Callum was born into a family of five, his parents and two siblings. He is a triplet with his two brothers, Finley and Rowel, and one of only two omegas in his family. The other is Rowel; Finley and his parents are all betas. His parents were often stressed at the prospect of raising not one but two omegas, but they lived in relative peace in the city of Taville. While both his brothers have married and mated, Callum has not. He enjoys his freedom of working with finances, has a boyfriend of two years that he is happy to take things slowly with, and has come to terms with his orientation through the support of his family.
Work was seldom a place of noise or commotion. A quiet place for professional work to be finished in silence. Conversation kept to a minimum. Callum was intimidated to be in a room full of people and hear nothing more than the scratch of pens on paper, the crack of fingers on keyboards. Almost as intimidated as he was by the thought that he was required to see his boss today. He was told ahead of time that it was only to discuss the business’ budget for the upcoming year. Didn’t make him any less nervous. The boss, a man who didn’t need to ask to get what he wanted, walked with the air of confidence only an alpha could uphold.
He was lucky to have been hired in the first place. As an omega, Callum was automatically viewed as inferior to his beta and alpha co-workers. Replaceable, dispensable.
One deep breath was all he allowed himself to take, folder gripped in one hand. Knocked on the open door frame twice, then entered. His skin itched in anticipation, face flushed. It wasn’t the first time they’d spoken together, the boss and he, but the fear wrecked his body. The collar of his shirt irritated the back of his neck. The room felt too hot with his suit jacket on. “Excuse me sir? I have the budget report for next year completed like you asked for.”
