The room was dark. No windows to escape from. The door locked firmly. She knew that not only from trying the knob a dozen or so times, but the lock was load and it's sound rang through the room as they locked her inside. One thing was good about this space, it was bigger that the little box they had brought her here in. Moving and shaking around on the back of their cart. Dark and cold.
How many days had it been? Unable to see the sun made it hard to tell. At least 5 days? Or had it been four? Could be 6? It had been night when she was taken. A night that lit up the sky with red and light. Her home and half her village ablaze. While none of her captures had spoken to her since they took her but she had figured out by now that it was all them. They were the ones that started the fires at her home as well as the homes around hers. They smoked her out and while everyone was busy putting out the blazes, five strangers snatched her away. They drugged her and bound her and put her in a box and brought her to this place. It has been a long time on the road, that she knew. There was no telling where she was or even what direction home was. Even if she could escape this place, where would she go to? They would only find her again. And she just had a feeling they would not give her up without a fight. They wanted her for some reason. They had traveled far, planned much. They wanted her. But for what reason?
Just then, the door was opened and light poured into the room. Kiara had to shield her eyes for the sudden light hurt. From the light appeared a dark figure. A man it seemed. She couldn't even tell if this man had been one of those that took her or if it was someone entirely new. But he slowly approached her and looked down upon her. His face was in shadow, but something told her a smile was on his face. "No wondered it was you that he demanded. You are a beauty beyond all those who have come before you."
Before she could ask what he was rambling about, his hands came down upon her. One gripping the back of her head, the other forcing a cloth over her mouth and nose. Kiara reached up to fight him, but the man was strong and held her tight. He started to stroke her hair as the drugs took effect, stopping her struggling until she was loose and agreeable with him. "Shh," he cooed to her, "do not fight. It will not make you sleep as the last time. No this will just make you more willing. It is time you be prepared. He wants you by the time the moon is at it's highest point in the sky this eve. And we do not want to keep him waiting, do we?"
Kiara still had no idea was he was speaking of. He made no sense. Who was this 'he'? Was he the one that had her taken? Why go through such lengths for her? She was just a girl. What was so special about her?
She had no idea how special she really was.
Once her capture found her agreeable enough to be handled, her removed the cloth from her face. She was indeed not asleep, only drugged to a point where everything felt like a dream. He turned towards the door and as he exited, six women entered. Helping Kiara to her feet, they lead her from the room into the light of day. She was too out of it to realize, but outside her little holding room, an entire village stood watching her be taken from the dark space to be prepared. As she was helped along, the man rose his hands and spoke to the people. "Tonight, my family, our God will have his bride!"
