Hi there!
I'm an avid roleplayer from Eastern Europe. I've been doing it for a long time, not sure how long exactly. I'd like to think I'm pretty good at writing, and I'm looking for long term writing partners for long term stories. This time, I've got a big craving for gritty modern fantasy, but before I get down to it, I'd like to give you some information so you know right away if we're compatible.
1. Writing medium. I always preferred IM services. Currently using Discord. PMs, E-mail and Google Docs never do it for me for a few reasons, mainly because I also talk with my writing partners a lot outside writing. I'm not here to make passes at someone IRL. Give me a chance, and we can become pals.
2. Post length. I don't do one-liners. Hell, I don't do four-liners either. It's anywhere between a couple paragraphs and a fairly big piece, but usually 3-4 paragraphs is my average. I'm good at adjusting to your post length. Don't need 1000 word replies for the sake of it, either - I'd much rather have zero fat and a short reply than a dragged-out, over-padded essay.
3. Timezones. They're a factor with me. Take into account that I'm in Eastern Europe - I always write and I am a night owl, and I'll always take a minute to at least get back to you, but timezones are still a thing.
4. Plot vs Smut. Smut is great, but it's definitely not essential. 80vs20 percent, 70vs30 at most. I'm much more interested in stories and human relationships and emotions.
5. It should go without saying that I don't disappear without a word and I'd like to receive the same treatment. I love feedback and criticism, and I believe in fixing standing issues instead of breaking up a good writing partnership. Talk to me.
If I managed to keep you here this far, here's what I really want to write:
Modern Fantasy, in a very human lens.
What I mean is, I'd like to write a modern fantasy world where things are.. not that exciting.
No colorful spells and lightning bolts in the street.
No big prophecies and world-saving.
No sewer alligators.
It's not everyone's cup of tea.
This is a world that's no different from ours outwardly - yet some people are more finely tuned, have more acute senses and uncanny abilities. Living dead are raised from graveyards and end up on the street, posing as beggars with no need for food or sleep, or herded into construction sites in secret, sealing shady deals between dark mages and businessmen. Vampires hunt in alleyways - or make a stop by the blood bank for lunch. And sometimes, you wake up at night, hearing something fight viciously just beyond the reach of streetlamps, a pack of ghouls who couldn't share an unlucky drunkard.
But for a normal, upstanding member of society, these things are unseen - rationalized, filtered out by the mind. The beggar is just dirty and hideous. They're just fucking in that alleyway. Those are dogs fighting over there.
Sometimes, someone takes a second look and their lives change forever; I want to write about that.
I want to write about people, and human emotions, and human relationships in a facet of the world that is unseen by most. Alcoholic mediums, who drink to numb the painful buzz of the city in their head. Bitter souls who wish they never knew this side of reality. Frightened, paranoid, depressed. Very, very tired.
I don't want heroes. I want people. With BIG fears, and BIG doubts. Big hopes and hearts, too.
I want to tell a slow story of exploring the overwhelming truth of the world, studying its methods and rules. Rich dialogues and somber scenes interlaced with tension and genuine horror, all serving to drive the point home: You are a rare breed, and you're absolutely not welcome.
There's a challenge to writing this thing - instead of relying on strict visual cues for all the strange and inexplicable things happening around, there's a great freedom to explore things on a more abstract level. In this setting, it's less about how things look when you wave your hands about, and much more about how they feel, whether that's described through mediums of touch, smell, emotion, visual impairment or something of the sort.
If this sounds like the kind of walk you'd like to take with me, grab your shoes. Let's go.
Leave a lil' PM with some feedback, I'll get back to you with my contact info. Much love.
