Julius hadn't been to church in a long time. In fact, he hadn't really looked at the church in a long time, there was really no need. He was far too busy with work to think about God anyway. He used to be a rather prominent member before he just stopped showing up. It worried Father Davis deeply so he requested one of the sister nuns to go and visit Julius to ask him to return to the fold.

Truth be told, it was quite a trek from Julius' home into town. The journey alone made it somewhat understandable, but there was more to it. He wouldn't stop in for prayer if he was in town.

He had finished work for the day when there was a knock on his door. If it was William again demanding more furs to stock up for winter, he was going to break his nose.

He grumbled and opened the door. "William I swear, I'll have yer damned furs when you p-" he stopped as he looked down, having not seen William yet.

He was, in fact, staring down at a rather cute bovine woman dressed in a habit and robes. "Oh my goodness, hello!" She said, taking a step back, "Are you Julius?"

He was a massive grizzly bear, bristling with thick fur and large muscles. "Aye, I'm Julius.. And you are..?" He asked, gently tossing a rag around his shoulder.

"I'm sister Mary, I'm with the church! The Father was concerned for you and asked me to check on you, he said you hadn't been around in a while.." She said.

He looked her over a moment and huffed a bit. "No, I suppose I haven't been to prayer recently have I?"

"Ah," it seemed she heard that a lot, "of course...well, service is every Sunday from morning to noon. Please try to come?"

"God bless.." He said as he watched her leave. Damn. Of course the pretty one was a woman of the cloth.

She sighed softly as she made it back to the road where her carriage was waiting and rode back to the church, "How unfortunate..."

He made a noise. No sense in making more enemies. When sunday rolled around, he made his way down the mountain, and was on time for morning service.

When he entered, he saw Mary standing with the other sisters, and when she noticed him she smiled and waved gently.

"It's good to see you again, my son." Father Davis moved beside him, a smile pulling at his wrinkled muzzle, "I'm glad the sister could reach out to you."

He smiled and rubbed his neck a bit. "Have to admit, it feels nice to be back, father.. The businesd has taken off what with the city being built.."

"I'm glad the Lord was able to bless you as He has." He smiled, "Feel free to come by any time, my doors are open to you always." He said, patting Julius' shoulder gently.

The service was nice, peaceful. He didn't know why he stopped coming. Oh, wait, no. He knew why. It still stung to think about.

He scowled a bit, looking at the place where his wedding band used to be. He shook his head softly.

"Excuse me..." A voice whispered. It was Mary and she was waiting to be allowed to sit by him, "Hello...!"
