5e D&D Fantasy Characters in a Modern World

Vampire lord Varek was surprised as the party descended into the town hall and started slaughtering the guards. All his minions were killed and Varek decided that he needed to handle this on his own and get rid of the group once and for all, and when he moved towards the fight, he was ambushed by the group and Daylight shined on him as searing rays of lights struck him and burnt him badly. Varek hissed at the group, seemingly surrounded and unable to escape as the last of his minions were killed. The party was out for blood and he knows it. Varek had no choice but to break his magical rod, an artifact which has granted him much power, but it also allows him now to create a portal and escape.

Varek stepped into the strange world and saw bright light even at night. Spotting a manhole, Varek turned into a mist to moved into the sewers to escape undetected. He was badly wounded and in need of blood and moved in the sewers and finally emerged in a dark alley as he detected life above. Varek saw a man making out with a lady in the alley and quickly tossed him aside and kissed the lady. The lady was dazed and Varek bit into her neck and drained her life away.

"What the fuck?" The man shouted and pulled out a gun and fired at Varek. The bullets hit Varek and his wounds closed. Varek turned and stared at the man. He looked like a simple thug with a weapon that could not hurt Varek. Varek's face turned demonic as he transformed into his vampire form and drain the life of the man, which gave him little to no nourishment. "Damn, too squishy." Varek said and went to the lady and drained her blood again.

Varek was a little confused with everything here. The clothes these people were wearing were not familiar and they carried weird things, and to blend in, Varek took the man's clothes and turned into a nightwing bat, carried the woman and flew off into the night.

Erin and the group stepped out of the portal and the vampire lord was no where in sight. It was a strange world with bright lights even at night. As they were getting their bearings and searching the alley, 2 uniformed men entered and demanded to see their IDs and Erin silently sneaked behind them and knocked them out and quickly escaped.

The party managed to find a fire escape and entered an apartment to change into clothes to blend in, and they have to lay low to learn more about their location. The owner of the apartment returned home to find the party in the house, but he was easily charmed by Erin and given gold to help the party. The man -- Herbert Brown -- was friendly and started explaining modern technology to the group, and how things work so they can function. He also helped to convert gold to cash, and all the characters have money to spend and know some of the basics of the world but it still fascinates them. Herbert did make a good profit in this exchange and was friendly with the group.

As everyone got to know the strange new world with the help of Herbert, the vampire too created minions and learned about the world. Humans in the modern world were fragile and depend on their modern technology too much. There were news on multiple murders, and things are getting worse and the group need to find the vampire lord quickly before he creates more minions and become powerful again.

Varek was enjoying himself as he drained the life of a young lady and he was confronted by 2 police officers who spotted him. The police officers spotted the limp lady on the ground and drew their guns and pointed at Varek. Varek stared at the large officer and the officer looked dazed and drew his baton and clubbed it at the other bald officer's head and the officer collapsed. "Interesting..." Varek muttered and got the officer to explain his equipment and how things worked.

"I need to meet the person in charge." Varek said and the officer nodded and Varek follow him to the police station.

 

[Melethron]

Melethron nodded to the man as he sat in the human's living room with Erin and his companions. So, this was a more advanced human society? At least in terms of technology. As Herbert spoke, he listened attentively. In a world where magic was a novelty, an individual as tall and fair as Melethron was sure to attract attention. After hearing the man out, Mel smiled. And politely asked who ruled this city, and where the group could spend the night. Discretely of course--the fewer eyes to see the group, the better.

Ralfy had problems finding clothes, and ended up with kids sized clothes after a shopping trip with Herbert. This strange world is not very kind and Ralfy mainly stayed in the shadows to observe how things worked. Trying to look for criminals, Ralfy had a lot of difficulty contacting them and things were simply strange to him and after being invisibly observing things like the police and how some of the gangs interacted, Ralfy had to learn a new set of street conduct to try to blend in.

Ralfy started his scouting mission to search for Varek. Well trained in reconnaissance, Ralfy could pick up things that were not right, and he followed several groups of people to understand how drugs and guns work, and it did not take long before Ralfy acquired one and shared with the group. The streets were complex and much more orderly than where Ralfy came from, Ralfy spent hours scouting to look for signs and learn more about this strange world and it seems to be powered by one thing -- Money.

"The humans here are weak." Varek said as he drained the blood of another beautiful lady. He looked at his brood of vampire spawns, all beautiful and blonde. He signaled to them and one of the ladies came over and gave him a blow job. Varek enjoyed himself and tossed the lifeless lady aside and heard knocking on the door.

