The demona tower, it was both and blessing and a curse, an it all depended on who you asked. For many of the demons living in the tower they would claim it as a blessing, why? Because the newest occupant was a person all of the demons had grown to care for. They all cheered her on when it came to her mission to win over their queens hand and favor. They had all helped in their own little way, giving the little mage trips and tricks on how he deal with their hot headed queen.

But Vel? Vel thought the very tower itself was a curse. She was cursed to deal with meddling demons who thought she needed a companion, that she needed a girlfriend to help her. Help her with what, she really had no idea. But the odd little mage had slowly wormed her way into her heart, but she refused to admit it out loud. She refused to admit that the child had won, even if the woman was now allowed to come and go from the tower without dying, she needed to make sure the silly mage had enough gold on her at all times, she couldn't risk the idiot not being able to revive herself if she managed to die in the tower. After all the tower had several defenses that could be tripped or triggered if someone was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

"My queen.." Melathia smiled as she slowly made her way over to Vel who was sitting on her throne. The queen grunting slightly as she cracked an eye open to look at her general. "What is it?"

"The generals and I.. well we were wondering if you would allow us to throw a party for Malori, to celebrate the fact that she managed to win you over"

Both eyes shot open as Vel jerked towards the snake "She did not win me over, I am simply doing what needs to be done for the tower!"

"Then why did you hug her good bye this morning before school? An why did you let her know she's welcome back in the tower?"

Bel froze as a cold shiver ran down her spine, her jaw clenching tightly as her nostrils flarred. "That's none of your business!" She snapped as she crossed her arms and turned away from the woman. "Throw the damned party if it means so much to you, but don't expect me to be there!"

Melathia chuckled as she turned to leave making her way to the door. "Of course not, also there's three groups of travellers on their way up. You might as well prepare yourself for battle, the first group looks promising" with that she closed the door as a loud groan filled the air.

Vel didn't want to battle adventures today, she didn't want to waste energy on people who weren't worth her time. She just wanted to relax.. an age wanted Malori to get back from her classes, she wantes to learn more about the little mage, after all if she could figure out why the little mage had so much power she could fill the towers energy reserves and send the girl away and never have to deal with her again, it would be perfect!

To say that Malori was in a good mood would perhaps be the understatement of the century. She was elated, euphoric, on Cloud-9, her heart was singing with joy, her soul was singing to the gods with thanks and gratitude! It took many months of digging and scheming and planning, and finally, after her endeavors killing her for real, and after fearing that she drove her beloved demon queen had come to hate her, Malorie had begun chipping away at Vel's heart.

Her good mood was infectious, and even through Cerik had been mad and worried after her disappearance, he didn't have the heart to remind Malori of her promise to leave the queen alone after seeing her joy. She was a pleasant, babbling mess during lunch, and though he tuned out her descriptions of Vel's scent and the feel of her skin, he was genuinely happy for his best friend. It didn't hurt that, after class, she actually spent an hour helping him with his lamia stocking, no matter how icky that was.

As soon as she was done with that, though, she was off to the dungeon, a small wicker basket hanging from her arm as she bolted through the woods. Now that she was an official special guest in the tower, she saw no reason to go home for dinner. Nah, instead she could hang with Melathia when Vel got tired of her. Which, despite their new lack of hostility, she knew she still had a ways to go to get where she truly wanted with the demon queen, and didn't intend on taking a single step backwards.

After her brief sprint, Malori burst into the first floor of the tower, cheerfully greeting the minor bat demons lurking in the bottom floors as she raced upwards.

Mal smiled as she made her way down to the bottom floor, the tower had been cleared of adventures earlier in the day and over powered guards had been placed at the entrance to stop any late night adventures, it didn't happen often but Mal wasn't going to take any chances if they were planning a party. Everything had been set up on the top floor. It had the most space after all and Vel wouldn't be able to ignore the music and partying before curiosity got the better of her. If Vel wouldn't come to the party Mal would just bring it to her.

