There was a low rumble in the alley behind the book store. What look like a swirling dark black and blue half circle was appearing from behind a dumpster. After about minuets one could see that it was a full circle half covered by the dumpster. The whole was 6 in diameter more than half covered. A few moments later the dumpster slammed against the far wall bending the corner badly. After another minuet Allidon stepped from the portal and it closed almost instantly behind him. He cleared his throat and closed his eyes he hated the smell of the alleys in New York.

He walked quickly from the alley the sun was just starting to go down. His orders playing in his mind. He was to prove his dedication to his master by torturing a human with out touching them to the point where they lost their mind or took their own life. The only reason he took this mission was it brought him to New York. The one city in the world where he need not change from his normal attire. People where already complimenting his cloths as he walked past into a small coffee shop that had a large window looking out into the street. Here he would sit and watch. He needed to find a target for his torture.

He ordered a large Italian roast and began to take a sip. He had to give the humans one thing when it came self indulgence they could certainly do it well. Their food was delicious another reason he accepted this mission. He sat there hood down eyes raking the city streets and the small shop itself. Who would he torment, his orders where to make it a challenge for himself he could not choose someone who would break to quickly.

Jania smiled at the people walking in the door. She only did it so they would feel happy. In all honesty, she hated her job and the people around her. She was sick and tired of dealing with some of the scumbags that the job brought around. The ones who came in and hit on her for no other reason than her tits and ass. It pissed her off to no end. Pushing her light brown hair out of her face, she scanned the small crowd of people and noticed a man, staring out the window. Looking at the tables, she sighed. Trash lay strewn across several of them. Nodding to her co-worker, she walked around the counter and began picking up the garbage.

Singing to her self, she didn't notice the way the man was dressed or how he looked. Leaning down next to his chair, she grabbed a wrapper that had been tossed to the floor. Jania stood up, walking back to the counter, not before tossing all the cups and random pieces of paper into the garbage. She was getting tired and it was close to the end of her shift. Grabbing her backpack, she removed her apron and slid out, watching her co-worker grumble. Pulling out her iPod, she stuck her headphones in and began the mile and a half walk back to her apartment.

It seemed to be one of those kind of days where she wanted nothing more than to sit at home and watch old chick flicks. Like Gone With The Wind and things of that nature. She had always wished for that type of romance. Unfortunately, the guys she dated only wanted one thing. She wanted a guy that she didn't have to screw to keep around. She wanted a guy who would give her the world if she asked for it. She knew that kind of guy didn't exist in her life. Oh well. She would just stick with the bad boys until her prince came.

She scoffed. Yeah, like that would ever happen. Looking up from her thoughts, she looked at the street in front of her. This was gonna be a long walk if she kept thinking like that. Taking a deep breath, she tried to kick the unpleasant thoughts from her head before she got too carried away. Turning around, she felt eyes on her, but she didn't see anyone who was watching her.

Allidon smiled at the young woman as she left. Could this be his toy? Could she be the one he would break? She seemed to be perfect for his little test. Young, very attractive, employed, and based on the smile she gave him when he entered the shop she was happy. He needed more evidence to prove she was what he needed.

He smiled as he followed her slowly fading from view. He was only a few feet behind her and when she turned to look at him she could not see him. She did not seem as happy as she had been a few minuets before. He continued to follow her though he did not wish to stay in the city for to long. If he could prove her to be good enough she would be his ticket home.

Strangers. (Yuki & Dist)

The feeling didn't fade as she looked around. She was hoping she wouldn't have to hurt someone. She hated the fact that people always seem to stare at her because of one reason or another. Pushing her ear buds in a bit better, trying to drown out the sounds of the city. Turning to the front, she couldn't help but want to hide herself from who ever was watching. The feeling bubbling in the bottom of her stomach was that of fear, like something was going to harm her. She didn't like that feeling. Jania shrugged off the feeling, turning back to the street, not noticing that the light hadn't changed.

