I think I could get into more d/s RPs if instead of commanding someone to lick my boots I could just like, tell them their data sucks and veto their expense report. Because that is an awesome feeling.

On the bright side, if I work on posts instead of actual work stuff, I get to procrastinate while also feeling productive, so that's nice.

Since you welcome comments, I don't know the band, not like you do. But what I thought to remember was that it's a Dutch band. So I had to look it up on wiki and I was right. They *are* Dutch. Sharon den Adel is one of the founders. Totally not my thing though. But I always find it funny when people are promoting Dutch things. So thank you.

You're welcome! I feel like this band was super popular with nerdy girls on the internet in the early 2000s and a lot of us just never let it go. Plus the fact that even their most recent albums are pretty solid doesn't hurt.

So it figures that the only not-cold, not-raining day of a holiday weekend would be the very last one 😑

On the bright side it's finally starting to feel like summer. The hot, dry, windy, wildfire-inducing summer. And while my HOA fees went up significantly this year, it appears that the community pool will remain closed for the summer, or until the mask-eschewing rednecks who believe all of this is a conspiracy theory eventually overthrow our chronically-stoned overlords. In the meantime I guess I'll continue to stay inside in the hopes of eventually being able to travel back east to visit my mom's pool so I can drink vodka lemonade out of a waterbottle while reading Outlander books my beloved family.

Also, listening to jamz of summers past always seems to help.

Guys, I'm still sick. I'm still stressed. I'm still tired of all the bullshit that is 2020. I know I owe posts to several people, and I want to thank those partners for their incredible patience and count myself lucky that I have the privilege to write with y'all.

My plan right now is to set aside some hours this coming weekend, put on some great tunes, stretch out on my bed and just go down the rabbit hole and get every single one of you taken care of. But right now between work troubles, a particularly bad flareup of a preexisting medical condition, and some of my very dear friends getting tear-gassed & arrested for nothing more than being good and justice-seeking human beings, my head is just not in the right place at the moment (also, there are motherfucking cliff swallows nesting on my roof and apparently it's a federal offense to disturb them, so I get to deal with literal shit all over the place every day).

For me, RP is always supposed to be a fun activity, not an obligation, which is why I never hassle my partners for responses and why I'm so grateful when they return the favor. All in all I just wanted to give everyone an update and express my sincerest thanks for all of your amazingness, and I promise I will have responses ASAP.

In the meantime, here's one of my favorite piano pieces of all time that coincidentally happened to be written by a black man who wasn't given a headstone until 50+ years after his death, when his music was featured in a Robert Redford movie. Enjoy.

Oh lord it has been a day week. Mostly corporate work power struggles threatening to bring out my inner Aries psycho bitch, but Mr. The Cat is also attempting to undermine me (the DM) in our DnD group as well, potentially ruining my session for later.

I know a half-elf artificer who's gonna be taking a long walk off a short pier if he doesn't fall in line... :cautious:

So today I got an email from my local library letting me know the book I checked out in March is finally overdue (albeit only by a week). Not sure if I feel guilty or rebellious about that, but I'm still way too much of a coward to actually go in the building so it's off to the dropbox for me this afternoon!

FYI the book was The Immortals by Jordanna Max Brosky. Surprisingly boring, didn't finish, do not recommend.
 
I don't know why I always end up listening to female-fronted goth metal bands in the shower on Saturday mornings, but hey, it's a thing I do. Today in particular I was reliving some good college memories and blasting some Nightwish, when this song came up.

I've really been wanting to do something with mermaids for a while, I'm just having a hard time coming up with a plot. I'm hesitant to just throw "something with mermaids" in either of my RTs, since I've since learned that if you're not specific about what you want when it comes to monster girls, you're gonna get 8 million requests from people just wanting to fuck...whatever sex organ mermaids have (Note to self: Wikipedia?).

I need to find a way to mix in some old-timey sea tropes (see "Moby Dick," "The Lighthouse," maybe "Master and Commander"?) with maybe some gothic vampire-esque feels (the mermaids drink blood to be able to walk on land?) then figure out what the hell the story is supposed to be about. Also, maybe throw some pirates in there?

If anyone knows of any good shows, books, movies, etc. that I can mine for inspiration, let me know!
 
So all the rest of my meetings for the day are cancelled, because I'm apparently the only person in the company not taking a summer vacation this year (because, you know, death plague 2020).

I know I owe replies to several people, and I'm going to try to get them out ASAP, but not gonna lie, kiiiiiiiinda feel like laying on the deck with a book and rosé and vegging out before the inevitable evening thunderstorms.

I love it so much. I think I want to fuck every single person on it (except Eleanor, because a basic bitch is a basic bitch even in the 18th century). It's definitely reigniting my dream of getting a really good, mostly-historically-accurate pirate RP going, but then comes the trouble of coming up with a plot that isn't totally derivative yet still attractive to partners.

Maybe if I watch a few more seasons I'll get an idea...
