The Rod of Seven Parts - Info and Lore thread

Jynx
Age- Adult female (Anthro's age much slower than humans so they simply go by maturity rather than years.)
Occupation- Rogue, Assassin, Saboteur, Scout
Weapons- dual short swords, several small daggers/throwing knives, and Bow and arrows
Armor

Jynx was born into the Shadow Claw clan. A clan of elite assassin's who sold their talent to the highest paying party or country. The clan holds no loyalties to any flag, King or Country. Their only loyalties are to their clan and their family. They have a very strict code, no innocents, no unarmed, fellow clan members and absolutely no children. They will never kill without deep investigation into their targets to make sure the target deserves the kill. Those who break this code are severely punished and or killed.

Jynx herself is a veteran assassin and now moonlights as an adventurer when she's bored or in between work. She's feisty, foul mouthed, confident, humble (when needed), intelligent, sarcastic, loving, caring and sweet (again when needed). She's fiercely loyal to her clan and fellow clan assassins.

Some say that changelings are demons, and some say they are fae. What is the truth lies somewhere in the middle. They are dark fae, the Aos Si, the Unseelie. It is said that they are often switched with human babes, and this is true. The fae-child needs human mother's milk to live. But sometimes, just sometimes, the Sidhe leave the child with the humans, and that child lives a human life.

This is what happened to Marek, though that is his human name. His truename is Athrezoth, and he was raised, for the first few months of his life, by a human couple. However, once they discovered his true nature they were stricken with grief, knowing that their true son had been taken. They thought of killing the babe, but knew that would bring the wrath of the fae down upon them. So they did the one thing they could only think to do; they gave the babe to a nearby monastery.

The monks there were merciful and kind, and though the child was not human they raised him as if he were. They never tried to hide his true heritage from him, and they taught him their ways. As a changeling, a fae, he had deep ties to Nature, and his skills proved to be extraordinary. However, for Marek, he felt something that most fae never feel; guilt. He knew that he truly had no brother, and yet his human parents (for he still loved them) had lost a child through no fault of their own. His time in the monastery had given him human feelings and yet he found he could switch them on and off as he so desired.

As he grew, which was faster than any human, he became more than proficient in the fighting arts and with a multitude of monk weapons, excelling in both the spear and the sword. He loathed wearing armor, though he could wear steel, but like most of his kin, iron hurt him terribly. Leather and other types of armor were fine as well, but he found he preferred to stay unarmored, as it hindered his movement, and his own natural defenses were quite formidable.

Unfortunately, the Monastery of the Veil, as it was known, had many enemies. The Elders knew this, and knew that there was an attack coming. They had sent Marek, along with a few other apprentices, to the nearby city of Caliphas for various supplies. While they were gone the monastery was attacked and razed, the monks slaughtered by their ages old enemy, the First.

The First is a cabal of killers, and they hold themselves to no standards. For the right price, they will kill anyone; men, women, even children. The monks opposed them, their own martial prowess legendary, and anointing themselves protectors of the innocent.

When Marek and his brothers returned to the monastery they were shocked. Of course the monks had kept Marek's true identity from his brothers, but in his rage and despair his form slipped and they saw him for what he was for the first time. Unsure of what to do the small group of apprentices renewed their vows of brotherhood to one another and set out on their own, to not from The First and to also teach their skills to others. Eventually they knew they would have to face The First and they needed to be prepared.

For Marek he still wanted to get his human family's brother back as well. So now he is a wandering monk, helping those he can and keeping his identity a secret, as he travels in a human form. He has two forms he takes, that of a wandering traveling monk, and that of a powerful mystical monk. Both forms, and all his human forms, are completely hairless, as is his true form. He has found he cannot replicate hair, and so all forms he takes are completely hairless.

Over time he has grown in power, and in a need to feel some sort of camaraderie as he's been separated from his human family, and then his monk brothers, he joined the Adventurer's Guild. Over the years he has risen through the ranks, though he is particular about what sorts of deeds he does. People look upon his kind with suspicion, and only the Guildmasters know of his true form.

He is deadly unarmed and quite efficient in his movements. He is an excellent swordsman and also lethal with the spear. There is not a monk weapon he is unskilled in. He has deep ties to Nature and uses Spirit Magic, which allows him to heal himself and others, and to call upon the energies of all living things around him for offense and defense both.

