Name:Holger Grimsson
Age: 34
Role: Expedition Leader / Veteran Scout
Image Reference: Holger Grimsson
Information: Holger hails from the Western Isles of the North Coast, his people long time raiders of the Empires more Northern Settlements before a series of wars saw his people defeated and assimilated into the Empire. Fierce fighters, his people are often found hired as Mercenary Guards for the Wealthy and those that can afford them - their size and strength and skills make them in high demand. Even the King counts North Men among his personal Kings Guard.

Holger spent his youth fighting the Empire, and his adulthood fighting for the Empire. Holger found himself the leader of an Auxillary Unit composed of other North Men, moving quickly and quietly through all terrain while raiding behind enemy lines - a natural place and tactic for his people. A natural hunter, Holger prefers the Spear and Hunting Knife along with Leather Armor adding to the diverse weapons that North Men use in battle.

Due to his experience, and his peoples natural inclination to unexplored and unknown areas, Holger was highly sought after by the Cartographers Guild as was the primary choice for expedition leader. With its ties to the Legion and the Government of the Empire (where the Cartographers Guild holds large sway and influence on Expansion policies) his Commanding Officer assigned him to the Expedition.

Name: William (Will) Riot
Age: 26
Role: Forward Scout
Appearance: Will Riot
Information: Will's birthplace isn't widely known, but he grew up in the wilder villages of the Northeast and grew up hunting and tracking to survive. He spent a short period of time working as a mercenary scout for the armies, and then left that life to seek out more profitable employment as a free-lancer.

Will is a tracker who is known for for following through on his assignments. Whether it's to retrieve a runaway bride or help someone bring back a murderer, he has always brought in the bounty no matter how treacherous the terrain or how risky the job. He's made a small name for himself in the kingdom, and has recently been nominated by a mining merchant as someone crazy enough, and competent enough, to serve the needs of the forward scouting party. The lands between their kingdom and the next is unexplored and could require innovative ways of getting around tribes without being seen.

He is also quick, quiet, and loyal to whoever is paying the coin. The money behind his nomination is looking for information that would increase their personal wealth. Having a person on the 'in', who may or may not share everything he sees with the Cartographers' Guild, would give this person an extra edge in profiting from the expedition. Since this forward party is considered expendable by the kingdom, no one disputed the idea of allowing a competent nobody to be added as part of this small contingent.

Will Riot stands to gain a lot. Money? Check. Excitement? Check. The opportunity to become a famous tracker and raise his rates? Double check.

Name: Unknown - Red
Age: Unknown
Appearance: Red
Information: Red - the name given to him because of his decidedly red hair - draws stares wherever he goes. At nearly 7ft tall, he is truly a giant of a man. Those that have encountered him would think perhaps he is a giant, or a half giant, if such things actually existed. They would ask after his parentage and where he has come from - but for all the questions asked, he has never once said a word. No one knows why or if he is a mute. He can certainly understand what is being said and has followed commands. Those who have fought with him are certainly glad he has been on their side.

Sinewy with muscle, he wields a giant axe with ease that most men would struggle to lift. His minimal garb and armor never seems to change, no matter the weather - from the hottest of suns to the coldest of winters, he never seems harmed by the Elements. And if that wasn't the strangest thing - he doesn't even wear shoes! His feet are wrapped in bandages though it doesn't seem like he has any injury they cover.

Name: Laelia Severan
Age: 28
Role: Navigator and Map Maker
Image Reference: Laelia Severan
Information: Laelia is a daughter of the capital city, her style, attitude, and accent making that clear even without introduction. Her father had very much wanted a son, which explains her 3 younger brothers. She was fortunate to have a mother who could see a bit beyond her father's limited vision for a girl's service to the Empire, which was to bear lots of little imperial soldiers. Her mother arranged for young Laelia's education with some of the finest philosophers and mathematicians in the empire. Telling her father that it would make her a more 'interesting' mate for some minor noble.

As the empire expanded, particularly the southern sea, the need for maps and accurate navigation became more apparent. Being a woman, she was unable to obtain standing in the Cartographer's Guild, however her artistic ability allowed her to be tolerated as a scribe with a number of men taking credit for her work, having 'looked it over'. She has navigated and mapped much of the warm southern sea as well as rivers and plains as far south as Nubia, but has never ventured onto the great sea to the west. She was chosen for this assignment as the only men qualified considered it a suicide mission, the small party being 'expendable' to the empire. Many thought the drunken ramblings of the 'north men' were simply tales of fancy meant to increase their standing in the empire.

She is once again eager to trade her skirts and corsets for breeches and boots. She will miss the social life of the capital but tells her self it will only be a year, or so. She has managed to whittle down her gear and supplies to a mere six crates as she awaits her final instructions to join the party.

Of course when the Empire began expanding her family was soon to be called, however her mother fell sick to something that had no cure so with their deepest regret her family sent her to try and find out if in this new land was a cure, a plant that could be used to heal people with her mothers illness. Knowing that she would most likely die on the way there she said her final goodbyes to her parents and wondered to the transport to explore new horizons and new lands.

With an entire new land in front of her she would need to do everything possible to make her parents proud as well as the Empire. She knew most people would act with questions and even fear so she just hoped to be the one who could kindle some trust in the empire, the one who could develop new and medicine and overall record her adventure so that her father could read it when she gets home.

Name: Sabina Clarke
Age: 25
Role: Linguist & Negotiator
Image Reference: Sabina Clarke
Information: The daughter of a linguistics professor at the University of Catahan, Sabina was immersed in languages from infancy and learned to read and speak dozens in the early years of her life. As she grew, she assisted her father in his research, traveling with him throughout the Delmas and Nehu Empires to study languages from different groups of people. It was while on these adventures that Sabina learned to perfect her communicating skills, often negotiating her father and her out of dangerous situations. When the gentleman decided to retire from his travels to focus on teaching full-time at the university, Sabina assisted him behind the scenes, since women were not allowed to study at the university.

The last year, however, turned Sabina's life upside down. Her father, accused of spying for the Byzantine Empire, was imprisoned and executed. Fearful for her life, Sabina fled Catahan and has been working in the Empire as a translator for the merchants in trade. Recently, a former student of her father's recognized Sabina. Instead of accusations, he offered her an opportunity to travel and help the Empire as part of an expedition for the Cartographers Guild.

Despite her linguistic and negotiating capabilities, Sabina has not been part of mainstream society, thus she usually watches and listens before speaking. She uses words sparingly. but she does so with care. She also has an uncanny ability to pick up new languages quite easily. Sabina hopes that this expedition will lead to a permanent position with the Guild or open doors for future employment.