When Mal saw Malori she stopped at the second set of stairs smiling at the young adventure. "You managed to finally win her over little one, it's a good thing too, she was being a giant grump to everyone in the tower. She even had me cleaning every wash room I'm the tower as punishment" chuckling to herself as she started making her way upstairs. "But since you're an official guest now you can come and go as you please, but we ask that you don't bring any other adventures with you, Vel is taking a chance with you and even though she is powerful and has defeated anyone who's come here we don't want someone getting the upper hand on her" it was one of the rare moments were Mal was being serious even though she was excited for the young mage to be here she still needed to keep her queen safe.

As they made their way to the top of the tower Mal pushed open the large door to Vel's chamber. "SURPRISE!" All the generals cried out as streamers feel from the air, a banner hung across the room with elegant script writing that said 'Welcome to the tower Malori' tables were filled with all kinds of snacks and treats, all the generals were chatting amongst them selves as a few demons played music in the corner.

Mal chuckled as she gently pushed he small adventure into the room "The generals also wanted to surprise you with a party" looking towards Vel's thrown all Mal could do was sigh, she hoped her queen wouldn't be to stubborn and refuse to come. She wanted the two of them to get along

Malori was a bit bashful at her lamia friend's congratulatory words, and she sheepishly tucked a strand of her unkempt hair behind an ear with a light giggle, her cheeks stained pink. "Well, I dunno that I won her over THAT much," she said, though her tone still bubbled with giddy excitement. As she followed Melathia, her head bobbled up and down in an understanding nod. "Don't worry, I learned my lesson after last time..." she agreed. Still, she had a feeling that she'd be being Cerik back here soon, there was no way her BFF would be able to resist seeing the snake woman again. And that was fine, as she still needed to get stronger, so lighthearted dueling with the generals would be nice.

Once she entered the top floor, a Yelp of suror oi se sounded from the young mage, her violet eyes wide as she read the banner and watched the streamers trail to the ground. Well, looked like she wouldn't be needed the sandwiches she brought! "You guys didn't need to do this, since I was practically coming her to hang out all the time anyways," she said, though it was clear that she was deeply touched.

Thougvseeing Vel's empty throne made a twinge of sadness ping in her heart, she understood. Vel literally started accepting her presence a few hours ago, and after the fear of driving the queen away, she knew better than to push any boundaries. So this, just being able to be amongst her befriended demons with the direct approval of her beloved Demon Queen, was enough for her today.

As the party started to get under way the band started to play loud, music filled the room and it seemed to be infectious as other demons started to dance, Mal herself was even enjoying the event, drinking her weight it sweet wine as she swayed with the rhythm.

In the corner though she could see a tall figure standing in the shadows, keeping themselves as hidden as possible from the excited crowd. Shaking her head she looked at Malori to see what the sweet girl was up to before making her way over, grabbing an extra glass of sweet wine; one of Vel's favorites. Before stopping beside Malori "It seems one of our most important guests would rather hide in the shadows that join in the party" pushing the extra glass into Lori's hand she moved to the side and tilted her head in the figures direction.

"Why don't you go and see if you can convince our little friend to join us? she tends to me a sucker for some sweet wine and salty snacks" Mal was playing a very interesting game of chess in her mind, she was playing both sides but in the hopes that both sides would win and be together, she didn't want either side to feel like they needed to concur one another.

Vel could see Mal slithering around the room, her eyes narrowing as she watched her general closely, her tail flicking back and forth in irritation, already her general was trying to over step her bounds and push the small human towards her. Didn't they understand that she needed to do things her way without pressure and with out people forcing her to interact with Malori.

Granted, not that she would admit this to anyone. She was glad the little mage had returned to the tower so quickly, deep down a fear had crept into the back of her mind making her worry that the little mage wouldn't come back, that she would stay away completely and leave Vel to feel used and tossed to the side like some day old trash. Humans weren't suppose to be trust, they were suppose to be destroyed tossed to the side and forgotten, not missed, not wanted, not cared for...

Truth be told, though she was super happy that her demon friends felt the need to throw a party, it was a bit strange. I mean, sure, she'd only just now been appointed as Queen Velverosa's special guest, but it's not like she'd never just visited before. Between coming up to read something Melathia wrote, to exchanging makeovers with Fhaust, she'd come several times without seeing the Demon Queen. Not that she didn't want to those times as well, but it could get expensive to be revived so many times, even with her student discount.