A pretty lady opened the door and saw 2 uniformed policemen and invited them in. The cops looked at the ladies and were confused. "We heard reports of some screams coming from this house, can we look around?" A cop asked and the ladies smiled and hugged the cops. "What the hell do you think you're..." Before a plump cop could raise the alarm, the ladies kissed him and squeezed him. The cops were easily overpowered. "Hey, I don't want too many cops dead." Varek said.

"But they smell so good..." A lady said as she was sucking the dick of the older cop and bit into his erection.

"Do you want to be destroyed?" Varek said sternly and the lady was suddenly in fear and could not move. Varek walked over and grabbed the cop. The cop looked dazed and Varek casted a spell on the cop and sent him out. Looking at the other cop, Varek shook his head and casted dominate on him. The cop walked out and both cops went into the garage and drove a black van that was filled with corpses. The black van was driven into the junkyard and the cops set fire on the van burning the corpses and proceeded to go to the nearby drug den and started executing people.

Erin followed the sound of gunshots and saw 2 cops executing people in a neighborhood. "This is so weird." Erin said and was amused by the power of firearms. "No one is stopping them..." Erin said and it looked like an execution as the cops simply reloaded their weapons and shoot at the cornered people. "Something is not right." Erin said and decided to find out more by moving invisibly towards them. The older cop was easily knocked out with a club to the head and the plump cop spotted Erin and pointed his gun at her. "Shit..." Erin muttered and the cop shot her as she danced gracefully around him and continued her attack. The cop managed to hit her in the shoulder and the bullet went through her flesh as Erin stabbed him in the throat and killed him.

Erin spotted more police cars approaching and casted hypnotic pattern and as the cops stared at the strange lights, Erin quickly moved away into the alley.

Herbert shared the news about the serious incident which happened hours ago as Erin returned. "40 burnt corpses found in a van and 2 officers killed." Herbert said. "This is the worse spat of violence even seen in this city." Herbert said. "I think the vampire is behind this."

"I know he is here, and we need to find him fast before the city is over run." Erin said. "Melethron, will need your help in finding the vampires, and we can definitely back you up. My invisibility last for 1 hour and I can cast it on you..."

 

[Melethron]

"Excellent."

Melethron said, acknowledging Erin's words with a nod. "My one concern is how many times I can cast Divine Sense, or Locate Creature. The spells only extend to a certain radius, though when I cast Divine Sense, it will briefly consecrate the site, potentially protecting the people inside its radius from Varek's evil. We must be conservative on when and where we use my power. Knowing the habits of vampires, Varek will attempt to ingratiate himself with some patron who can conceal him. The ruler of the city, or the captain of the guard for instance. Alternatively, if I could persuade the town guard to allow me to see the bodies they discovered, I could resurrect one of them, and see if they might have any information that could assist us.

"Sounds like a good plan." Ralfy said. "I can monitor some of the ruler and leaders in town and see if they are vampires, I'm pretty good at recon."

Ralfy tracked the Mayor and followed him to his house. There was nothing out of the ordinary. The mayor lived in a nice house and Ralfy climbed on the walls and peeped inside while remaining invisible and saw that the mayor had a beautiful wife. "This guy works in the day, and been outside a few time, can't be a vampire." Ralfy said but before he decided to leave, he decided to searched the house and monitor them a little more. As he entered the house, he triggered a silent alarm and within minutes, the police surrounded the house.

"Shit..." Ralfy muttered and found a place to hide. 8 police officers arrived and searched the house. They found nothing as Ralfy remaining invisible and hidden and Ralfy saw the lady kissed a cop and dragged him into the toilet. "Hmm..." Ralfy said but the cop emerged after a few minutes and left. "Looks like we have something here." Ralfy said and noted it down and left. He returned to the group and reported (informed Erin and Melethron) and decided to go to the guardhouse (police station to check)

Ralfy sneaked into the police station as a fat old cop entered and hid behind him. As the fat cop walked away, Ralfy proceeded to check out the police station. However, the security camera picked up Ralfy and a few officers were sent to find him.

Ralfy found the evidence store and suddenly a cop shouted, "Hey you there! Stop right there!"

Ralfy quickly ran off and turned the corner just to see 2 more cops. "Fuck..." Ralfy cursed and casted Sleep.

The cops collapsed to the ground and Ralfy ran into the stairwell. He heard footsteps and quickly turned invisible and saw 3 more cops coming down the stairs. "Sleep..." Ralfy casted and the cops went limp.

