Hi there! I'm Quent, he/she/they, and I'm 32. I've been writing for more than half my life at this point.
First things first—I have a goofy schedule. I'm perfectly fine leaving messages to one another if we have wonky schedules, but I understand not everyone can do that.
Some quick stuff about me:
I absolutely WILL NOT:
I like personal connections between the characters; complicated slice of life, big changes, traumatic backgrounds, addictions, dystopian vibes, flawed/fucked up people living flawed/fucked up lives. The setting itself is secondary to the emotional ups and downs of interaction and growth. That being said, I am not a fan of strictly modern/realistic, medieval fantasy, or heavy/detailed war/military style and high political intrigue/espionage style stories. I have zero interest in writing the nuance of warfare and I'm probably not very good at it anyway. Now with all that shit out of the way, let's get some ideas out shall we?
ideas & snippets
Very Gay x Questioning/Not Gay
self explanatory, I'm interested in writing a character who is either so deeply repressed and closeted he's never dared to explore that side of himself, or someone who is directly questioning their sexuality. Maybe they've met someone who has enthralled them, maybe it's against their will or maybe they're just curious. Maybe they've never felt these kinds of feelings before and they don't know how to act, maybe they're terrified of this new part of themselves they have kept hidden for so long. This is a very loose concept obviously and I would be open to working out specific details with a partner.
Hunted x Hunter
An old favorite, a monster hunter who comes across more than he bargained for. Or maybe the monster isn't what it seems.
Slave x Master
The idea here is a species of creature (shifter, perhaps alien? or something else) has been heavily hunted and captured, their physical attributes making them ideal as laborers and general service slaves to the 'superior' humans. I am interested in writing a bond that develops between an owner who has compassion and cares for his slaves/workers (maybe the slave was forced on him? or purchased because of poor conditions?) against a creature who does not trust humans period, and has not had his spirit broken by being captured and sold. The eventual goal is romance but it will take a lot of warming up before the creature is open to trusting his master. The original premise was a high fantasy setting with a homebrewed shifter race I made, but none of this is required, I'm happy to brainstorm.
Newly turned
A man wakes up in the throes of hunger or rage and comes across a strange vampire who offers to help him with his new life as a monster. Maybe he's heard this vampire is full of knowledge of all sorts of creatures and he sought him out specifically, or maybe he just happened across him and needs help navigating newfound talents and consequences.
Mysterious Stranger
More of a meet cute idea, a night of dancing and clubbing becomes bizarre when a partner is found who is not quite like all the other dancers on the floor. No specific characters in mind for this, maybe a comedic romance with a weird monster and a guy who has no idea what he's come across.
"Where the fuck did that building come from?"
[sci-fant, monsters/supernatural, eldritch horror, comedy-romance]
Welcome to the Garden, Paradiso, a casino-resort-styled structure that appeared over… a week? No, that couldn't be right. It was huge, made of imported metal and sheet glass, and impressive titanium alloy skeletons, something like that couldn't just appear. Construction robotics moved fast, but Jesus-fuckin'-Christ - like It had always been there. Strange-fuckin'-things are afoot at the Circle K, my good dude. Hey, the parking lot is loaded though. It's probably safe.
"Hi! I'm your neighbor - just wanted to welcome you. House has been empty for awhile,"
[mod-fant, monsters/supernatural, psychological horror, drug/alcohol abuse, violence]
Something changed when the New Guy moved into the wasted out, starved Victorian skeleton of a house. He seems pretty okay, probably. He started cleaning up and working on the house; he seems to do most of the work himself. He seems fucking normal, mostly; looks scary, sort of. Maybe it's vibes or some stupid shit, but it feels a little eerie. The guy is interesting, though, gotta' give him that. It's probably just that creepy fucking house spreading its creep onto the poor guy. He's definitely, probably fine.
"Man, I'm sorry, you seem really familiar--"
[sci-fant, aliens, romedy, culture clash, potentially thriller/space horror, exotic anatomy]
A stripper/dancer/escort alien runs into a particularly zealous or infatuated client in an unusual place (eating at a donut arcade, buying groceries). I see a lot of comedy here, even if there are darker undertones at play - could possibly become some sort of toxic coupling? Stalking?