Stephen watched as she entered own private little world inside her earphones. He noticed what it appeared she didn't. The light had changed and there was a car coming. It had to be what he considered the funniest thing humans did. A woman was driving along text messaging. He laughed if he had any concern for the driver of the car it went away when he saw that. He smirked he only had a few moments to decide if he wished to act. He could stop the car and save girls life, but he was just going to torture her anyways. His smirked turned to a grin as he realized that this was the perfect time to test if she was what she seemed. Stephen moved quickly forward appearing from nothingness behind her. His hand extending gripping the back of her belt pulling her back into his chest. He did not move as the car sped past he let her regain her balance before he released her from his grip.

Jania stood in shock for a moment before turning to the person who pulled her out of the way. Blinking, she didn't notice at first, it took her a moment and smiled. It was the man from the coffee shop. It made her almost want to faint. She had almost gotten hit by a car. She got very dizzy for a moment. Grabbing the man's arm, she looked up.

"Sorry," she said, trying to regain her composure. "I didn't notice. Thank you so much. Is there any way I can pay you back?"

The dizziness faded but only a slight bit. Letting go of the man, she tried to stand straight. She was in shock. She needed to sit down before she passed out. Walking a short distance, she sat on a nearby bench, trying to pull herself out of shock. It was hard to do all by herself. Taking deep breaths, she stared straight ahead, not knowing what else to do.

Stephen looked at her and smiled. He normally never interfered with the death of someone. he was watching he was not sure what to do from here. He smiled at her she was prettier than she looked a from far away. He looked at her smiling it was against his personal rules to spend time with the person he was following. He however was hungry and he wanted to see if she what she was like. "Take me to dinner and will call it even. "He smiled looking at her following her to the bench she was taking near death better than he had thought she would.

Jania looked up at the man in front of her, nodding shortly and smiling. She was still too stunned to talk. She couldn't help but notice that the man was attractive. The only thing was, he was attractive in a dark kind of way. Not tall, dark and handsome. More of a dark and dangerous kind of way. As she looked him over, she had a strange feeling that he had another motive. Nothing bad. But a definite ulterior motive. She couldn't put her finger on it. Holding her hand out, she smiled.

"My name is Jania. I'm really sorry to make you have to go through the trouble." Her smiled brightened.

"Dinner sounds like a very good idea. I just got off work, so I could use something to eat."

Allidon smiled taking her hand gave it a light squeeze. His eyes looked deep into her's, his eyes looked as though he was staring right into her soul. He gave her a faint smile as he tried to pull her gently to her feet. "Were should we go? " He looked at her and smiled stepping back glancing around wondering just. He glanced around him wondering if she was what he was looking for. If she was not he would be wasting a good deal of his time. He was how ever looking forward to something good to eat. "There is a nice Italian place not far from here. Have you been there before? "He never gave her a chance to answer his first question before deciding where to eat. He loved that restaurant and now he could eat there with out having to trick them into making it free.

Jania stumbled over her own words as she tried to answer him. She didn't eat out often, so she didn't really know any of the places in the area. Sighing as she was pulled to her feet, she couldn't stop staring at him. He was defiantly odd, that was for sure. She just couldn't place her finger on it. He was attractive, seemingly mature and rather kind. Her mind spoke wonders.

'He has to be gay. Totally. All guys that are worth the trouble are either gay or married.'

Looking him over, she doubted the gay part. He was straight. He was just strange. Like a kid in a candy store. Not that he was immature. He seemed like there was something he was looking forward to. Maybe a bit too much.

Looking over her shoulder, she swore she saw a man in white standing there. Maybe she was losing it. She might just be losing her mind. Maybe she was dreaming.

'No. If I was dreaming, we wouldn't be walking. We would probably be in a dark room somewhere...'

Her train of thought went in it's own direction. She tried not to think about it. Turning back to the man in front of her, she couldn't help but giggle. She felt so stupid about almost stepping in to the street that she almost wanted to continue saying sorry to the man. she wasn't sure if her would find it cute or get annoyed. Opting for the second, she kept her mouth shut.