"Wow, these guys are really weak." Ralfy muttered and clubbed them unconscious just to be sure. He waited behind the door of a stairwell and saw 2 cops rushed by and surprised them. Chopping a cop's neck, the cop's eyes rolled back and collapsed. The other cop was shocked and pounced on Ralfy. "Shit..." Ralfy cursed and the cop shoved Ralfy to the ground and pinned him down. More cops arrived and Ralfy kicked the cop on him several times and broke the cop's ribs and managed to break free but another cop fired a tazer at him and shocked him.

Ralfy was dazed briefly and as the cops approached him with handcuffs, Ralfy managed to compose himself and casted Darkness. The cops were engulfed in complete darkness and Ralfy rushed up to the roof. He opened the door and an alarm sounded. "Fuck..." Ralfy muttered and casted a fly spell and flew off into the night.

"So many guards." Ralfy said. "Quite dangerous to go alone, need to regroup."

Ralfy returned to the group and shared his failure to them. "I don't understand how they could track me but they do have some quite dangerous weapons that can stun you. We need to be careful."

"Trying to find vampires at night is playing to their advantage, but this place is just so built up. So many buildings." Erin said. "The vampires have to feed, and we need to find where they feed."

"The burnt corpses and several other reports are at the downtown area and south side, you should check that out." Herbert said. "I'll search for more info on the dead."

Herbert went to the hospital and chatted with a few contacts about the morgue. There were a lot more bodies coming in, mostly homeless people and visitors from other states, bodies remained unclaimed. Herbert paid the orderly $100 for the information and went to the morgue to take a few photos. There were definitely a lot of pale corpses and Herbert could not tell if a vampire did it and quickly left to return to the group to show them the pictures.

"I'm not sure how else to find out about the vampire kills, but here are some photos." Herbert said. "They all look pale because they are dead."

A motorcycle cop entered an alley to search. The alley used to be filled with homeless people and after 4 deaths, patrols were required to look inside. He saw a beautiful lady exiting and wiping her mouth. "Hey ma'am, do you have any ID?" The cop asked and the lady smiled and approached him and looked into her purse. She punched his throat and quickly dragged him into the shadows. The cop choked and the lady was inhumanly strong and she rammed his face on the wall and he slumped to the ground.

She exited the alley again and saw a flashlight and another cop approaching. "Nice boots..." The lady said as she leaped on him from the wall and covered his mouth. The cop was shocked and she strangled him with her hands and he pawed helplessly and went limp.

Moments later, the alley was swamped with cops as they found the 2 officers unconscious and all the homeless men in the alley dead.

OOC: More vampires, need to feed on more humans.

"Well do any of them have any bite wounds?" Lillian responds to Herbert. "Not that having them is a guarantee, but the lack of them, would certainly be a giveaway that the vampire didn't kill them."

Ralfy was curious now to find out more about the hospital and also where the bodies came from. "Good idea Lillian, I think searching the bodies for bite marks work, but will they also become vampires?" Ralfy asked. "I want to find where these people were killed. The vampire may hunt there again. You guys wanna come?"

Ralfy went invisible and left for the alley. He searched around and saw several cops securing the area as well. "Hmmm, something happened here." Ralfy peeped into the alley and searched. Ralfy saw bodies getting burnt in large oil drums. "Fuck..." Ralfy said as there were cops and gangsters burning them. "What the fuck?" Ralfy approached and looked at the bodies. They definitely had bite wounds.

Ralfy looked around, 3 gangsters, 5 cops and as he peered, he saw a lady fucking a man in the corner. "Vampire..." Ralfy muttered and decided to take out her guards. He moved behind a gangster and stabbed a dagger into his head and the gangster went limp. Shoving the blade up the throats of 2 gangsters, the collapsed. "Easy..." Ralfy casted a sleep spell again and the cops collapsed.

The vampire did not notice Ralfy approaching and Ralfy surprised the vampire with rays of scorching flames and the vampire burnt to a crisp. "Done." Ralfy said and the cops outside started rushing into the alley. "So many of them, almost out of spells. Need to think fast." Ralfy muttered.

"Did not look out for bite wounds." Herbert said. "But sure a lot more murders going on."

"Don't worry, we will check it out." Erin said as she nodded to Ralfy, Lillian and Melethron. Erin looked at some of the photos Herbert took and saw bruises on the neck. "No bite wounds, but bruises. So they may be vampires."

