Senka Deshinov looked somewhat disconnected with the world as she walked around the camp. The snow fell down slowly from the heavens, occasionally landing on her but she didn't mind, she liked the snow, expect when it was stained with the blood of fallen comrades and enemies. She looked about herself; everyone else was probably in their quarters or in the mess hall. She sighed to herself her hot breath creating a mist in the coldness of the outside air. She walked over to one of the snow covered benches. Clearing away some of the gather snow she made a place for herself to sit.

She sat down gently on the bench and leaned back in the chair and looked up at the sky. She wasn't the only women at this camp, but offcourse in the army the men would always outnumber the women. She wasn't a front line solider, no. That "privilege" was only given to the men and with good reason. She was a sniper in the Russian army. At first she had worked alone, having no partner with her on tasks and missions. She was probably one of the best snipers in the army, or at least this camp, with a confirmed 77 kills. The men had taken to calling her "Hawk Eye". However most of them stayed away from her as she was cold and disconnected, it seemed, of having any emotions. The men saw this as somewhat irrie. Pretty soon the high ranking officials got word of it and assigned her a partner for some sort of companion ship and perhaps a vent for any emotions that she had. So far it hadn't really helped. She'd manage to crack a smile or to, or chuckle once in awhile but not much else. Still, they considered that her psychological health was at a higher standard than it had ever been before and to this day she still had a partner.

Why had she joined the fight in the first place? Women tended not to be known for their service on the battle field. The Russian army was one of the first to allow women to join their ranks. When the war fist began, the Nazi's had invaded her town. The burnt the whole town to the ground and slaughtered all the men of their village right before their eyes. Even the smallest of male children were spared. Any women that objected was captured and most likely raped. Those that kept their mouths shut, lived and escaped. She was one of those. She had managed to escape with a few other women, however once they had escaped, they had nowhere to go. So instead of standing around waiting for the Germans to capture the again, they ran to the nearest army base. They were given food and shelter and offered the chance to join the fight. They were probably the easiest people to enlist. The hurt they felt in their hearts would have them lust for vengeance. The out of the 7 that had escaped, 4 of them joined, including her. The rest were sent back to safe areas of the country to begin new lives.

The 4 of them grew very close. They were all trained in how to use a sniper rifle, and a hand gun. They learnt tactics, how to move around silently and other skills that would assist them. Then they were shipped of with other female soldiers to the camp they were in now. During this time, the four of them had grown quite close. Their reasons for joining were one in the same after all. Senka had lost her father, brother and Fiancé in the bloody massacre. She and her mother were the only ones left in their family. She and her mother had escaped with the 7 women. Her mother now resided in Moscow, working as a seamstress.

Senka sighed to herself. She was dressed in her military uniform, designed to combat the harsh Russian winter. Her red hair was up in a messy bun and stuff up inside her fury woollen cap. Her uniform was marked with a few decals, denoting her rank of lieutenant. Her uniform consisted of a large over coat, then a jacket, a shirt, a pair of thick trousers and black boots. Hardly faltering, however that was not its purpose. Its purpose was to keep her alive in the cold.

Looking around, she wondered exactly where her partner had actually run off to. He was probably inside stuffing his face as usual. She sighed a little and looked at the snow falling making her content once more. She reached inside her shirt and pulled out a ring on a chain. It was her engagement ring, only simple in design, but what it represented way the complete opposite. It was made of a sliver band with a large green stone in the middle and smaller white ones around it. He had told her he had chosen green because he loved her eyes. She held it in her gloved hands for a moment, her mind drifting back to those somewhat happy days before the war, in a somewhat blissful state for a moment. However, footsteps approaching made her quickly put it away from view once more and she was back in reality, in the cold snow.