Still though, the demon band was really cool! Malori was hardly a dancer, but she was intrigued by the band, and was happily munching on some kind of cinnamon crackers as she watched them play, and observed her friends busting their various moves. She was perfectly happy to just observe and enjoy the company of her friends.

Once Melathia approached, however, she set her plate aside, dusting some crumbs off her tunic. She blinked once in confusion as a glass of wine was offered to her. Malori was never really a drinker, despite having been of legal age in this country for a good few months now. The only time she ever really had wine or champagne was at functions Cerik's father invited her to, as she was essentially extended family to them. Other than that, she occasionally had the spiced apple cider that had been her adopted father's recipe, and it called for a touch of alcohol, but she'd never made it as good as him, and it often times just made her sad to drink it without him.

When the lamia told her what It was for though, she beamed brightly, and took the glass of sweet wine. Oooh, an excuse to go see Vel!!!.... Still though, there was hesitation, nervousness clear in her violet orbs as she absently twirled the glass between her fingers. "Are you... Sure it's a good idea for me to go to her right now?" She questioned Melathia, looking up at the literature-loving demon. "I-I mean, she said she wanted me to come by today, but if she's not joining in, maybe I shouldn't bother her?"

Mal chuckled as she patted Malori on the back "If she didn't want to be here she wouldn't be standing in the corner watching everyone. There's a lot abou tour queen that you don't know, there's a lot of things that even I don't know. But you need to be willing to deal with her attitude, she's going to fight, she might kick and scream, she might even through you out of the window a couple times just to get you away from her. Which reminds me" leaning over she quickly pulled out a small coin purse "This is some gold to pay for all the times she's killed you, I don't want you to risk dying if you decide to push her a little to far" she chuckled as she held out the coins. "It should be more then enough for a few deaths, an when you need more just come see me and I will get you some"

Vel was annoyed, she was almost pissed off. Why was Mal keeping Malori busy with idle conversation, the little mage was suppose to be her guest and was suppose to come see her. Growling slightly Vel stomped through the room, her generals instantly parting to move out of Vel's way as she made her way to her throne, sitting down she crossed her legs and rested against her hand, her free hand tapping her long nails against the armrest of her throne. Maybe, just maybe if she was front and center of the room Malori would come after her.

Mal n the other hand was chuckling to herself "Look at how she broods, she wont admit it but she's jealous that you're spending time with everyone instead of her. She never had to deal with fact that you spent time with us, hung out with us or even got to know us. All she knew was you would storm through the castle to come and see her over and over almost every single day for you knows how long" she chuckled softly as she pulled away and started to slither away leaving Malori to make a choice.

Malori hesitated for a moment, but she did eventually take the gold. She was still a couple thousand in debt, and she needed living expenses. She was sure the demon generals had plenty, so she didn't feel TOO bad about taking it. "I don't think she'll kill me again." The redheaded mage mused, thinking back to her conversation with Vel in the forest. She had meant it when she said that she wouldn't be Velverosa's punching bag any more, and she felt sure that the queen understood.

They both needed to find better ways to interact with one another. Malori needed to show more restraint around Vel, and Vel needed to find ways of expressing herself aside from violence. It would be a challenge, but to Malori, anything was worth it for her beloved Demon Queen.

Her eyes were, of course, totally glued to Vel as she strode angrily to her throne, and felt heat rising to her cheeks when the queen blatantly stared at her and Melathia. Surely it couldn't be THAT easy, could it? She was silent as Mel slipped away, and remained frozen by Velverosa's golden gaze, a nervous sweat beading down her forehead.

After swallowing her nerves, Malori began to walk forward, acutely aware of every step she took as she got closer and closer. This was her first time properly approaching the woman she loved, after all. Once she was a few feet away, she gave an awkward bow, her entire face red. "M-Melathia said you really liked sweet wine, Queen Vel!" She said, maybe a bit too loudly, before she straightened, cupping the wine glass in both hands and holding it out.

