It was a cool day, cool enough to wear a sweater at least. Well, for Rhiannon, sixty-five degrees was below freezing to her. She wasn't used to this sort of weather. "I miss Florida," had been her choice of words until just a few days ago. She'd been trapped in Washington for almost six months, and she was finally learning to appreciate the almost constant rain. The one thing she was most certainly not looking forward to was winter. And since the temperature was dropping with each passing day, she knew snow would hit eventually. "Ick." But today, the sun was no where to be found. She'd decided that while the weather wasn't below freezing technically, she'd go hiking the nature trails with her camera and catch up on her photography class portfolio.
Rhiannon pushed some broken branches from in front of her walking path with the toe of her left hiking boot. "This is ridiculous," she murmured to herself. Why on earth had she felt the undying urge to go hiking, of all things? She was a klutz if there ever was one, and her jeans already had a few little holes in them from hiking through brier patches. Apparently she hadn't realized that they were brier patches. Rhi rolled her eyes as she stopped, camera in one hand, hem of her sweater arm in the other. She reached up and brushed some stray hairs from her face and realized that it was beginning to rain a little. "Thank God for a mass amount of trees to keep the rain off." She sighed, she hated the rain, yet here she was walking in it.
Her dark red ringlets were pulled back into two small ponytails on either side of her head. Her hair fell, when down, to just below her shoulders, making her seem even shorter than she already was. Standing at a whopping five foot three, she was petite, small framed, with just a hint of curve here and there. Being seventeen, she liked to tell herself she just wasn't fully matured yet. "Whatever," she groaned at the thought, biting into her soft pink lower lip as she started forward again.
Pulling the camera up to her dark brown eyes, she took a few snaps of the too green leaves on the trees along the trail. She could easily get lost in this forest, and had taken great care to not set one centimeter off of the marked trail. A frown came to her face as she stopped once again, a pale hand reached up to her left cheek, pressing against a fresh knick. It was hardly anything, just a stinging red line along her cheekbone.. "How did I manage that one?" She wondered aloud with a sigh, reaching into her pocket as she let her camera dangle around her neck. "Dad is going to wonder about this one," she sighed again as she dug around in her pocket in hopes of finding some form of first aid. Not even a band-aid, which she should have known she was going to need eventually. "At least I'm not bleeding uncontrollably, he can't get too upset about a little scratch." Rhi realized that she was talking to herself, and inhaled deeply before grabbing her camera and starting forward on the trail once again.