Sergey Trotsky sat down in the mess and ate quickly. His hands were a flurry of motion and in seconds he had finished. It was how he had grown up, eat quickly before it could be taken from him. He stood and his lean muscular frame instantly hunched slightly before he moved along towards the flap. He made his way outside as he wiped his mouth pulled a cigarette and lit it all in a single gesture as he moved. He was a prodigy of a sniping family. His father had been one, his grandfather had been one, yet oddly enough he was now a spotter for a sniper wanting a change of pace. He stepped with a slight hesitation before placing his foot down. He gave a slight sigh at the injured leg. His superiors had just transferred him to hide much of his past. He had been a member of a front line unit. Upon being told to retreat they had begun to do so when they were outflanked, he soon found himself alone, his only order being to retreat. He could have. But he knew he could not return home knowing he had run. Picking up a number of rifles he had run through the small town and found a block of tenement buildings. He had taken a floor and carefully set up his shots. Fifty Nazi's later he found himself facing a division of Panzers. He killed two tanks by shooting through the small peep holes of the tank before he heard the building creak.

In a flurry of crashing stone and smoke he found himself buried alive soon after, the Nazi's having destroyed most of the town just in an attempt to kill him. Thankfully he had been on the top floor and under a thin roof yet a beam had pinned his leg. Seventeen long hours later the citizens of the town returned once the Nazi's had pulled back at night fall finding him in the rubble of the building. He was a young ensign of nineteen, he had been in the military for three years already and had just become a war hero, if anyone would have believed the story. He found himself stripped of rank and given a position considered most punitive, to be a scout for a sniper. To see another do what he excelled at.

He was replacing her former partner, and knew better than to assume to know her. He didn't wear much in camp, a pair of steel capped boots he had taken from a dead nazi, an off white pair of trousers with woolen underwear beneath. Knit wool socks, his shirt a knit wool shirt and his trousers held up by a belt with a wide silver belt buckle. He didn't care for a coat, much of his childhood had been spending time with his grandfather out camping and training his skills. Making his way through camp he sighed. He had been much younger when his father had been killed and his mother cried herself into a stupor as the military came for him However this was duty to country, his grandfather wanted to go as well, however the Dragon Killer Pavlic was not considered of age to do as such. Making his way over to her he looked down the end of his cigarette at her with a smile. "Greetings" He simply said.

Senka looked up as her partner made his way over to her. The odour of his cigarette filled the air and she cringed a little at it. She hated the smell of those things, but she kept her thoughts on the issue to herself, the men needed some form of stress relife. Senka looked at him and said "Morning...". As usual, he walked around half dressed. She sighed a little and said "The captain wants to see us later so I suggest that you get properly dressed" she said to him.

She stood up and looked at him before one of the other female snipers walked past and said "Senka, come and eat breakfast, you have been sitting out here all morning". This snipers name was Aleksandra. She was one of the women that had escaped the village with Senka that night. Aleksandra was the complete opposite of Senka. She was chirpy, peppy, and energetic. She grabbed Senka's hand and forcefully dragged her inside the mess hall and sat her down in front of some food before she pointed at it and said "Eat".

Senka sighed and said "I'm not hungry". Aleksandra would not have any of that. She literally picked up the spoon full of food and shoved it into her mouth. "I said eat Senka!". Senka blinked a few times before she sighed and took the spoon, swallowing the food on it before she said "Fine" and grudgingly began to eat the food. It was probably a strange sight for the rest of the people there, watching Senka the "Hawk" get spoon fed like a baby.

Senka took a bite of food on her own before she looked over at Aleksandra and said "Happy? She smirked and said "No, I want it all gone". Senka sighed and continued. Aleksandra was the one person who could boss her around like she was her mother. It was somewhat embarrassing for Senka. She sometimes wondered how the girl sitting in front of her could ever calm down enough to be able to take a shot and actually hit the target.

He saw her cringe but said nothing. If she didn't have the nerve to speak up then she had no right to expect him to change. Puffing slowly he looked to her. "The captain is someone who cares more about efficiency than dress, thus I think I'm alright." He said slowly before he ran his fingers through his wheat blond hair before he shook his head his piercing blue eyes staring off into the distance. "I mean if you'd like to play dress up you could ask." He added coolly almost as if he may be seriously considering the prospect.

