Most children grew up reading silly fairytales of how the prince slew the dragon to rescue the princess and lived happily ever after. Most children, that is. This world held secrets. It was much darker, much crueler than what people perceived it to be. There were demons among them. The deadliest of demons were the ones that lived alongside the village-folk. Vampires, blood-thirsters, slaves to the night. Well, that is until they found a way around that.

Witches.

After years and years of torment from the sun, two of the oldest of vampires, Vincent and his brother Gabriel Page, approached the elder witch to negotiate. Gabriel wanted to be able to live with his human lover, not only during the nights, but during the days as well. While Vincent sought the power walking in the sun would be able to give him. The two vampires promised the covent their protection from now and to their ancestors to come, as long as they promised to help vampires walk in the sun.

The elder agreed, doing the spell personally. Over time though, Vincent’s hunger for power only grew, he was furious that his brother was too occupied with a woman, a human woman. So, he sought to end his distractions in hopes his brother would come to his senses. He killed her violently and without mercy, however, it did not go as planned. Gabriel was enraged, promising revenge. So, he fled, seeking the witches aid in hiding him.

500 years later, Vincent’s demands for the witches only grew. Not only was he demanding them to hide him from his brother, he began to ask them to aid him in his ventures, doing unspeakable acts, threatening them if they wouldn’t comply. There were some who obeyed obediently, fearing for their lives, while others tried to reason with him, telling him he was breaking their long-held pact he made long ago. This angered Vincent, and quickly, he disposed of any and every witch who disobeyed him.

Or so he thought.

Aurora was a mere child then. Still, she would never forget his face, the way he laughed as he ripped out her family’s throats. They told her to hide in the closet, not to come out no matter what. So, she just sat there, holding her breath as she watched through the crack in the door as he slaughtered them. Mother, father, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, all of them, all except her who stood frozen, unable to do anything. She remained in that closet for hours after he had left, and when she finally gathered the courage to come out, all she could do was sob over her deceased mother’s body. It was that moment when she made the decision. Vincent had to die.

She needed revenge.

The girl knew the history, knew the only way she would ever be able to have a chance to kill him was if she found him. Gabriel was the only one who could take him on, and with her help, she could find Vincent for him, even if he was hiding behind witches. The only problem? Aurora had no idea where Gabriel was, he had fallen off the map ages ago. Still, she knew he was alive, could feel it. All she had to do was find him.

As Aurora grew into adulthood, she harnessed her powers, became strong enough to rival even the best of witches, and after obsessively looking for Gabriel, she finally found him. He was in a tomb, hidden away by a spell, obviously hoping to never be found again. Still, she needed him. If Vincent continued on as he is, who knows what he would do next…

Opening the tomb was surprisingly easy, much easier than finding it at least, and once inside, there he was, lying there as if in a peaceful slumber. Taking a deep breath, she stepped beside him, swallowing hard as she grabbed her dagger and slit her palm. There was no turning back now. Slowly, she hovered her clenched fist above his lips, allowing her blood to trickled down her flesh and drip into his parted lips, muttering her spell-bound words under her breath as her blood slipped down his throat.
