Question Thread management concerns

So, I'm not crazy about how I cant delete threads here even if I'm the one who starts them. It's very inconvenient to have to message a mod to do it for me when I want it done and I dont quite get the necessity for such restrictions. Maybe I'm just a pleb who doesn't get the logistics of this stuff but I've used other forums that dont impose such restrictions so I guess I'm just wondering why is it a thing here and not any of the other half dozen or so role playing forums that I've been to?

Also, why can I not edit my request thread? If it's just one of those things that's restricted until I get full access after the three posts and 24 hours being a member period then fair enough. But if i cant edit all my posts and especially my RT then that's gonna be a massive deal breaker for me.

You can look through requests threads and tell that many members have been making extensive edits.