Following Ralfy into the alley, Erin spotted a corpse stuffed in the corner. She saw several police officers around and quickly changed her appearance to look like a cop and moved towards a group of them. "Can you help me over here?" Erin asked a plump cop and as the cop walked into the shadows, Erin gripped the side of his neck and blocked bloodflow to his brain and the cop went limp. She sneaked behind the other cop and knocked him out easily.

Erin saw bright flames in the alley and saw a group of cops rushing in. "SLEEP!" Erin commanded as she casted a sleep spell and the cops collapsed. Spotted 2 cops in a police car, Erin casted a hold person and the older cop who grabbed the radio suddenly could not move. She sneaked towards the other confused cop and chopped his neck, knocking him out and quickly knocked out the immobile cop as well and dragged them into the trunk of the car and cuffed them. Returning to the alley, she cuffed and knocked all the sleeping cops out.

A man was draining from one of his charmed victims and saw bright flames. He quickly went into the alley to check it out and spotted a corpse burnt to a crisp and a short man (Ralfy). Several cops outside also spotted the bright light and entered the alley and the man stood aside and allowed the cops to pass by as he tracked the short man and walked up the wall to track him.

 

[Illven]

"Are they going to be concerned that we cast on them?" Lillain asks concerned directing it at Erin.

 

[mainman]

"I don't think they saw us." Erin said to Lillian "And they are sleeping for a long time."

Erin spotted more cops rushing into the alley and changed her appearance to look like a cop and as they entered the alley, Erin cast Hypnotic pattern and the cops looked dazed. Only one of the cops was confused and did not stare at the lights. "What the fuck is going on?" The cop asked and Erin walked over and clubbed him in the head. "Not too hard..."

"Shit...more..." Erin said as more cops entered the alley.

The vampire wiped his mouth and followed the cops and entered the alley. He spotted several limp cops on the ground. He looked around and called for more backup.

Ralfy saw Erin arriving and taking out some cops but more were coming. Ralfy moved behind the rear cop and choked him silently and hid him behind a dumpster. As Ralfy moved towards a fat cop, a man tried to grab him and Ralfy was pinned to the ground. "Fuck..." Ralfy muttered as the man was much stronger than him but Ralfy got a hand free and stabbed the man. "Got him" A cop shouted and a few other cops came over and disarmed Ralfy and he was easily subdued. The man stood up and his wounds have closed, and the cops seem to be working with him. "This little thing is causing a lot of trouble." The man said and sniffed Ralfy's neck. "Bring him back of interrogation."

Ralfy struggled slightly and the man rammed a few fists into Ralfy and Ralfy went limp.

Varek wiped the blood off his mouth and smiled as he looked at the 3 dead prisoners on the ground. He fed the corpses some blood and nodded to the warden. "They are dead now, send them to the morgue."

The 3 prisoners were top assassins/spies that were eventually captured after many sabotage attempts in the country. Varek visited them as they woke up and had a calm chat with them. "I am your sire, and you no longer work for anyone. You are on top of the food chain now, and you can do as you please." Varek said. "You are beyond human, so feel free to try out your powers."

"Useless..." A man said as he found the limp cops in the alley and saw Erin choking an old cop after chopping the neck of a fat cop. Erin noticed a man rushing towards her and dodged his initial attack. This man was different, he was much faster than the cops. Erin shoved the old cop at the man who tossed the cop aside and continued his advance.

Erin dodged another attack and managed to stab her dagger into the man's neck, leaving a deep cut and was shocked as the wounds closed up a little. "This is not good." Erin said and dodged her attack and observed that the wound closed within seconds. The man was getting frustrated after missing a few punches and decided to grab Erin and force her to the ground.

"Shit..." Erin muttered as she was grabbed. The man was inhumanly strong and she was prone and the man forced his body on her to pin her down. "Fuck..." Erin muttered as the man revealed his fangs and tried to bite her. "Guys... A little help her..."

OOC: This man is one of the prisoners Varek turned into a vampire and used by him to solve problems.

Ralfy woke up in a cell, still tasting blood in his mouth. "Fuck..." Ralfy muttered and saw a few cops arriving and they brought him to get him processed, took his fingerprints and photos. "This little one is very dangerous, put a few officers in the hospital already." A sergeant said and the other officers stared at Ralfy.

In the middle of the night, the cell door was opened and 4 officers entered Ralfy's cell and clubbed him, knocking him out and Ralfy woke the next day with a bad headache and slightly dazed. He was given some food and the officers seemed to be quite careful when they approached Ralfy. "This is not good." Ralfy muttered as he checked the cell door. "There is no lock!"