He watched her get dragged off and he wandered towards the armory. Talking to the female guard he flirted and joked till she gave him a rifle and several rounds of ammunition. Walking off towards the nearby woods he set up a blind and lay down waiting calmly. He was rather in the mood for some fresh meat, why not find some himself. He thought as he pushed out his lips and curved looking at the lit cherry of his cigarette. Sighing he tilted his head and pressed it into the snow he laughed softly. "Oh well" He added.

Senka sighed as she was forced to eat up every single drop of the unppetizing borough that they served here. Once she was done she looked up at Aleksandra and said "Are you happy now?". Aleksandra grinned and nodded and said "Yeap". Senka sighed and just shook her head before she stood up. "I have to go now okay" she said to her.

Aleksandra grinned at her and said "Alright, see you later". Senka was relieved that she was set free again. She walked outside of the mess hall and began to make her way back to her own quarters. She walked inside her tent and sighed to herself. She took off her coat and chucked it on her bed and sat down. She sighed to herself and looked at the roof.

She and Sergey hadn't been sent out on a mission in awhile. She was getting a little restless. She hoped when they saw the captain they would get something to do. Life at the camp could get rather boring when one had nothing to entertain themselves with.

He laughed softly as he looked to the woods as he made his way back. Slung over his back were a number of small game birds that had been foolish enough to fly away late. None of the bodies had heads as a testament to his skill, but more impressive was the fact he had twelve birds yet only eight bullets had been given to him.
He made his way to his tent and threw them down on a tarp before he made his way back out and to the armory. Returning the rifle he gave the guard a peck on the cheek before laughing as he saw her blush then making his way back. Plopping down onto a cot he pulled a knife from beneath his pillow and began to gut and clean the birds with a slow methodical familiarity.

He unlike his partner made do with camp. For now he would sit here taking his time to do as he pleased.

(Sun is up..heading to bed dear.)

((okay, night))

About two hours later, a knock was heard on senka's door. She got up and opened the door to see a private. He saluted her and said "That captain wishes to see you and your partner now". She nodded and said "Thankyou". He saluted her again and left. She sighed and picked up her jacket, putting it on before she walked to her partner tent and knocked on the door. When he opened the door she looked at him and said that "Captain wants to see us now...whats that smell?" asked asked, looking around as the smell of the birds invaded her nose.

Flicking the blood from the knife he quickly sheathed it before he made his way to the door. Standing before her his eyes narrowed slightly. "We don't have time for that." He said as he pulled off his bloody shirt and tossed it to one side. Stepping out he locked the door behind himself and pulled on another shirt as he walked briskly across camp. He wasn't even supposed to be looking at a rifle longingly much less using one.

Senka watched as he changed his shirt. She sighed and turned and began to make her way over to the captains tent. She walked inside and saluted him before he said "Ahh, Senka and Sergey, we have a new task for you". Here are you briefing folders. Senka looked down at the table and picked up one of the two folders and opened it up, taking a glance through it. The captain spoke again and said "Your target is a man called Josef Ulbricht, he is a captain in the German army. In two days from now he will be traveling to the German military camp, 200 miles away from him. Intelligence tells us, on route he will be switching cars here" he said point to the map. "You task is to take him out here, and anyone else who gets in your way. More details are provided in you briefing, any questions?"

He laughed softly as he stood there, his hands in his pockets he stood leaning onto his right leg as he looked to him. He had known this man for years but couldn't really let that get out into camp. Looking to him he smirked and had the expression of casual regard he did with all giving a brief salute before listening to the mission. He shrugged as he was asked and simply said. "Can we go? I was doing something." He said slowly before he made his way towards the door.

The captain said "If there are no questions, feel free to leave". Senka saluted him again before she took her copy of the file and walked outside and began to head back to her tent. She looked down at the file and began to read it slowly, taking in it's contents.