Stephen turned placing his hand on her lower back. His hand pushed her gently down the street towards the restaurant. He realized now that he never told her his name. She would begin to get suspicious if he continued to neglect that detail. He pondered for several long moments as to whether or not to give her his real name in short order he decided she would not be alive long enough to use it against him. "My name is Allidon. " He glanced at her for a moment she was nice enough to offer more than thanks for saving her life. He wondered why she he had not done anything except for pulling her back out of the street.

Suddenly the noise stopped. Jania no longer moved. Nor did any other being except for Stephen. Not far ahead, a younger looking man, in what appeared to be his early to mid twenties stepped forward. Waving his hand, he stopped the cars and other moving objects. Every thing came to a stop. Looking up at him, the man smiled.

"Hello Stephen. How have you been?" Azerahol said, his sweetness dripped off his words like honey.

Looking at the young girl, his smile disappeared. His wings suddenly burst from his back, his anger becoming apparent.

"Step away from her! I won't let you harm her."

Stephen stepped in front of the girl as Stephen glared. "I was just taking her to dinner. My orders are actually to not harm her!" He stepped even closer the swirls on his arm began to glow as did his armor. "I also do not recall a change in the pecking order that put you in front of me. "

Stephen was ready for a fight it had be a good long time since he had had a good fight. Certainly not a fight with a angel his hand glistened as he prepared spells for what could prove to be a very tough battle.

Azi looked at him for a moment. He debated on whether or not to believe him. Waving his hand at Stephen, he smiled.

"I don't want a fight. I just don't want harm to come to her." He said, laughter in his voice.

Stepping forward, he gently pushed Stephen aside and brushed the girls bangs out of her face. Tilting his head to the side, he inspected her. She seemed normal enough. She wasn't ill. She'd had a bad day, from what he had seen. His ice blue eyes scanned the area. Unsure of Stephen's intentions, he cast a small protection spell, placing his hand on her head. It would wear off in a few hours, but he was sure that would be enough time for the girl to get away from Stephen.

"I can assure you angel I have no intention of harming her. " A smirked formed as the angel turned his back. "Just remember angel I was not the one who started this confrontation. You appeared to me. "He turned and resumed his position next to the girl."And i would greatly apreciate it if you left me to my meal."He smirked looking at the angel he knew he would be able to tell if he lied to him. So he had chosen all his words very carefully. He had no intention of actually harming her. He would leave that task to her it was simply his goal to make her do it. It did not matter to him how long the spell lasted for Allidon had no intention of doing anything to her person. "Angel why does this person mean so much to you? And not the one in the car who i thought about killing when i spared her?"

Azi glanced over at the demon. He knew what he was planning. His human would not be harmed.

"I'm her guardian. It's my job to watch over her."

Tuning his back to the demon, he motioned his hand.
"Just remember, if ANY harm comes to her, I will hunt you down. She will go to heaven, demon."

Jania looked up at her new friend. Had he moved or was it just her imagination? Smiling at him, she put her hand on his shoulder.
"Are you ok?" She asked.
Shrugging it off, she continued walking, hoping they would get there soon.

Stephen was staring where the angel had been standing. When he felt her hand on his shoulder he relaxed no longer spoiling for a fight. "I am fine how are you? Your the one that with the desire to step in front of moving cars. "He chuckled knowing she had not done it on purpose but he always enjoyed teasing anyone really, demon, angel, human, it did not matter. He put his hand on the small of her back and continued to lead her down the road. They could see the chairs and the tables in front of the restaurant now having less than 2 blocks to go.

Jania laughed at his comment. It made her sound near suicidal. Peering over at him, she decided to make a snide remark back.
"Really? If I had known that jumping into traffic would get me dinner with a cute guy, I would have done it a lot in high school."

