killed anyone he felt needed to be murdered. "Just as a knight abides by his rules, I have to abide by my own..."

The scrapes that now covered his body ached, as he was soon realizing what pain was after such a long time of peace. Not once had this mythical creature been harmed in such a long time, and now to abruptly feel such agony... it was truly unpleasant, and he hated every single moment of it. The situation in which it was inflicted didn't even prove to be a valid reason to attack, it was a mere misunderstanding, and a brutal assault lacking a good reason. Who knew such a lovely day could bring such an ugly conflict? Especially in this beautiful pure forest!

  • Silence was a golden weapon; more deadly than a hidden blade and more potent than any poison. In truth, his fiancée never would have needed to say anything, since Leonas never asked, and of course, assuming things could be one of the worst mistakes in battle. It seemed that it applied in real life as well; but Leonas couldnâ??t be blamed, all maidens were considered virgin in this standing. And she was so sweet, so kindâ?¦ So pureâ?¦So innocent. The knight couldnâ??t, wouldnâ??t believe it; a blind devotion to someone dead. They say that when someone dies, when they leave, the bonds arenâ??t severed, but tighten. Unfortunately, it seemed that the threads had been over Leonasâ??s eyes. The normally level headed knight was filled with bitter hatred. But still, weather she was a virgin or not was not the point; he had loved her. And heâ?¦He just killed her!

A dark pleasure sprung up in his chest, seeing the unicorn wince in pain, blood blossoming on fair skin. But it wasnâ??t red, but silvery, like the colour of moonbeams on a clear winterâ??s night. Beautiful. Leonas shouldnâ??t have this kind of pleasure, inflicting pain, most of all a helpless person. But the rage that filled his veins made him soâ?¦angry, the way that the other was looking at him, looking up, wide blue eyes. He wasnâ??t innocent! â??Shut up.â? He growled, blond hair escaping his hair tie, falling over his face, framing his dark green eyes. â??You know nothing!â? The dagger was raised, held to the unicornâ??s neck. How dare he feel that this wasnâ??t right, how dare he! How dare he suggest, so boldly, that she was a liar!

Sheâ?¦ The sweet girl, who clung to tradition more than anyone he knew, the pure, the sweet, without a sin. â??How dare you say that!â? The knight hissed, the knife trembling slightly. â??She would never lie! You donâ??t know herâ?¦!â? Protect? Protect?! The only protecting he did was driving, killing, anything that was human away from the forest, the warnings were higher than the number of people who managed to get out alive.

The mention that he was a knight, he had rules to abide by, a shiver went down his back, as eyes glared. â??Shut up.â? Duty, orâ?¦ He was playing with him, like an organ in the church, confusing, demonic, angelic. He knew if he murdered the unicorn, his title of Knight would be revoked, his lord and ladyâ?¦ They were simple, but good souls; she had been one of the ladyâ??s lady in waitingâ?¦ His hand was trembling, and the dagger slipped from his palm.

â??You should have killed me with her.â? His voice was calm now, but he didnâ??t retrieve his dagger. Instead, his hand reached for his sheathed sword, the bright metal reflecting the sunâ??s light. He hated him, â??I hate you so much. All these days, knowing that I will never see her smile again. You took her away. She was innocent!â? He shouted, the sword drawn fully, and now pointed at the otherâ??s neck. â??You should have just killed me with her.â?[/list:u]

This enchanted creature looked uneasy when the silence had drawn on though. He was worried about what the knight was considering, and how far he was willing to go. Many times he would deal with people hunting after him, but never were they this successful, nor were they this close to actually killing him. He could tell that most hunts were for mere sport, not actually murder, just enough to say that they actually hunted for him. This man, however, had a grudge. He wasn't just another man who had decided that he would try to make a name for himself. No, this man was attacking because of a perceived misdeed that actually was entirely his fault. After all, if he had merely asked the girl, he would've known the truth about what was going to happen to her, and the whole situation could've been avoided.

When he was ordered to be quiet, this beast had obeyed, merely knowing he wasn't the one with any form of advantage at the moment. What he didn't like though, was that look in the man's eyes that read that he would do anything to make himself happy. His current happiness was having the unicorn dead, which of course wasn't exactly leaving any doors open for hope. "It isn't a matter of me knowing her." He spoke softly as the blade was brought to his neck. Though he was getting more and more scared by the moment, his body didn't seem to show it now. He was just simply trying to comprehend what was happening still, and so he had hardly moved from his place at all. "It's a matter of the truth... I also wouldn't have killed you with her even if I wanted to. Though you are a man, you are a virgin. However, you were one of the few pure-hearted left. Though obviously I am now wrong about that, considering how demonic you have turned over past crimes."

He knew it wouldn't take much before his throat was slit, and knew that the danger of being killed off was very real. He was trying to play his cards right, to find some way to survive. An idea had stuck him though, and even if he wasn't initially comfortable with it, he'd try it, "I.. I have something to offer if you let me live. My blood has healing properties." He spoke quickly, those blue eyes filled with desperation. "If I just simply use those healing properties, I can save many people who become injured. I can save lives to try to make up for a small fraction of those I had taken." The thing that struck this creature the most, was that he would have to leave the forest for awhile to save his life in the long run. Even though he didn't want to, he knew it would be the best thing to do, and it would ensure his survival.