He made his way back to his barracks and finished cleaning the birds collecting the feathers in one bag and the entrails in another. Slowly he walked out into the camp and towards the fire in the center before running them through. Leaning down the rotisseried them and sat nearby occasionally turning them while basting them with a cup of pineapple juice he had taken from the mess catching it in a pan before repeating the process.

Senka sighed and walked back into her room and began to thourghly began to read through the breifing. She then sighed to her self and left the folder on her desk before she walked outside into the cold. She looked around and began to walk around the camp. Tomorrow they would be leaving for their mission.

He squatted there, slowly eating, his lips and teeth pulling at the flesh while he closed his eyes. He savored the taste of it before each swallow even drinking in the juices he had been basting with. It splattered against his shirt and as a result he slowly stripped it off before grabbing the next and resuming. Steam rose off his lithe muscular back as the light began to lower.

Senka sighed to her self as he walked around the camp. Then the strange of unfamiliar smell of something being roasted reached her nose. She began to head towards the source and she saw Sergey. She walked over to him and stood by the fire. He seemed to be enjoying himself it seemed. She looked over at the birds for a moment. Well that explained the blood and the smell in his tent. She looked at him and she remembered back to her old home. They often shot birds down and roasted them just like he was doing.

He opened an eye and peered at her. "Trying to look down my throat to see if there's a soul in there?" He asked as he continued to eat now with one eye open. "Unlike you I'm not satisfied with the nonsense the camp calls food." He added soon after before he stood before her. His suspenders hung to his sides, his upper body exposed its heat rapidly escaping as steam though he felt no cold as he looked to her. "Or have you simply come to look at me?" he asked as he lifted his shirt and wiped his chin with it before turning from her.

His voice snapped her out of her reverie and she watched as he spoke to her and stood up. She looked up at him, talking no mind of his exposed torso. Well, alright maybe she did have a glance but kept it at that. She looked at him and said "I didn;'t come to find of specifically, I was just walking" she said to him. She sighed a little to her self and continued walking "Enjoy the birds" she said to him.

"Uh huh" He said slowly as he smirked and turned from her picking up his remaining bird. "I was planning to" He said slowly as he made his way towards his quarters. Slowly he pulled the rest of the meat off chewing slowly as he made his pack and such getting ready to move out whenever it was necessary. Cleaning his knife he resheathed it before he climbed into his bed.

Senka sighed and returned back to her tent. There she got her own pack ready, packing it with supplies for them mission. She then changed into her bed clothed and climbed into her own bed. She reached inside her shirt and held onto the ring around her neck before she closed her eyes and went to sleep slowly.

HE lay there as he always did, thinking back to watching his fellow soldiers getting mowed down. Watching them seem to come apart. His eyes widened as he pictured it, their bodies in tatters around him, their blood running rivers down the hillside. He sat alone with his rifle too terrified to run but only wanting to live. He fought to live.

Senka fell asleep. It seemed tonight she would be blessed with a peaceful sleep. Most other nights she would dream about the events that happened to her in the village. She woke up early the next morning. The file said that they would be moving out at 0800. She changed into her uniform and made sure everything was in order before she walked out of her tent with her pack on her back.

He already stood by the ashes of the campfire, pack on his back, his uniform on, his buttons slightly undone towards the top however. Leaning back slightly he looked to her his eyes unflinchingly looking at her in the early morning. She had not told him what time to be ready for, already he felt rather insulted.

Senka walked over to him and said "Wear leaving in 2 hours" she said to him. She had felt no need to tell him the time to be ready since it had been written in the file he was given. She would have though he would have at least taken a glance at it. She looked at him before she said "I'm going to the armory" she said heading past him and off into the distance.

"Alright" He said slowly to her before he turned and flopped out a mat before he sat down slowly. "Mmm I'll be here." He didn't need to go to the armory, he had a sidearm and thats all that was allowed to him in his lowly scouting position.