Jogging up to the door, she opened it for him. If there was one thing she hated, it was a guy opening a door for her. Letting him walk through, she stepped in behind him. Looking around, she noticed the place wasn't too big. It didn't seem expensive. Which was a good thing. Her job was good, but not that good. She was lucky to make rent for her apartment most of the time.

Stephen smiled as the stepped threw the door. "You should try jumping in front of a bus later that might get you more than dinner. " His eyes never left her face he wanted to know how she would react to his very blatant come on. He lead her slowly threw the small dining room to the back where he always sat. A small table for 2 in the corner the lighting in the room left this table with about as much light as there would be if it where black and all they had was a candle. That was the atmosphere here it was a large part of the reason he started coming here. He did not even look at the menu ordering a cheep bottle of wine before they had even sat down. It may have been cheep but it was not bad by any means. The small shop took great care in making sure that everything it did it did well.

Jania flushed at his comment. she hadn't even thought of that sort of thing in several months. She wasn't used to someone being so forward with her. Picking up the menu, she held it in front of her face, trying to hide her embarrassment. Looking over the menu for a moment, she chose Alfredo. It was her favorite. Glancing up at him, she couldn't help but blush. His comment had caused her mind to wander. Maybe she should jump in front of a bus, just to see where it got her. Finally finding her voice, she spoke.
"I take it you come here often?"

He smiled ordering the same thing as she did he smiled not even looking at the menu. "Every chance i get. I truly do enjoy this restaurant." He looked at her smiling her blushing told him exactly what he wanted to know. She may not be innocent but she certainly at the least seemed to be close. He smiled at her and continued to try to figure out just how he was going to put her to the next test. His mind wandering back to that angel. That was his first encounter with one that had not ended in a great deal of pain on both sides. It bothered him that he reacted so quickly to his presence then did nothing to stop him from doing anything to her.

Jania giggled. She didn't mind his company. He was nice, a bit strange but who wasn't anymore. She wanted to ask if he wanted to hang out after eating. Opting to ask, she cleared her throat.
"So would you like to hang out after this? I don't really have anything going on tonight. I know a couple of pretty nice dance clubs around here if you would like to go."

Smiling at him, she took a sip of her water. Her brain was ticking through things. She needed to go by her apartment still. Her work clothes weren't that comfortable. She also needed to call her mother and let her know that she was alive. Her mother was always checking up on her. Pushing the thoughts out of her head, she took a look around. The place was quiet. She wasn't used to that. You couldn't even hear the sounds of the city. It kind of bothered her.

He looked at her watching her intently he had not been to a dance club in decades. He supposed he could spend the time with her perhaps even start his torment tonight if things went well. For some reason he found the thoughts of his mission slipping from his mind more than he was used to. Typically he had a tight lock on his task. " I don't see why not I suppose its the least i could do. I have to make sure you don't get run over again!" He laughed looking into her eyes for the first time he didn't seem to be looking threw her something in them caught his attention.

Jania pushed the door open, hopping on one foot to get over the bottom of the door frame. Her hair was a little messy. Rubbing her arm, she couldn't help the cold feeling that hit her. Looking back at him, she smiled.
"I need to run by my apartment. I need to get change out of my work clothes." She said, her voice wavering because of the cold. Glancing at her watch, she walked up to the corner, looking both ways before jogging across. Continuing her jog, she kept looking behind to make sure he kept up, they made it to her place in almost record time. Reaching into her pocket, she pulled out her keys, unlocking the door.
"Come on in!" She said.

He stepped into the apartment looking at her. "Is there anything you need me to do?" For some reason he felt strange being in her home... Just waiting for her to change. He milled around in her living room his eyes inspecting everything. Looking for any information that would aid him in his search. He found several old bills and a couple new ones. He peaked in her purse when she was locked away taking a glance at every single thing in the purse. "How long does it take you to change. You didn't fall over and die?"He laughed joking picking on her speaking so she could hear him threw the walls.
