The night had gone well so far as the other bands took the stage and rocked the crowd with heavy guitar riffs, pounding drums, and a variety of melodic and growling vocals but as the final band for the night was announced and moved to take the stage there was a cacophonous cheer that rippled through the audience. The time had arrived for Ethereal to take the stage and out they came dressed in various shades of black, some with buckles and jackets while Volker Bastian, the lead singer, was as extravagantly adorned as always in a long jacket that draped down his legs and made him feel like more like a warlord than a simple man. He smiled and soaked in the attention while he lifted his hands to further rile the crowd, his bandmates taking their places and getting set with their equipment behind him.
There was Gunnar Beck, the lead guitarist and the type of person who took his music way too seriously on stage but was quick to laugh and relax off stage, Karsten Gill, the bass player and backup vocalist whose rough appearance was only matched by the gravel of his voice, Elias Dalin, their drummer who looked a fair bit younger than he actually was and was always looking for outlets for his pent-up rage, and last was Jori Palo, the keyboardist and a smug bastard who was not only confident but somehow managed to be rather suave even through his superiority complex. They had all come together from different backgrounds only a couple of years ago but they had quickly amassed a loyal following and were recognized for natural talents to the point that the rising fame was already inflating their egos and making them wilder than they had ever been before. Truly though they were darker than they appeared, their hearts lacking in empathy and filled with darkness the likes of which could hardly be considered worth redemption. They were as flames burning bright and drawing in the starstruck women like moths towards their inevitable demise.
Looking back to see that the rest of the band was ready Volker adopted a power stance at his microphone stand and teased the crowd one last time, announcing the first song of their lineup as the music kicked into gear. Their performances were known to be positively electric and this one seemed unlikely to let anyone down as Volker's powerful yet smooth voice enraptured his fans and held them, hypnotized, as Ethereal once again proved that they were far more than just some upstart studio band.
