As some of you may remember, back in 2017 Equifax lost data on roughly 140 million US Citizens, and several million Canadians.

A tentative settlement has been reached, wherein Equifax gets to say they did nothing wrong but offers $700 million to cover those of us who are irked or perhaps hurt by their behavior.

The settlement administrator's site is here - or if you don't trust links go to the FTC's site directly. You should also check your eligibility first, but I imagine most Americans here are.

In order to get a cash payment, you need to get credit monitoring. Credit Karma provides free Credit Monitoring, which counts for the terms of this settlement. The monitoring provided by the settlement is through Experian, one of the other Big Three reporting agencies.

You can also get $25/hour for time you spend dealing with this, but keep in mind documentation is needed over 10 hours and I suspect those who just flat out report 10 might be looked at with more scrutiny.

Anyway, the settlement still needs to be finalized, but this is a bit of extra money for most of us.

Have a great day, everyone. : )
