Boarding school was the last place that Jarrod Adams wanted to be. Being thirteen years old left him no choice, though. It was his last year of middle school and his parents decided that he should go here for eighth grade and high school because it was 'better'. Better meant harder. And harder meant frustrating. It also meant not being able to go to high school with any of his friends. That was the biggest blow. The kids he'd grown up with were all going to the public school back home, and he was stuck here, thousands of miles away, with no one. He sighed as he pushed open his dorm door, thanking someone for small miracles that he was able to get a single room with only a shared common area.
His bags were tossed on the bare bed, and his chestnut hair was pushed from his golden eyes. None of his other suite mates were there yet, and so the lanky teen took the time to explore around a bit. There were four rooms, and all of them lead into the common room, which consisted of a sofa and television, and a study area with four desk and chair sets. There were bookshelves lining two walls, and each student was expected to provide his own laptop. The school provided the printer, paper and ink for the entire student population. Everything was just so...bare. He didn't like it.
Seeking something more interesting about his new surroundings, Jarrod moved out through the school, exploring idly.
((I figure he doesn't know your character will be there yet.))
