Forbidden love

Those words resonated through Elizabeth's head. Her love was so far away and he had promised so much. Would promises be broken?

Elizabeth sighed as she gazed around her surroundings. The place that she'd once been told to call her home was now nothing more than a prison. Trapped with seemingly no end to her current fate. A multitude of colour surrounded her within the white walls but as far as she was concerned, everything appeared grey.

Gazing out of the window, she stared out across the landscape, the rolling hills twisting in shades of green and forestry, hearing the soft rippling of the nearby river and the contrast of the sky from a clear blue to a hue of violet mixed with crimson and orange, the colours appearing as if it was pastel on a canvas, preparing the night sky for the ensuing glittering display of stars and the full moon.

She wished for her love to come rescue her but how could he when she was promised to another?

The atmosphere within her home was tense as a result of her father going mad. All of the inhabitants of the house had to be on guard around him for fear that they would be targetted and abused. Manipulation shrouded him like a dark clock and the aura around him was green, predictably like a villain but his aura was out of envy, his greed of more and envy of those that appeared to do better had sunk its talons in and warped his mind. There was no escape from his torment.

Elizabeth knew she needed to leave this place but had to bide her time so that she could truly become her own woman, independent and secure. Whilst her true love promised to provide and protect her, she wanted to ensure that nothing was owed. She'd been told all her life that whatever had been bestowed on her was a debt that she would forever pay. She only wanted her true love to be there for her and love her with all his heart but so many challenges stood in their way and neither knew when they could see each other again. She dreamt of him every night, imagining his soft hands taking hers, pulling her close and holding her tight in his arms. Light moans of adoration of her love telling her how much he loved and adored her. Her happily ever after. Her fantasy broke when she was snapped back to reality from a call from the betrothed
