Marilyn Carry was a new super heroine on the scene in Tokyo, however, she was one of the few with a public identity. She had a heroine named "Time Wave", but she never used it much...and most people, even the media just called her Marilyn. She had already become known as a trouble chaser before she became an official heroine, but now she was getting much more action.

Tonight was no exception.

Marilyn watched quietly from her hiding spot as several thugs started to prepare to break into a jewelry shop. It was always a delight to see amateurs at work. She watched and waited...for the perfect chance to strike.

Shift was brand new to the Hero gig. The girl had only recently discovered her power to morph her body into any shape she wished. After playing around and learning what she felt was needed, she got the courage to go out on her first night. The problem was profiting from such a venture. Shift wasn't that old, and she still went to high school. But she was confident in herself.

The thugs broke into the jewelry store, a group of six of them. Four immediately began to smash and grab on the jewels, while two went to the back and knelt down next to the safe. "Get me the drill..." One of them said, and that's when the safe suddenly had a face, a very ticked looking face, like it was in some sort of cartoon.

The two thugs at the safe 'gyeaahhh'ed as they jumped back drawing their guns. "What in the Hell is this?" They cried out...and prepared to fire.

Fortunately for the two thugs, the other four up front were alerted by the noise outback. Unfortunately for them all though, that meant they didn't see the blonde bombshell fly through the window and drop kick two of them on the way in. The other two grabbed sticks and attacked, and ended up finding out that the blonde could dodge their attacks like they were going at super slow motion.

The two opened fire on the safe, trying to riddle it with holes. But Shift was rather hard to deal with, considering she was a safe and all. The bullets bounced off her amorphous body with little sparks bouncing off her. As they finally emptied their clips, she melted onto the floor. While her body reformed, she caught sight of the other girl who'd just burst in. Marilyn. Go figure. The heroine just had to show up for something so simple as this. As she watched the woman do her thing, her right hand turned into a mallet and whipped back to smack one of the goons in the head. The other had huddled against the wall whimpering.

Marilyn happened to notice the odd thing on the floor moving, but since it was helping, not hindering her progress, she figured she at least didn't have to worry about an attack from it. She then grabbed some cords and began to tie up the men she knocked out, leaving the last one up to the guy...the girl...the....whatever it was....that had knocked the other goon out. When she had done her task at lightening speed, she went back to check on the progress of the other two, before she called the police.

The one she'd hit was out cold, and the other wasn't really moving. He was just kind of scared shitless. Marilyn was a blur doing her thing. She was incredible. Of course she was. She'd been doing this for a while. Shift was just too new. Of course, Marilyn took out four with that speed. But Shift had managed to make one freak out and one-shot the other, so she was feeling pretty good about herself. "Didn't think you'd be on something so minor..." Shift called out.

Marilyn smiled and walked over to the girl. "You're new to this, aren't you?" She tied up the girl's two captives. "Let's leave these boys to the police and go for a small chat." As soon as they left the building, hearing the sirens getting closer, she turned to see if the girl was still following, and if she was, she took off towards the top of some abandoned buildings.

"Yeah... Well... Not like I'm incompetent..." She got defensive simply because she was new. Shift didn't want to be seen as weak. When Marilyn asked for a chat, she accepted and followed the woman. When the buildings got tall, she turned her arm into a grappling hook and literally threw herself to the top. Shift really did love how handy her powers could be.

Marilyn looked off into the night. "I know you've heard this before...but I was new once too. Like you...I wanted to help people, to fight criminals and to prove myself. And like yourself, I got too cocky....I ran into a bank and took out some petty thugs...but there were two super villains there...and because of that, things got rough, real rough...and I was only saved because some other heroes - more experienced than myself - happened to have been responding to the call as well. I learned a lesson that day the hard way. Nothing is too mundane...NOTHING! You never know who is hiding where or what's behind the caper... You just NEVER know. Take ever mission as deadly serious until you're gone and the police take over. You're free to chalk me up as a lecturer...but please at least take my advice."

"Look, Marilyn... It's okay. It was my first gig. I know what I'm getting into. I'm invincible." She seemed awfully confident, but she had good reason to be. She'd been shot in the head, point blank, by a shotgun, and she did pull herself back together to keep going. Her body was living liquid. There were ways she could die, she was sure. "Sort of... It'll take a lot more than normal to get rid of me." Shift shrugged and smiled. "Anyway, it was nice to get to see you up close and in action."

Marilyn smiled. She liked the girl alot...but she was worried that she really was too over confident...and that over confidence could cost her her life... or someone elses.

"Hey..would you like to work together?"

"Work, with you?" She turned around as if she was considering the offer. But really, it was more of a fangirl squee in her head. But she had to remain cool. Aloof. Bad ass. Because Marilyn was a bad ass. If she was a goofball, people would think she was some sort of sidekick. Too bad that being new, she's still be seen as a sidekick unless she managed to do better than Marilyn. "Ehhh... Alright... For a little while anyway..."

Marilyn smiled happily. "Good....I think we will work well together. Now...since we really should get to know more about each other to work better, I have to ask a risque and time old silly question, your place or mine?"

Shift got a look on her face, stunned and confused. "S-Say wha? Uh... Err...?" She wasn't at all thinking anything flirty had been thrown around, so she hadn't been expecting that kind of question. Of course, it could have meant 'hey, let's hang out at my place, or yours' but she was a bit of a guttermind on this case.

Marilyn said "I have a public identity, but I assume you don't. SO we need a nice safe place to chat and discuss things. Would like to go back to my home? Maybe we could talk there for a bit?"

"Oh... Yeah sure... I think your place would be a bit better..." Shift let out a tiny nervous laugh, trying to not seem too weird at that moment. Internally, she was cursing herself for being such an idiot in the stupid moment of asinine foolishness.

Marilyn slowly led the girl back to her mansion through back ways...in her small jeep...and in the dark. Once they arrived, she took her though the back way into her house and into a quiet but very lovely Victorian style living room. "Please make yourself at home..." She said with a lovely smile.