"Don't follow strange noises at night; if they were for you, you'd know,"
[horror, thriller, supernatural, monsters, romance]
There's something in the dark, wet woods out along where the gravel paths fade into the murk of long grass in deep mud, something that watches and waits. There's all sorts of lore, there, most of it just made up shit, sure - but there's no denying, the air crackles; it feels different. Electric. Powerful. Like a deep, measured breath, but rustling, turning, whispering. Is it whispering? It's the wind, sharpened to a howl by the trees, surely. It's not distant screaming. You'd know .
"You are safe now,"
[sci-fant, mystery, monsters, horror/suspense, slow burn]
They are rescued - maybe they were enslaved, or kidnapped, or maybe they were pulled out of a terrible accident, given life-saving aid, by a creature who does not have the appearance of your average friendly hero. The rescuer is a demon or fey, with pronounced/significant nonhuman features, and a rather horrific aura in general. The creature seems self aware; he merely remains calm, patient, offering his aid with painstaking care and time. He finds housing for the victim, or otherwise helps them rise up from their trauma, trying very hard not to seem like the Big Scary Villain.
"Fuck yeah! This is an invitation to a halloween gala - look at this, it's gold filligree and fucking papyrus, real-deal shit! This place has the biggest, best masquerade I've ever heard of - you're gonna' LOVE IT!,"
[mod-fant, comedy, thrills, slow burn]
A simple invitation to a cool, rich-person halloween party where hundreds of people come dressed in costumes that cost a fortune, and get ripped all fucking night. A BLAST, most say - but it's more than just a party. It's a party for really important things, entities, monsters even, where they can let their tentacles out and play catch-up on the last millenia. It can get wild and freaky, but never deadly. Even existential terrors know how to place nice in a neutral place; the host expressly forbids in-fighting, where mortal enemies must ceasefire on the property, and he's very good about enforcing that rule. A personal invitation is reserved for the host's closest/dearest friends/acquaintances, but there are hundreds of generic (but still formal) unspecified invitations sent out, each allowing for up to three +1s. Meals are provided for all guests, including those with Special Dietary Restrictions and Requirements.
None of these are set in stone! I'm open to brainstorming totally new ideas and characters with a partner, just sling me a DM.
Here's a word bank because maybe that will help??
[ Hurt/comfort, angst, questions, manipulation, drug/alcohol abuse, victim, survivor, comedy, odd pairs, quirky characters, opposites attract, unspoken thoughts, uncertainty, growth, horror, macabre, ethereal, magical, 80s, tragedy, adventure, drama, large casts, gothic, FEELINGS, crime undertones, cops and robbers, western monsters, lonely towns, lonely people, sin, "what am I?", This town is really weird, spooky mansion, high fashion, sex and gender identity, toxic personalities, toxic relationships, reconciliation, rage, hatred, pain, emotion, loud bass, long drives on gravel roads ]
Kinks vary for each character but limits stay the same: bathroom kinks, vore, pregnancy, extreme musk/unclean odors, feet, bestiality, characters younger than 21, hyper/unrealistic proportions, excessive body fluids.
First things first—I have a goofy schedule. I'm perfectly fine leaving messages to one another if we have wonky schedules, but I understand not everyone can do that.
Some quick stuff about me:
- lazy lit to novella, it honestly depends on the scene that's happening, my length will vary and I do not expect you to mirror my length or to mirror yours
- big fan of mixing genres—cyberpunk fantasy, western fantasy, science fantasy, historically flavored weirdness (I am not historically accurate at all). As you can tell I like fantastical elements, usually in the form of monsters and supernatural varieties.
- I have tons of premade OCs and am always looking for reasons to make new ones or create new connections with my boys.
- I ONLY write m/m pairings.
- I use face claims/realistic models for my characters. I don't mind at all if you use art or photos, I enjoy looking at any visuals or aesthetic.
- Speaking of aesthetic, I love it. I love finding stuff that reminds me of the characters or the scene. In general I love chattering about what-ifs and potential ideas (or off shoot stories, whatever)
- I don't mind NSFW content as long as it isn't the ENTIRE idea is sex. 60/40 story/whorey is my go-to.
I absolutely WILL NOT:
- rapid fire respond ever
- write any character below the age of 21
- write any premade character that I did not write myself
- write with anyone younger than 21 (preference for 25+)
- pester you for responses (but I will definitely share a million memes)
- write historically accurate/realistic settings (I'm just not well-read enough to do so with any confidence)
I like personal connections between the characters; complicated slice of life, big changes, traumatic backgrounds, addictions, dystopian vibes, flawed/fucked up people living flawed/fucked up lives.