Vel blinked as she looked at the mage, cocking an eyebrow as she leaned forward in her seat. "Why are you bowing? You've never bowed to me. You suddenly have free rain of the tower and you become shy and worried? Do we need to go back to the old ways with me just yelling at you while I throw every spell I can at you so you're not meek and scared?" Why was Malori suddenly afraid of her, the girl had managed to get passed every test and wiggled her way through all the defenses to be welcomed and now she was scared?

Reaching out she took the glass and leaned back in her seat and slowly took a long sip from the glass, giving the girl time to collect herself. "Shes correct, I do e joy a good sweet wine. But this one isn't as good as my private stock" she teased as she swirled the liquid in her glass, her tail slowly flicking back and forth as she looked around the room. "Tell me, what do they teach you in those academys? It can't be anything worth while, you're the first one to reach the top of the tower so you must be different because that school isn't teaching you much of anything"

In the corner Mal was smirking, a book in hand as she continued to write down little notes. Everything she was witnessing was going to do perfectly for her stories, it was going to make the stories come to life and that damned publisher would have to buy her stories and put them out on the shelves for the world to see!

Malori giggled nervously as Vel took the wine. "Well, I guess it felt right... I guess? I mean, even though I came so you'd marry me, every other time I saw you as my rival? But now you've invited me here, so it's more like I'm in your house and since I'm in your house I should treat it and you with the respect you deserve and..." Malori paused herself, clenching her fists in her skirts. "Aaaaand I'm rambling." Malori's hands slid up, anxiously fisting in her messy red hair, giving it a tug before stopping.

"Hey, I'll have you know that the school helped me be good enough to get here!" She declared with a huff, puffing out her cheeks. "Not everyone can be an adventurer, and nobody can be one forever! We need to learn reading, writing, arithmetic too! And even if I'm no good at it, the school has trained tons of swordsmen and shield maidens!"

"You are in the tower, you're welcome to treat the tower like it's your home. You can come and go as you please, you treat my generals like their your est friends.. which I still don't understand how you befriended them so damn easily" she muttered as she leaned forward to look Malori directly in the eye "Everything you're learning in your classes could be taught to you here, my generals are all well versed in different aspects of education. Their teachers of different things.. Mal loves teaching everyone about history, Faust is good with anything involving math, Bark is good with physical training and I can teach you magic.. you're strong but you have to think to hard about casting your spells.. could you imagine casting any spell you want without having to think?"

When Malori rambled she was cute, too cute. Vel almost found herself leaning forward to tease the small girl about her rambling, her own tail was starting to betray her wagging slowly back and forth as she continued to watch the poor flustered girl.

Malori gave the demon queen a strange look as she began listing the skills and aptitudes of the generals, unsure why her beloved Queen would suggest such a thing. It was one matter to allow Malori to visit, but it was a whole other deal entirely to invite her to practically live there. Was this supposed to be some sort of test?

"Uhm..." She began, unsure of how to turn down such a quest, though she knew she needed to. "You know that I'll probably be executed for that, right? You know, since that would definitely be considered treachery. I've died enough times here lately, I think I'd like to take a break from that..." She explained hesitantly, then was sure to add,"I really appreciate the gesture, Queen Vel, but your generals already do a lot for me, and they have other duties too, right?"

Then, she smiled brightly, and sat down on one of the steps leading up to Velverosa's throne, craning her head so she was looking at Vel upside-down. "If you're offering to give me magic lessons, though, I think I could manage that~"

Vel frowned slightly as she leaned back in her seat, cocking an eyebrow as she listened to the mage talk. Her jaw clenching and unclenching as she started to get frustrated. "Why do you care about going back? You want to marry me, if you marry me you're going to be banished from the human realm" she was confused, toss back her glass of wine she waved her hand causing one of the servants to come running, the small creature bringing another glass of wine.

"Have you not thought about any of this? The fact that you're going be here watching me kill adventures every single day, some of them are not going to come back. They will die here, an what about the fact you will watch many of my demons die? Sometimes I can bring them back because I don't have the power too, if the reserves are low I'm forced to make touch choices.." she hissed as she tossed back another glass, not even carrying that her cheeks were gaining a slight red hue.