Name: Sybille Rousseaux (Elf)
Age: 131 years old, appears in her late 20's-early 30's.
Occupation: Adventurer, sword for hire, former swashbuckler...
Weapons; rapier, a few daggers,...
Magic type: Water (Ice)

Sybille Rousseaux is an Elven woman that comes from a noble bloodline with questionable origins. The name Rousseaux doesn’t sound Elven at all which makes one wonder if Human blood flows through the veins of this nobility. If it did, it must’ve happened a long, long time go for the Rousseaux’s are very much Elven now and they continue to influence the Taldor nation.

Sybille grew up in the noble districts of Oppara, often sneaking off to the rougher parts of the gilded city in search of more interesting things than table manners, politics, and suitors. The dark-haired girl wished to see the world for herself, and join the ranks of the many heroes of Golarion. But in order to do that she had to leave her family.

Her family was very much against her decisions but they didn’t stop her either, for fear of resenting each other later on. But they stayed in touch and were still on good terms.

A hero’s legend never started with wealth or peace, it was forged in the bowels of hardship and danger. So her journey began in the ports of Almas, specifically the black market there. Sybille was approached by a man who was seeking new crew members for his ship. Although it became clear to her that he merely showed an interest in her to be one of those companion ladies that on occasion traveled with ships to keep the crew ‘happy’. She quickly proved herself that if she were going to join a pirate ship, it was going to be by their side and not between her legs.

And so she eventually became a valid member of The Raider, left hand of Hardwick ‘Devil’s Charm’ Ymo.

Seasoned adventurers in this world are usually registered with one of the many Guilds. As they rise in rank and skill they can be told apart by the amulet they wear, as given to them by the Guild. These amulets are attuned to the wearer and magically return if stolen and are notoriously difficult to destroy.

Fourth Rank (the lowest): Bronze Amulet
Third Rank: Silver Amulet
Second Rank: Gold Amulet
First Rank (expert): Platinum Amulet

Most everyone is the world is born with a gift of some sort of magic. Magic is divided into Elemental categories. Air, Earth, Fire, Water, and Spirit.

It is not entirely unheard of, but sometimes a person is born who has no magical affinity whatsoever.

The Queen of Chaos, The Dragon Queen, She of Many Faces, Nilat the Corrupter...

All names for the primordial evil that reigns over Chaos.

The Mother of Chaos and a great source of evil, Tiamat, the Chaos Queen, presents on the Prime Material Plane as an immense dragon with five heads, or as a beautiful humanoid woman. Though these are the forms she takes, she can take any form she desires, thus spreading Chaos.

The General of the Chaos Queen, and rumored to also be her lover, is Miska, the Wolf Spider. An exceedingly powerful demon lord, he also has many forms he can take, though is most often seen as a huge warrior with a spider's head, or as some sort of monstrous amalgamation.

The town of Vigil.

Two concentric walls circle Vigil, with the exception of the opening of its small harbor on the Path River. The thick outer wall and towers are made of granite and surrounded by a wide moat filled with water from the river. The southeast and northwest gatehouses and the six towers of the outer wall are always bathed in magically created light. The inner wall rises higher than the outer wall, and it is whitewashed, as is all of the city and Castle Overwatch within. The walls have ballistae, catapults, and trebuchets, and are guarded day and night. Gardens with flowers, animal pens, and sheds lie between the two walls, tended by the faithful. Most of the buildings of the city are simple, blocky, and solid, but some examples of the Chelish Old White style exist as well, such as the five Tribune Halls and the Adventurer's Lodge. The streets and alleys of the city are clear and even the market stalls and carts are packed by nightfall. In the center of Vigil, a rocky hill named Watcher's Tor rises with the towering Castle Overwatch at its peak. Hedgerows of hardy dawnroses cover the lower slopes of Watcher's Tor, with wild climbing roses scaling even the steeper slopes below the central keep and the towering citadel. The magnificent Cathedral of Sancta Iomedaea lies at the foot of the Watcher's Tor.

Vigil faces Gallowspire to the north and the Hold of Belkzen to the northwest. The Crusader Highway connects Vigil with Vellumis to the southeast.
