I am the ancient, I am the land.
The land of Ravenloft awaits a small band of brave souls to pass beyond the mists that lead into it's grey and bleak world of horror. This adventure will be based on the original module, loosely tailored to keep it fresh for those who are familiar and tweaked to well, add some spice to the affair. Since this is my third time dipping my toes into a group play I've opted to keep the group at an intimate number. So while I'll be accepting at most three players to partake in the affair I'm also perfectly willing to go with just two.
If your familiar with Dungeons and Dragons, great, if your not, don't worry. Even though Ravenloft is based on the game system I'd like to spin away from that as much as possible and keep it a strictly human affair. No dwarves, elves, half elves or orcs, just humans. I could care less about classes for this, preferring that people have a set of skills that seem reasonable and aren't relying on wild fantasy powers or magic to define their characters abilities. If there's any questions regarding a character concept I'm happy to discuss those and willing to take suggestions that fit the very low magic flavor I'm looking to establish.
As for the story itself, my initial intentions are to introduce our players into the tale from the vantage point of one of them having received a rather fancifully penned note delivered into their hands. It would inform them of the passing of some relative in the distant and relatively unknown land of Barovia. Also included in the note would be their blood right to acquire that persons lands and holdings, which are described as a manor with it's own private plot of land and house servant. Of course this character is on a turn of misfortune financially of late and views the formal letter stating her inheritance of this property and all of it's wealth to be something to good to pass up. So she acquires herself a few companions for the trip (after all the rumors of the path there being thick with wolves would make it seem a bad idea to make the trek alone). Whether they be friends, mercenaries, or something else entirely is open for discussion and collaboration.
So with that general layout presented I'd like to open this up to an interest check.