"An what about the day the king finally finds someone strong enough to beat me? Are you going to come rushing in to save me or are you going to watch me die?" She asked as she leaned forward staring Malori down, her tail curling and flicking back and forth. "What happens if we have children? Or is that off of the table since it would be an act of treason.. how is you being here not an act of treason?" She was grumpy and annoyed, why did her little human understand she just wanted Malori to be safe and the only way she could so that was to have her stay in the castle all the time.

Malori tried repeatedly to interject as Vel started her rant. "No bu--- Just lis--- Vel you dont't-----" She attempted again and again. She didn't expect this, for Velverosa to start going on a tirade, and her shock made her own temper flare. Nalori may love Queen Vel, but she certainly wasn't some kind of pushover! Did the Demon Queen seriously not think that she knew all these things!?!? That she hadn't lay awake at night so many times worrying about this!?!?

If Malori would have been thinking rationally, she would have been thrilled that Velverisa was talking like this, giving some merit to the idea of one day being her bride, and even having kids! But honestly, the fact that she saw fit to instead attack her hesitation in a weird sort of lecture deeply upset the mage.

She shot up, whirling around to face the Demon Queen, her hands fisted at her sides and eyes shining with a wet anger. "Don't you think I know all this??" She yelled, drawing a tight breath before continuing. "I want to marry you and END this stupid war! With me as your wife, I can forbid any from attacking you, and show them we don't need to fight! I can protect you, you big dumb dragon! I can keep these visits a secret, disguise them as adventures while I try to figure out a way to make you my wife! I can't do that if I live in the bloody tower! I want to save you, I WILL save you!"

Malori's breathing was hard and deep, s like of tears dripping from each eye in her frustrated fit. "You asked me to come here, told me you wanted me to come here, why? So you could drink and lecture me like a thoughtless kid? What, nowvthat I said I wouldn't be your physical punching bag, you thought I'd be your verbal one?!" The redheaded mage stood there for several seconds, her chest heaving with each shuddering breath, trying to figure out what to say, but after words failed her, she turned on her heel and started making her way towards the door to the tower's top floor, ignoring the awkward stares of the guests.

Go after her you fool, stop being such an asshole and fix this!

The voice in her head screamed causing her to jump from her seat, bolting through the crowd as she wrapped her arms around Malori's waist and pulled her close to her body, her large dragon like wings appearing from her back and wrapped around the two of them, blocking everyone from watching them as she hid her face in Malori's neck.

"I'm not trying to turn you into a verbal punching bag, but you've had time to think about this. You've had time to plan all of this out, but I haven't..." she whispered as she kept Malori close to her trying to calm down her breathing as everything raced through her mind. "How are you going to order all of man kind to stop attacking me? You're not a royal.. and as far as I can tell you hold no power in the royal court either" she muttered as she pulled away, her wings unfolding from around them as she swallowed the growing lump in her throat.

"How about we go some where private and talk.." she muttered as she looked at the crowd behind her, snarling to make everyone look away and return to their own business, licking her lips as she turned to face Malori again "Shall we? We can go to the very top of the tower if you would like, it has an amazing view"

"Aaah!" Malori yelped as she was scooped up from behind, instinctively bracing for impact. Who could blame her? Being rushed by the demon Queen tended to result in dying, and last time she'd gotten a rather painful face plant. Instead, however, she felt Velverosa press her face into the back of her neck and shield them with her wings, making the young mage flush in uncontrolled delight. She knew Velverosa was stupidly strong, but she was really able to appreciate it when the demon Queen so easily lifted her up.

When she heard Velverosa's tone, she instantly forgave the demoness, realizing that she was just frightened, the same that Malori herself had been when she realized just how monumental her task ahead was. Her heartbeat, which had began racing as she was scooped up by Vel, calmed, and she lovingly caressed one of the powerful arms around her waist.

Once Vel sat her down, Malori turned to look at the queen, wiping the tear streaks that had dripped from her violet eyes, which had lost every bit of frustration, instead replaced with concern and affection. "Ok, let's talk." She said softly, her arms hesitating, before they opened and she stepped forward, standing ok the tips of her toes to slip her arms around Vel's neck in the best hug she could manage.
