Riddle Me This

Thee who made it, sold it. The man who bought it, never used it. The man who used it never saw it. What is it?
 
Near the end of his life, my grandfather said to me, "TJ, I'd like to teach you a lesson about irony. Let me tell you my favorite riddle for most of my life." He did and before I could even think of what the answer might be, he looked at the funeral director and said, "Sir, I'll take this one."
