I'm looking for something different today. I love a good fish-out-of-water type of story, and I think they get even better when the situation comes in pairs. It's fun to see somebody get lost in an environment that's foreign to them, whether it's a distant nation or a different world entirely. But in this case, I want to explore something even stranger: When you lose everything that you've known for your entire life, and find yourself thrust into somebody else's place in a snap. I'm looking for a story where things are normal for my character, but as he becomes more closely involved with somebody in his life, well, circumstances manage to make him become that person entirely, and vice versa. It could be a fade-to-black unconciousness event, an experiment, waking up to a bad day, etc.
I'm not a big rules person so this should be pretty simple. I want a partner who lifts their share of the brainstorming effort, as well as their share of writing and driving the story. I can do longer posts (4+ paragraphs) but they also take longer to write, so 2-3 is my sweet spot. I love smut as much as anyone, but I especially love smut that is solidly anchored in the events of the story. On that subject, my F-List is right here. I will love it if you ask me about them and I will definitely want to discover yours.
I'm pretty open to suggestions, setups, and interpretations around this core idea. I've got a few example stories below, but I think that anything we could collaboratively build would beat out these that only came from one half of our pair's minds.
Favorite Themes
- Two students find themselves out of place a couple of weeks before finals. Are they supposed to sort themselves out first, or figure out a way to pass the exams and buy themselves some more time before their lives get even more upended? And don't even get started on all the upcoming extra-curricular that are on each one's calendar.
- They were fierce business rivals, without a terribly high opinion of each other, thinking they could perform much better than the other. He'll find out that it isn't so easy to get your project ideas across when they don't take a manager in a skirt so seriously. She'll discover that his success has painted a target on his back that others don't hesitate to viciously exploit.
Fantasy
- The potions were supposed to help them focus and bond with each other during a desperate upcoming battle, but instead they were knocked out unconscious, and indeed, out of their bodies entirely. Being a sorceress isn't as wonderful as her talents played it up to be, when you don't even know how to cast a simple spell. And it was much easier to call him a bonehead, when it wasn't her job to physically place yourself in front of raging hordes and take all those knocks to the skull.
