Ridgemond High School. A place he had tried his best to forget. While he had been mostly successful in abandoning the memories of his time as a bullied nerd, he hadn’t been able to forget one thing. One defining aspect of his life from back then. Or rather, one defining person.

Kacey.

Honestly, the two of them had next to no overlap. They were in the same grade and occasionally the same classes, but that should have been the end of it. She was the queen of the school, the most popular girl in the whole place. His main extracurricular was chess club. Yet through what could only be described as an act of God, he and her were partners for a semester on a class project.

He couldn’t explain it, but there had been...something between them. A something he couldn’t describe but felt in his core. He was drawn to her in a way that didn’t make sense. But he never knew if she felt it too, or if he had just been delusional. So when the semester passed, so did their single connection. He was left with just lingering glances in the classrooms and hallways.

“We’re here!” an older voice called out, rousing Asher Gray from his memories. Indeed, he was no longer the nerd he had been back then. Hard exercise along with his straight A’s in college has helped him turn his life around. Now he was the golden boy at a bank on Wall Street. He didn’t need to focus on the past. He should look to the future.

Asher stepped out of the car, looking at his immediate future. “Black Diamond,” he muttered, reading the name of the high end strip club in front of him. His bosses had taken him here as a ‘reward’ for his amazing work lately. It wasn’t much his speed, but he knew better than to say that. Climbing the corporate ladder meant making friends with his superiors. He intended to do just that. So the twenty-five year old followed the men in their forties and fifties into the darkly lit establishment.

He had no idea what awaited him inside.
