Twin cones of light lit the shaded downtown road, permeating from the front of a sleek Camaro, bright yellow and shining in the dim light of dusk. Daniel Williams was living a decent life, humming a catchy pop tune (the actual song made him want to claw his ears off, but the tune was catchy) while the pleasing voice of a British gentleman read the chronicles of a science fiction adventure to him (courtesy of his iPod). Little troubled Daniel, since graduating college he'd settled into a cozy job as a freelance graphic designer where he could primarily work from home and keep his own hours. He made plenty of money (enough to buy all the little gadgets that caught his eye every month or so) and he had a modestly furnished little one-bedroom condo near Main Street. He saw something out of the corner of his eye and tapped the brakes, slowing down to see what it was.
