Alison couldn't stop the tears from flowing. She hated feeling like this all the time. The problems in her life just kept coming. She couldn't do anything to make them stop. Her mother and father's deaths, the betrayal of her best friend, the cheating of the "love of her life". She just wanted it all to end. Looking over the city from the roof, she tried to understand how such a beautiful place could be so cold. Reaching next to her, she read the pill bottle over again. They should have been working by this point. Not that it mattered. If they didn't, she could always jump. Ten stories would be enough to kill her. To get her away from all of the pain.
She pulled a ring off of her finger. It was her mother's wedding ring. Anger suddenly bubbled up to the surface. With as much strength as she could muster, she threw the ring over the side of the building.
"Damn you," She screamed, the tears flowing faster, "Why did you leave me here? Why didn't you take me with you? It's not fair."
Her sobbing over took her and she fell to the floor, curling herself into a ball. It all hurt so much. She pulled her knees up to her chest, hoping it might ease the pain, even if it was just a little. Nothing seemed to be working. Maybe death was what she needed. She raised her head, grabbing the pill bottle and the water. Popping the bottle open, she took six more of the pills, tossing them in her mouth and swallowing. She put the water to her lips, trying to make sure they all went down.
Laying back down, she sighed. Those six brought her count up to seventeen. She still didn't feel anything yet. It was strange. She figured that she would at least feel a bit ill by this point. She could only assume that God was playing a dirty trick on her again. Clutching her hands to her chest, she prayed that he would just let her end it. Nothing could fix this anymore.
